...................................................................LET US LEARN TOGETHER WHAT IS GOOD. Job 34:4b(NIV)................................................................Some people see the Bible as a long and boring book filled with incidents and events from the lives of ancient people who probably never existed. The biblical stories are seen as fables. In this blog, many of the situations and conversations found in the divinely inspired Holy Scriptures have been placed in categories that correspond to expressive sayings and phrases. If - Then

From the laws that the Lord God
gave Moses for the Israelites:

If a man be found lying with a woman married to an husband, then they shall both of them die, both the man that lay with the woman, and the woman: so shalt thou put away evil from Israel.-Deuteronomy 22:22

If a damsel that is a virgin be betrothed unto an husband, and a man find her in the city, and lie with her; Then ye shall bring them both out unto the gate of that city, and ye shall stone them with stones that they die; the damsel, because she cried not, being in the city; and the man, because he hath humbled his neighbour's wife: so thou shalt put away evil from among you.-Deuteronomy 22:23-24

But if a man find a betrothed damsel in the field, and the man force her, and lie with her: then the man only that lay with her shall die: But unto the damsel thou shalt do nothing; there is in the damsel no sin worthy of death: for as when a man riseth against his neighour, and slayeth him, even so is this matter: For he found her in the field, and the betrothed damsel cried, and there was none to save her.-Deuteronomy 22:25-27

If a man find a damsel that is a virgin, which is not betrothed, and lay hold on her, and lie with her, and they be found; Then the man that lay with her shall give unto the damsel's father fifty shekels of silver, and she shall be his wife; because he hath humbled her, he may not put her away all his days.-Deuteronomy 22:28-29

A man shall not take his father's wife, nor discover his father's skirt.-Deuteronomy 22:30

 Background Information:
During the 40th year after Moses and his older brother Aaron led their fellow Israelites away from Egyptian slavery, across the divinely parted Red Sea, and into the desert wilderness of Shur, according to the commands of the Lord God, 123-year-old Aaron died and was buried upon Mount Hor. Sometime thereafter, Moses began recounting the history of the Israelites, and speaking to them about the commandments, judgments, statutes, and laws that the Lord God gave for the Israelites, the treasured and chosen people of the Lord God. When Moses went upon Mount Nebo, the Lord God showed Moses the Promised Land, and 120-year-old Moses died and was divinely buried. Joshua, Moses' successor, was from the tribe of Ephraim, descended from Abraham (Abram the Hebrew) and Sarah (Sarai), their son Isaac and his wife Rebekah, Isaac and Rebekah's youngest fraternal twin son Jacob (Israel) and his 2nd wife Rachel, their firstborn son Joseph and his wife Asenath, and Joseph and Asenath's 2nd born son Ephraim, whom Jacob proclaimed to be his own son. Joshua led the Israelites across the divinely parted Jordan River and onto the land that the Lord God promised to give to Abraham, and Isaac, and to Jacob, and their descendants. After 110-year old Joshua died and was buried in his tribe's portion of the Promised Land, the Israelites were led by elders, judges or their own minds. Meanwhile, men from the tribe of Jacob and Rachel's 2nd and last son Benjamin raped and caused the death of a concubine. The concubine was in a relationship with a Levite, an Israelite from the tribe of Levi, descended from Jacob and his 1st wife Leah, and Jacob and Leah's 3rd born son Levi. The other Israelites vowed that they would not give their daughters in marriage to any of the men in the tribe of Benjamin, and the Israelites gathered to seek the will of the Lord God, and to battle the Israelites in the tribe of Benjamin. After the Benjamites defeated their Israelite brethren twice, the Israelites defeated and destroyed the Benjamites, except for 600 Benjamites who fled and escaped. When the Israelites realized that the 600 Benjamite survivors would need wives, the Israelites killed all of the  Israelites in Jabesh-gilead, except for 400 young virgins. Moreover, the Israelites sent the Benjamites to an area in Shiloh to capture more Israelite daughters to be their brides. Over 300 years after the Benjamites began rebuilding their cities and tribe, Saul, from the tribe of Benjamin, became the 1st king to reign over the Israelites in the Promised Land. David, from the tribe of Jacob and Leah's 4th born son Judah, was the 2nd king to reign over all of the Israelites. During David's reign, Amnon, the son born to David and Ahinoam, raped Tamar, a virgin, the daughter of David and Maacah, a Syrian (Aramean) princess from Geshur. Over 900 years after David and Maacah's son Absalom commanded and saw the death of Amnon, and Solomon, the 2nd child born to David and Bathsheba, became the 3rd king to reign over all of the Israelites, Jesus the Christ, the Son of God, was born. Jesus was conceived of the Holy Spirit in the womb of Mary, a virgin, and Jesus was born into the tribe of Judah to Mary and her husband Joseph when Mary was a virgin.-Genesis 11:26-50:26, Exodus, Numbers 13:1-14:45, 20:1-29, 26:1-27:23, Deuteronomy, Joshua 1:1-4:24, 23:1-24:33, Judges 1:1-2:23, Ruth, 1 Samuel, 2 Samuel, 1 Kings, 2 Kings, 1 Chronicles, 2 Chronicles, Ezra 1:1-11, Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, Acts 1:1-26
