A message the Lord God
gave Jeremiah the prophet:
Then said the LORD unto me, Though Moses and Samuel stood before me, yet my mind could not be toward this people: cast them out of my sight, and let them go forth. And it shall come to pass, if they say unto thee, Whither shall we go forth? then thou shalt tell them, Thus saith the LORD; Such as are for death, to death; and such as are for the sword, to the sword; and such as are for the famine, to the famine; and such as are for the captivity, to the captivity. And I will appoint over them four kinds, saith the LORD: the sword to slay, and the dogs to tear, and the fowls of the heaven, and the beasts of the earth, to devour and destroy. And I will cause them to be removed into all kingdoms of the earth, because of Manasseh the son of Hezekiah king of Judah, for that which he did in Jerusalem. For who shall have pity upon thee, O Jerusalem? or who shall bemoan thee? or who shall go aside to ask how thou doest? Thou hast forsaken me, saith the LORD, thou art gone backward: therefore will I stretch out my hand against thee, and destroy thee; I am weary with repenting. And I will fan them with a fan in the gates of the land; I will bereave them of children, I will destroy my people, since they return not from their ways.-Jeremiah 15:1-7***Jeremiah was an Israelite and a prophet of the Lord God. Over 750 years before Jeremiah was born to Hilkiah, a priest, Miriam and her younger brothers Aaron and Moses were born into the tribe of Levi. When Moses was 80 years old and Aaron was 83, they led the Israelites away from Egyptian slavery, across the divinely parted Red Sea, and into the desert wilderness of Shur, according to the commands of the Lord God. In the desert wilderness of Sinai, Moses was upon Mount Sinai with the Lord God for 40 days and nights. The Lord God told Moses that only Aaron and Aaron's sons and the sons born to their descendant were to serve the Lord God as priests. During the 40-year journey to Canaan, the Promised Land, Miriam died and was buried in Kadesh, in the desert wilderness of Zin. Upon Mount Hor, 123-year-old Aaron died and was buried. When Moses went upon Mount Nebo, the Lord God showed Moses the Promised Land, and 120-year-old Moses died and was divinely buried. Joshua, Moses' successor from the tribe of Ephraim, led the Israelites across the divinely parted Jordan River and onto the land that the Lord God promised to give to Abraham (Abram the Hebrew), and to Abraham's son Isaac, and to Isaac's youngest fraternal twin son Jacob (Israel), and to their descendants. After 110-year-old Joshua died and was buried in his tribe's portion of the Promised Land, the Israelites were led by elders, judges, or their own minds. When Samuel the priest, prophet and judge from the tribe of Levi was elderly, and Samuel's son Joel (Vashni) and Abiah, were not obeying the commands of the Lord God, and King Nahash and his Ammonite army were preparing to attack, the Israelite elders demanded that Samuel appoint a king to lead them. The Lord God sent Samuel to anoint Saul, from the tribe of Benjamin, to reign as king. At least twice Saul did not obey the commands of the Lord God. While Saul reigned, the Lord God sent Samuel to anoint David, from the tribe of Judah, to reign as king. After Saul's self-inflicted death on the battlefield, men from the tribe of Judah anointed David and 30-year old David began to reign as king only over the tribe of Judah. Saul's son Ish-bosheth (Esh-baal) ruler over the other Israelite tribes. After Ish-bosheth was murdered, the Israelite elders journeyed to David, and David made a covenant with them. The elders anointed David, and 37-year-old David began to reign over all of the Israelites. Solomon, the 2nd child born to David and Bathsheba, was the 3rd king to reign. Rehoboam, the son born to Solomon and Naamah, was the 4th king to reign over all of the Israelites. After Rehoboam gave a specific answer, the Israelites split into 2 kingdoms, according to the will of the Lord God, due to the idolatry and other wickedness of Solomon. Israel was the northern nation, Samaria was the final royal city and Jeroboam, the son born to Nebat and Zeruah, was the 1st king to reign. Judah was the nation in the south, Jerusalem was the royal city and Rehoboam was the 1st king to reign. Rehoboam's great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-grandson Hezekiah was the 12th king to rule Judah. During Hezekiah's reign, the Assyrians invaded the northern nation of Israel and conquered Samaria, according to the will of the Lord God, due to the idolatry and other wickedness of the Israelites. Many Israelites were taken captive and forced to live in Assyria. Manasseh, the son born to Hezekiah and Hephzibah, was the 13th king to rule Judah and was responsible for bloodshed that the Lord God would not pardon. During Manasseh's reign, the Lord God allowed the Assyrians to shackle Manasseh and take Manasseh to Babylon, a nation the Assyrians controlled. Manasseh prayed and put himself before the face of the Lord God, and the Lord God returned Manasseh to Jerusalem. In the kingdom, Manasseh commanded the Israelites to serve the Lord God. Jeremiah lived in Judah and proclaimed the words of the Lord God to the Israelites during the reign of Manasseh's grandson Josiah, the 15th king to rule Judah, and the reign of Josiah's son Jehoahaz, the 16th king, and Josiah's son Jehoiakim (Eliakim), the 17th king, and Jehoiakim's son Jehoiachin (Jeconiah/Coniah), the 18th king, and Josiah's son Zedekiah, the 19th king. During Jehoiakim's 11-year reign, the Babylonians (Chadleans) invaded Judah and Jerusalem and King Nebuchadnezzar, ruler of Babylon, began looting the temple of the Lord. During Jehoiachin's 3-month reign, the Babylonians took more prominent Israelites, including Jehoiachin, his wives and mother, to Babylon. During the 11th year of the reign of Zedekiah, the Babylonians conquered Jerusalem, according to the will of the Lord God, due to the idolatry and other wickedness of the Israelites. Sometime thereafter, a group of Israelite survivors took Jeremiah with them to Egypt. Over 500 years after Israelites began returning to Judah and Jerusalem, Jesus the Christ, the Son of God, was born. Jesus was conceived of the Holy Spirit in the womb of Mary, a virgin, and Jesus was born into the tribe of Judah, the tribe of Judah's kings, to Mary and her husband Joseph when Mary was a virgin.
