A Prayer Prayed

Then the people rejoiced, for that they offered willingly, because with perfect heart they offered willingly to the LORD: and David the king also rejoiced with great joy. Wherefore David blessed the LORD before all the congregation: and David said, Blessed be thou, LORD God of Israel our father, for ever and ever. Thine, O LORD, is the greatness, and the power, and the glory, and the victory, and the majesty: for all that is in the heaven and in the earth is thine; thine is the kingdom, O LORD, and thou art exalted as head above all. Both riches and honour come of thee, and thou reignest over all; and in thine hand is power and might; and in thine hand it is to make great, and to give strength unto all. Now therefore, our God, we thank thee, and praise thy glorious name. But who am I, and what is my people, that we should be able to offer so willingly after this sort? for all things come of thee, and of thine own have we given thee. For we are strangers before thee, and sojourners, as were all our fathers: our days on the earth are as a shadow, and there is none abiding. O LORD our God, all this store that we have prepared to build thee an house for thine holy name cometh of thine hand, and is all thine own. I know also, my God, that thou triest the heart, and hast pleasure in uprightness. As for me, in the uprightness of mine heart I have willingly offered all these things: and now have I seen with joy thy people, which are present here, to offer willingly unto thee. O LORD GOD of Abraham, Isaac, and of Israel, our fathers, keep this for ever in the imagination of the thoughts of the heart of thy people, and prepare their heart unto thee: And give unto Solomon my son a perfect heart, to keep thy commandments, thy testimonies, and thy statutes, and to do all these things, and to build the palace, for the which I have made provision.-1 Chronicles 29:9-19**David was an Israelite from the tribe of Judah, descended from Abraham (Abram the Hebrew) and Sarah (Sarai), Isaac and Rebekah, Jacob (Israel) and his 1st wife Leah, and Jacob and Leah's 4th born son Judah. Over 900 years before David became the 2nd king to reign over all of the Israelites in the Promised Land, the Lord God promised to give the land, Canaan, to Abraham, and Isaac, and to Jacob, and their descendants. Sometime after Jacob died in Egypt and his body was buried in Canaan, the descendants, the Israelites, were enslaved in Egypt. Aaron and his brother Moses were born into the tribe of Jacob and Leah's 3rd born son Levi. When Moses was 80 years old and Aaron was 83, the Lord God sent them to speak to the Israelite elders and to Pharaoh, the king of Egypt. After the Lord God brought the 10th and final plague upon Pharaoh and Egypt, Pharaoh told Moses and Aaron to get the Israelites and their animals and go worship the Lord God. Moses and Aaron led the Israelites, and those with them, away from Egypt, across the divinely parted Red Sea, and into the desert wilderness.  During the 40th year of their journey to Canaan, the Promised Land, Aaron died and was buried upon Mount Hor, and Moses went upon Mount Nebo. The Lord God showed Moses the Promised Land, and Moses died and was divinely buried. Joshua, Moses' successor, was from the tribe of Ephraim, descended from Jacob and his 2nd wife Rachel, their firstborn son Joseph and his wife Asenath, and Joseph and Asenath's 2nd born son Ephraim, whom Jacob proclaimed to be his own sons. Joshua led the Israelites across the divinely parted Jordan River and onto the Promised Land. After Joshua died and was buried in his tribe's portion of the Promised Land, the Israelites were led by elders, judges or their own minds. Samuel, the priest and prophet from the tribe of Levi, was the last judge to lead the Israelites. Saul, from the tribe of Jacob and Rachel's 2nd and last son Benjamin, was the 1st king to rule over the Israelites in the Promised Land. Saul disobeyed the commands of the Lord God. While Saul reigned, the Lord God sent Samuel to anoint David to reign as king. After Saul's self-inflicted death on the battlefield, David reigned only over the tribe of Judah. Saul's son Ishbosheth (Eshbaal) reigned over the other Israelite tribes. After Ishbosheth was murdered, the elders journeyed to David and David made a covenant with them. The elders anointed David, and David began to reign over all of the Israelites. Sometime thereafter, David brought the ark of the covenant of the Lord to the City of David. The ark and the mercy seat, and the tabernacle, and the altar of burnt offering, and the garments for the priests were some of the sacred items that the Lord God described and showed Moses the details for making when Moses was upon Mount Sinai with the Lord God for 40 days and nights. David initially placed the ark in a specific curtain-covered tent in the City of David. However, after David's palace was built and he was not engaged in any war, David wanted to build a permanent structure. The Lord God told Nathan the prophet that David's son would build the house for the name of the Lord, and Nathan spoke the words of the Lord to David. Thus, before 70-year-old David died and was buried in the City of David, David prepared for the building, and described to his son and successor Solomon the precise manner that the house for the name of the Lord was to be built, according to the details David understood from the hand of the Lord upon him. Moreover, David spoke to the Israelites, and told them of his contributions, and gave the Israelites opportunities to submit offerings. Over 900 years after Solomon became the 3rd king to reign over all of the Israelites, and built the temple of the Lord in Jerusalem, Jesus the Christ, the Son of God, was born.
