For David His Servant's Sake

King Jehoram (Joram)

And in the fifth year of Joram the son of Ahab king of Israel, Jehoshaphat being then king of Judah, Jehoram the son of Jehoshaphat king of Judah began to reign. Thirty and two years old was he when he began to reign; and he reigned eight years in Jerusalem. And he walked in the way of the kings of Israel, as did the house of Ahab: for the daughter of Ahab was his wife: and he did evil in the sight of the LORD. Yet the LORD would not destroy Judah for David his servant's sake, as he promised him to give him alway a light, and to his children. In his days Edom revolted from under the hand of Judah, and made a king over themselves. So Joram went over to Zair, and all the chariots with him: and he rose by night, and smote the Edomites which compassed him about, and the captains of the chariots: and the people fled into their tents. Yet Edom revolted from under the hand of Judah unto this day. Then Libnah revolted at the same time. And the rest of the acts of Joram, and all that he did, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the king of Judah? And Joram slept with his fathers, and was buried with his fathers in the city of David: and Ahaziah his son reigned in his stead.-2 Kings 8:16-24***Jehoram (Joram) was born to King Jehoshaphat. Jehoshaphat was born to King Asa and Azubah. Asa was born to King Abijam (Abijah). Abijam was born to King Rehoboam and Maacah (Michaiah). Rehoboam was born to King Solomon and Naamah. Solomon was the 2nd son born to King David and Bathsheba. David was the 2nd king to reign over all of the Israelites in the Promised Land. Solomon was the 3rd king to reign, and Rehoboam was the 4th king to reign over all of the Israelites. After Rehoboam gave a specific answer, the Israelites split into 2 kingdoms, according to the will of the Lord God, due to the idolatry and other wickedness of Solomon. Israel was the northern nation, Samaria was the final royal city and Jeroboam was the 1st king to reign. Judah was the nation in the south, Jerusalem was the royal city and Rehoboam was the 1st king to reign. Abijah was the 2nd king to rule Judah, Asa was the 3rd king, Jehoshaphat was the 4th, and Joram was the 5th king to rule Judah. David and his descendants, all the kings who ruled Judah, were Israelites from the tribe of Judah, descended from Abraham (Abram the Hebrew) and Sarah (Sarai), Isaac and Rebekah, Jacob (Israel) and his 1st wife Leah, and Jacob and Leah's 4th born son Judah. The Edomites descended from Jacob's older fraternal twin brother Esau (Edom). The divinely inspired Scriptures of the Holy Bible reveal that the Edomites were ruled by their own kings before Saul became the 1st king to rule over the Israelites in the Promised Land. Saul was an Israelite from the tribe of Benjamin, descended from Jacob and his 2nd wife Rachel, and Jacob and Rachel's 2nd and last son Benjamin. Saul fought the Edomites. Many Edomites were killed during David's reign, and David stationed military posts throughout their land, and the Edomites became David's servants. Solomon built ships in the land of the Edomites. During Jehoram's reign, the Edomites were under the rulership of their own king. Joshua was an Israelite from the tribe of Ephraim, descended from Jacob and Rachel's firstborn son Joseph and his wife Asenath, and Joseph and Asenath's 2nd born son Ephraim, whom Jacob proclaimed to be his own son. Over 900 years before Jehoram began to reign, Joshua led the Israelites across the divinely parted Jordan River and onto the land that the Lord God promised to give to Abraham, and Isaac, and to Jacob, and their descendants. Sometime thereafter, Joshua and the Israelites killed the people in Libnah, according to the will of the Lord God. When the Israelite tribes received their portion of the Promised Land, Libnah was allotted to the tribe of Judah and eventually given to the priestsOver 800 years after Ahaziah, the son born to Jehoram and Athaliah, became the 6th king to rule Judah, and Jehu killed Joram (Jehoram), the son of King Ahab and Jezebel, and became the 10th king to rule over all of the Israelites in the northern nation of Israel, Jesus the Christ, the Son of God, was born. Jesus was conceived of the Holy Spirit in the womb of Mary, a virgin, and Jesus was born into the tribe of Judah to Mary and her husband Joseph when Mary was a virgin.-Genesis 11:26-50:26, Exodus, Numbers 20:1-29, 27:12-23, Deuteronomy 31:1-30, 32:44-52, 34:1-12, Joshua 1:1-4:24, 23:1-24:33, Judges 1:1-2:23, Ruth, 1 Samuel, 2 Samuel, 1 Kings, 2 Kings, 1 Chronicles 1:1-2:55, 3:1-24, 6:1-81, 8:1-40, 9:35-29:30, 2 Chronicles, Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, Acts 1:1-26
