...................................................................LET US LEARN TOGETHER WHAT IS GOOD. Job 34:4b(NIV)................................................................Some people see the Bible as a long and boring book filled with incidents and events from the lives of ancient people who probably never existed. The biblical stories are seen as fables. Notably, Romans 15:4 reveals: For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope.(KJV) In this blog, many of the situations and conversations found in the divinely inspired Scriptures of the Holy Bible have been placed in categories that correspond to expressive sayings and phrases. Reference information, background information and links connecting the people and places are given to help you find a place to begin reading the Bible for yourself.

Know What

The Israelites in the tribe of Dan

And there went from thence of the family of the Danites, out of Zorah and out of Eshtaol, six hundred men appointed with weapons of war. And they went up, and pitched in Kirjath-jearim, in Judah: wherefore they called that place Mahaneh-dan unto this day: behold, it is behind Kirjath-jearim. And they passed thence unto mount Ephraim, and came unto the house of Micah. Then answered the five men that went to spy out the country of Laish, and said unto their brethren, Do ye know that there is in these houses an ephod, and teraphim, and a graven image, and a molten image? now therefore consider what ye have to do
.
-Judges 18:11-14***After Moses the prophet was dead, and Joshua, his aide and successor was dead, and everyone who had known Moses and Joshua were dead, the Israelites began copying the idolatry of the idolaters around them in the Promised Land. The Lord God established judges to lead the Israelites. However, the Israelites usually would not listen to or obey the judges. Thus, the Lord God stopped driving out the enemy nations still inhabiting the Promised Land. The divinely inspired Scriptures of the Holy Bible reveal when 5 warriors from the tribe of Dan were searching for a place in the Promised Land wherein their tribe could settle, no judge was leading the Israelites. The Danites, the Israelites in the tribe of Dan, descended from Jacob (Israel) and maidservant Bilhah, and Jacob and Bilhah's firstborn son Dan. The 5 Danite warriors came across Micah's house, and the 5 warriors were with their fellow Danites when the group went to capture choice land. As the group neared Micah's home, the 5 warriors spoke about Micah's possessions. Samuel the priest, prophet and judge was from the tribe of Levi, descended from Jacob and his 1st wife Leah, and Jacob and Leah's 3rd born son Levi. Saul was from the tribe of Benjamin, descended from Jacob and his 2nd wife Rachel, and Jacob and Rachel's 2nd and last son Benjamin. When Samuel was elderly, and his sons Joel (Vashni) and Abiah (Abijah) were not obeying the commands of the Lord God, and King Nahash and his Ammonite army were preparing to attack, the Israelite elders demanded that Samuel appoint a king to lead them, and Samuel anointed Saul to reign, according to the command of the Lord God. Approximately 1,000 years after David, from the tribe of Jacob and Leah's 4th born son Judah, became the 2nd king to rule over all of the Israelites, Jesus the Christ, the Son of God, was born. Jesus was conceived of the Holy Spirit in the womb of Mary, a virgin, and Jesus was born into the tribe of Judah to Mary and her husband Joseph when Mary was a virgin.-Genesis 11:26-50:26, Exodus, Numbers 20:1-29, 27:12-23, Deuteronomy 31:1-30, 32:44-52, 34:1-12, Joshua 1:1-4:24, 19:40-48, 23:1-24:33, Judges, 1 Chronicles 1:1-34, 2:1-17, 3:1-24, 6:1-81, 7:20-29, Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, Acts 1:1-26

Elijah and Elisha

And it came to pass, when the LORD would take up Elijah into heaven by a whirlwind, that Elijah went with Elisha from Gilgal. And Elijah said unto Elisha, Tarry here, I pray thee; for the LORD hath sent me to Beth-el. And Elisha said unto him, As the LORD liveth, and as thy soul liveth, I will not leave thee. So they went down to Beth-el. And the sons of the prophets that were at Beth-el came forth to Elisha, and said unto him, Knowest thou that the LORD will take away thy master from thy head to day? and he said, Yea, I know it; hold ye your peace. And Elijah said unto him, Elisha, tarry here, I pray thee; for the LORD hath sent me to Jericho. And he said, As the LORD liveth, and as thy soul liveth, I will not leave thee. So they came to Jericho. And the sons of the prophets that were at Jericho came to Elisha, and said unto him, Knowest thou that the LORD will take away thy master from thy head to day? And he answered, Yea, I know it; hold ye your peace.-2 Kings 2:1-5***Before Elijah the prophet  went up into heaven by a whirlwind, Elijah and his successor Elisha spent time with 3 companies of prophets. The 1st group of prophets was at Gilgal, the place wherein Joshua circumcised the Israelite males born during the years after Moses and Moses' older brother Aaron led the Israelites away from Egyptian slavery, across the divinely parted Red Sea, into the desert wilderness of Shur, and through a 40-year journey to Canaan, the Promised LandThe 2nd group of prophets was at Bethel. Over 1,000 years before Elijah and Elisha were in Bethel, their ancestor Jacob (Israelwas in Bethel and started depending upon the Lord God. The last group of prophets was at Jericho. The divinely inspired Scriptures of the Holy Bible reveal that the Israelites destroyed Jericho after Joshua led them across the divinely parted Jordan River and onto the Promised Land, the land that the Lord God promised to give to Jacob, and to Jacob's father Isaac, and to Isaac's father Abraham (Abram the Hebrew), and to their descendants. Sometime after 110-year-old Joshua died and was buried in his tribe's portion of the Promised Land, Othniel became the 1st judge to lead the Israelites.-Genesis 11:26-50:26, Exodus, Numbers 20:1-29, 27:12-23, Deuteronomy 31:1-30, 32:44-52, 34:1-12, Joshua 1:1-5:15, 23:1-24:33, Judges 1:1-2:23, Ruth, 1 Samuel, 2 Samuel, 1 Kings, 2 Kings 1:1-13:25, 1 Chronicles 1:1-34,2:1-17, 3:1-24, 6:1-81, 7:20-29, Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, Acts 1:1-26
