...................................................................LET US LEARN TOGETHER WHAT IS GOOD. Job 34:4b(NIV)................................................................Some people see the Bible as a long and boring book filled with incidents and events from the lives of ancient people who probably never existed. The biblical stories are seen as fables. Romans 15:4 (KJV) reveals: For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope. In this blog, many of the situations and conversations found in the divinely inspired Scriptures of the Holy Bible have been placed in categories that correspond to expressive sayings and phrases. Reference information, background information and links connecting the people and places are given to help you find a place to begin reading the Bible for yourself.

Talk, Talk Away

Jesus the Christ, the Son of God,
and his disciples,
and King Herod the tetrarch

And he called unto him the twelve, and began to send them forth by two and two; and gave them power over unclean spirits; And commanded them that they should take nothing for their journey, save a staff only; no scrip, no bread, no money in their purse: But be shod with sandals; and not put on two coats. And he said unto them, In what place soever ye enter into an house, there abide till ye depart from that place. And whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear you, when ye depart thence, shake off the dust under your feet for a testimony against them. Verily I say unto you, It shall be more tolerable for Sodom and Gomorrha in the day of judgment, than for that city. And they went out, and preached that men should repent. And they cast out many devils, and anointed with oil many that were sick, and healed them. And king Herod heard of him; (for his name was spread abroad:) and he said, That John the Baptist was risen from the dead, and therefore mighty works do shew forth themselves in him. Others said, That it is Elias. And others said, That it is a prophet, or as one of the prophets. But when Herod heard thereof, he said, It is John, whom I beheaded: he is risen from the dead. For Herod himself had sent forth and laid hold upon John, and bound him in prison for Herodias' sake, his brother Philip's wife: for he had married her. For John had said unto Herod, It is not lawful for thee to have thy brother's wife. Therefore Herodias had a quarrel against him, and would have killed him; but she could not: For Herod feared John, knowing that he was a just man and an holy, and observed him; and when he heard him, he did many things, and heard him gladly
.-Mark 6:7-20***Herod Antipas the tetrarch and Philip were siblings. Herod Antipas governed Galilee for the Roman Empire, the rulers of the land, and heard about the miracles being performed by Jesus. The divinely inspired Scriptures of the Holy Bible reveal that at least 1,900 years after Benjamin was born in Bethlehem to Jacob (Israel) and his 2nd wife Rachel, and Rachel died, the angel Gabriel appeared to elderly Zechariah (Zacharias) the priest and told him about the conception, birth and purpose of the son who would be born to Zechariah and his wife Elizabeth (Elisabeth). The angel Gabriel told Zechariah to name the child John, and said the birth of John was going to cause rejoicing and gladness, and John would be great in the eyes of the Lord, and would be filled with the Holy Spirit (Holy Ghost) from birth, and would bring many Israelites back to the Lord, and prepare people for the Lord. During the 6th month that elderly Elizabeth was carrying John the Baptist in her womb, the Lord God sent the angel Gabriel to Elizabeth's relative Mary, a virgin. The angel Gabriel said Mary was favored with grace, and the Lord was with Mary, and Mary was blessed among women. The angel Gabriel told Mary not to fear, and said Mary had favor with the Lord God, and Mary would give birth to a Son, and Mary was to name the Son Jesus, and Jesus, the Son of the Highest (the Most High) would be conceived of the Holy Spirit in Mary's womb, and the angel Gabriel revealed that Elizabeth was 6 months pregnant. After Jesus was conceived of the Holy Spirit in Mary's womb when Mary was a virgin, Mary went to visit Elizabeth, and Elizabeth heard Mary's voice, and John the Baptist leaped in Elizabeth's womb, and Elisabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit. Joseph was the craftsman pledged to wed Mary. An angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph when Joseph was asleep and dreaming and told Joseph not to be afraid to receive Mary as his wife, and explained that the child in Mary's womb was conceived of the Holy Spirit, and Joseph was to name the Son Jesus. Months after John the Baptist was born into the tribe of Levi to Zechariah and Elizabeth, descendants of Jacob and his 1st wife Leah and their 3rd born son Levi, Jesus, the Christ, the Son of God, was born in Bethlehem into the tribe of Jacob and Leah's 4th born son Judah to Mary and her husband Joseph when Mary was a virgin. John the Baptist lived as a Nazirite (Nazarite), set apart unto God, and spent some of his life in the wilderness, and ate locusts and honey, and never consumed alcoholic beverages or large quantities of food, and wore a garment made of camel's hair, and a leather belt around his waist. John the Baptist prepared the way for Jesus, preaching a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins, and baptized repenters with water unto repentance in the Jordan River, and in Bethany (Bethabara) on the other side of the Jordan River, and in the wilderness, and in Aenon, and told those listening to believe in the One coming after him, and said that Jesus would baptize with the Holy Spirit and with fire. Approximately 30 years after John the Baptist and Jesus the Christ were born, Jesus was baptized in the Jordan River by John the Baptist. Jesus having prayed, the heavens tearing open, the Holy Spirit descended as a dove and lit upon Jesus. The Lord God in heaven audibly acknowledged his Son Jesus, and the Holy Spirit led Jesus into the desert wilderness. Jesus fasted 40 days and nights and was tempted. Afterwards, Jesus was tended to by angels, and Jesus went to the area near John the Baptist, and John the Baptist proclaimed Jesus to be the Lamb of God taking away the sin of the world, and testified that Jesus is the Son of God. Jesus proclaimed the gospel of God, and told listeners to repent and believe in the gospel, and said the kingdom of the heavens has drawn near, and the time has been fulfilled. In Galilee, Jesus told specific Israelite men, including Simon Peter, James and John, to follow him, and Jesus began to preach, teach and perform miracles among the Israelites, the treasured and chosen people of the Lord God. Jesus was upon a mountain with Simon Peter, James and John when the 3 disciples and apostles saw Jesus talking with Moses, the prophet who died upon Mount Nebo over 1,400 years earlier, and Elijah the prophet, who went up into heaven by a whirlwind over 800 years earlier and was known to wear garments similar to those worn by John the Baptist. Herod Antipas recognized the righteousness and holiness of John the Baptist. However, after John the Baptist spoke against Herod's actions and behavior, Herod imprisoned John the Baptist, and after a dance performed by the daughter of Herod's wife Herodias, Herod Antipas granted the dancing daughter a request and John the Baptist was beheaded.-Genesis 11:26-50:26, Exodus, Numbers 6:1-27, 20:1-29, 27:12-23, Deuteronomy 31:1-30, 32:44-52, 34:1-12, Joshua 1:1-4:24, 23:1-24:33, Judges 1:1-2:23, 1 Samuel, 2 Samuel, 1 Kings, 2 Kings 1:1-2:25, 1 Chronicles 1:1-34, 2:1-17, 3:1-24, 6:1-81, Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, Acts 1:1-26
