From a letter written by the apostle Paul
to believers in Ephesus and everywhere:
Wherefore remember, that ye being in time past Gentiles in the flesh, who are called Uncircumcision by that which is called the Circumcision in the flesh made by hands; That at that time ye were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God in the world: But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ. For he is our peace, who hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition between us; Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new man, so making peace; And that he might reconcile both unto God in one body by the cross, having slain the enmity thereby: And came and preached peace to you which were afar off, and to them that were nigh. For through him we both have access by one Spirit unto the Father. Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellowcitizens with the saints, and of the household of God; And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone; In whom all the building fitly framed together groweth unto an holy temple in the Lord: In whom ye also are builded together for an habitation of God through the Spirit.-Ephesians 2:11-22***When Abraham (Abram the Hebrew) was 99 years old, the Lord God gave Abraham the covenant of circumcision, commanding that all boys born to Abraham and his descendants, and boys born to the slaves or bondservants among Abraham and his descendants, be circumcised on their 8th day of life. Immediately, Abraham, and 13-year-old Ishmael, the son born to Abraham and maidservant Hagar, and all the other males throughout Abraham's household and property were circumcised. When Abraham was 100 years old, Isaac was born to Abraham and his wife Sarah (Sarai). Abraham circumcised Isaac on the 8th day after Isaac was born. When Isaac was 40 years old, he married Rebekah, Abraham and Sarah's grandniece. When Isaac was 60 years old, fraternal twin sons Esau (Edom) and Jacob (Israel) were born to Isaac and Rebekah. Decades thereafter, Jacob married Rebekah's nieces Leah and Rachel. Over 1,900 years after Judah was born to Jacob and Leah, Jesus the Christ, the Son of God, was born. Jesus was conceived of the Holy Spirit in the womb of Mary, a virgin, and Jesus was born into the tribe of Judah to Mary and her husband Joseph when Mary was a virgin. On the 8th day after Jesus was born to Joseph and Mary, Jesus was circumcised. Less than 33 1/2 years after Jesus was born to Joseph and Mary, Jesus was betrayed, arrested, crucified, buried in a tomb, resurrected, and returned to heaven. Paul (Saul) was from the tribe of Jacob and Rachel's 2nd and last son Benjamin, and Paul was circumcised when he was 8 days old. Paul was a strict follower of the commandments, judgments, statutes and laws that the Lord God gave to Moses for the Israelites, and Paul strictly obeyed the traditions passed down by the Israelite elders. Paul did not believe Jesus to be the Christ. When Stephen, an Israelite believer, was stoned to death, Paul guarded the garments of the assailants. When Paul was journeying to the synagogues in Damascus in Syria to find, bind and take to Jerusalem any Israelite believers he found, Paul and those with him saw a light from heaven flash around them. Paul heard the voice of Jesus speaking to him, and Paul spoke to Jesus, and obeyed Jesus. In Damascus, Paul was baptized.
