Jesus the Christ, the Son of God,
and his disciples,
and King Herod the tetrarch
Then he called his twelve disciples together, and gave them power and authority over all devils, and to cure diseases. And he sent them to preach the kingdom of God, and to heal the sick. And he said unto them, Take nothing for your journey, neither staves, nor scrip, neither bread, neither money; neither have two coats apiece. And whatsoever house ye enter into, there abide, and thence depart. And whosoever will not receive you, when ye go out of that city, shake off the very dust from your feet for a testimony against them. And they departed, and went through the towns, preaching the gospel, and healing every where. Now Herod the tetrarch heard of all that was done by him: and he was perplexed, because that it was said of some, that John was risen from the dead; And of some, that Elias had appeared; and of others, that one of the old prophets was risen again. And Herod said, John have I beheaded: but who is this, of whom I hear such things? And he desired to see him.-Luke 9:1-9***John the Baptist was born into the tribe of Levi months before Jesus the Christ, the Son of God, was born. John the Baptist was born to Zechariah (Zacharias) the priest and his wife Elizabeth (Elisabeth), Israelites descended from Abraham (Abram the Hebrew) and Sarah (Sarai), Isaac and Rebekah, Jacob and his 1st wife Leah, and Jacob and Leah's 3rd born son Levi. Jesus the Christ was conceived of the Holy Spirit in the womb of Elizabeth's relative Mary, a virgin, and Jesus was born into the tribe of Jacob and Leah's 4th born son Judah to Mary and her husband Joseph when Mary was a virgin. Approximately 30 years after John the Baptist and Jesus the Christ were born, Jesus was baptized in the Jordan River by John the Baptist. Jesus having prayed, the heavens tearing open, the Holy Spirit descended as a dove and lit upon Jesus. The Lord God in heaven audibly acknowledged his Son Jesus, and the Holy Spirit led Jesus into the desert wilderness. Jesus fasted 40 days and nights and was tempted. Afterwards, Jesus was tended to by angels, and Jesus went to the area near John the Baptist, and John the Baptist proclaimed Jesus to be the Lamb of God taking away the sin of the world, and testified that Jesus is the Son of God. In Galilee, Jesus told specific Israelite men to follow him, and Jesus began to preach, teach and perform miracles among the Israelites, the treasured and chosen people of the Lord God. Herod Antipas the tetrarch was the son of King Herod the Great and the brother of Herod Archelaus and Herod Philip. Herod Archelaus became the ruler of Judea for the Roman Empire after the death of Herod the Great. Herod Philip ruled Ituraea and Trachonitis, and Herod Antipas ruled Galilee and Perea for the Roman Empire. Herod Antipas was married to Herodias, and Herodias was previously married to Antipas' sibling Philip. After John the Baptist proclaimed a message to Herod Antipas about Antipas' marital relationship and other issues, Herod Antipas imprisoned John the Baptist. John the Baptist was beheaded after Herodias' daughter performed a dance and stated her request.-Genesis 11:26-36:43, 1 Chronicles 1:1-2:17, 3:1-24, 6:1-81, Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, Acts 1:1-26, 4:1-37, 12:1-25
