...................................................................LET US LEARN TOGETHER WHAT IS GOOD. Job 34:4b(NIV)................................................................Some people see the Bible as a long and boring book filled with incidents and events from the lives of ancient people who probably never existed. The biblical stories are seen as fables. Notably, Romans 15:4 reveals: For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope.(KJV) In this blog, many of the situations and conversations found in the divinely inspired Scriptures of the Holy Bible have been placed in categories that correspond to expressive sayings and phrases. Reference information, background information and links connecting the people and places are given to help you find a place to begin reading the Bible for yourself.

Plain and Simple

A message the Lord God
revealed to Hosea the prophet:

Set the trumpet to thy mouth. He shall come as an eagle against the house of the LORD because they have transgressed my covenant, and trespassed against my law. Israel shall cry unto me, My God, we know thee.
Israel hath cast off the thing that is good: the enemy shall pursue him. They have set up kings, but not by me: they have made princes, and I knew it not: of their silver and their gold have they made them idols, that they may be cut off. Thy calf, O Samaria, hath cast thee off; mine anger is kindled against them: how long will it be ere they attain to innocency. For from Israel was it also: the workman made it; therefore it is not God: but the calf of Samaria shall be broken in pieces.-Hosea 8:1-6***Over 400 years after Joshua led his fellow Israelites across the divinely parted Jordan River and onto the Promised Land, Solomon, the 2nd child born to King David and Bathsheba, became the 3rd king to reign over all of the Israelites. In Jerusalem, the royal city, Solomon built the temple of the Lord according to the instructions revealed to David by the hand of the Lord God upon him, and David's understanding of the details of the plans. David was the 2nd king to reign over all of the Israelites in the Promised Land, the land that the Lord God promised to give to Abraham (Abram the Hebrew),  and to Abraham's son Isaac, and to Isaac's youngest fraternal twin son Jacob (Israel), and to their descendants. Rehoboam, the son born to Solomon and Naamah, was the 4th king to reign. After Rehoboam gave a specific answer, the Israelites split into 2 kingdoms, according to the will of the Lord God, due to the idolatry and other wickedness of Solomon. Judah was the nation in the south and consisted of the tribe of Jacob's 4th born son Judah and the tribe of Jacob's 12th born son Benjamin. Israel was the northern nation and consisted of the other Israelite tribes. Rehoboam was the 1st king to rule Judah, and Jerusalem was the royal city. Judah was always ruled by David's descendants, except for the 6-year reign of Athaliah. Jeroboam, the son born to Nebat and Zeruah, was the 1st king to rule the northern nation, and Shechem served as the royal city. Jeroboam established a system of idolatry throughout the kingdom, and placed a golden calf in Bethel and a golden calf in Dan. The northern nation was always ruled by murderers and idolaters, and Tirzah served as the royal city until Athaliah's grandfather Kimg Omri, the 6th king to rule the northern nation, bought strategically located property and built Samaria. Rehoboam's great-great-great-great-great-great-grandson Uzziah (Azariah) was the 9th king to rule Judah. Hosea the prophet  proclaimed the words of the Lord God to the Israelites during Uzziah's reign, and the reign of Uzziah's son Jotham, the 10th king, and the reign of Jotham's son Ahaz, the 11th king, and the reign of Ahaz's son Hezekiah, the 12th king. Meanwhile, in the northern nation of Israel, King Jeroboam, the son and successor of King Jehoash (Joash), was the 13th king ruling the kingdom. Hosea continued proclaiming the words of the Lord God throughout the reigns of Jehoash's successors King Zachariah (Zechariah), King Shallum, King Menahem, King Pekahiah, King Pekah, and King Hoshea. During the 20-year reign of Pekah, the 18th king to rule over all of the Israelites in the northern nation of Israel, the Assyrians invaded the kingdom and King Tiglath-pileser, ruler of Assyria, began taking Israelites to Assyria. During the 9th year of Hoshea's reign, the Assyrians conquered Samaria, according to the will of the Lord God, due to the idolatry and other wickedness of the Israelites. Less than 140 years after Samaria was conquered, Rehoboam's great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-grandson Jehoiakim (Eliakim) became the 17th king to rule Judah. During Jehoiakim's 11-year reign, the Babylonians (Chaldeans) invaded Judah and Jerusalem and King Nebuchadnezzar, ruler of Babylon, began looting the temple of the Lord. Jehoiachin (Jeconiah/Coniah), the son born to Jehoiakim and Nehushta, was the 18th king to rule Judah. During Jehoiachin's 3-month reign, the Babylonians took more prominent Israelites, including Jehoiachin, his wives and mother, to Babylon. During the 11th year of the reign of Jehoiakim's brother King Zedekiah (Mattaniah), the 19th king to rule Judah, the Babylonians conquered Jerusalem, according to the will of the Lord God, due to the idolatry and other wickedness of the Israelites. Over 500 years after Israelites began returning to Judah and Jerusalem, Jesus the Christ, the Son of God, was born. Jesus was conceived of the Holy Spirit in the womb of Mary, a virgin, and Jesus was born into the tribe of Judah, the tribe of David and his descendants, all of Judah's kings, to Mary and her husband Joseph when Mary was a virgin.-Genesis 11:26-50:26, Exodus, Numbers 20:1-29, 27:12-23, Deuteronomy 31:1-30, 32:44-52, 34:1-12, Joshua 1:1-4:24, 23:1-24:33, Judges 1:1-2:23, 1 Samuel 1:1-3:21, 8:1-31:13, 2 Samuel, 1 Kings, 2 Kings, 1 Chronicles 1:1-34, 2:1-17, 3:1-24, 10:1-29:30, 2 Chronicles, Hosea, Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, Acts 1:1-26
