Now about that time Herod the king stretched forth his hands to vex certain of the church. And he killed James the brother of John with the sword. And because he saw it pleased the Jews, he proceeded further to take Peter also. (Then were the days of unleavened bread.) And when he had apprehended him, he put him in prison, and delivered him to four quaternions of soldiers to keep him; intending after Easter to bring him forth to the people.-Acts 12:1-4***David was an Israelite from the tribe of Judah, descended from Abraham (Abram the Hebrew) and Sarah (Sarai), Isaac and Rebekah, Jacob (Israel) and his 1st wife Leah, and Jacob and Leah's 4th born son Judah. Over a decade after David was born, he was anointed to reign as king over the Israelites in the Promised Land, according to the command of the Lord God. When David was 30 years old, he began to reign only over the tribe of Judah. When David was 37 1/2 years old, he became the 2nd king to rule over all of the Israelites in the Promised Land, the land that the Lord God promised to give to Abraham, and Isaac, and to Jacob, and their descendants. David's great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-grandson Zedekiah (Mattaniah) was the 17th king to rule Judah, the southern nation in the Promised Land. During the 11th year of Zedekiah's reign, the Babylonians (Chaldeans) invaded Judah and conquered Jerusalem, the royal city, according to the will of the Lord God, due to the idolatry and other wickedness of the Israelites. Over 125 years before Jerusalem was conquered, the Assyrians invaded the northern nation of Israel in the Promised Land and conquered the royal city, Samaria, according to the will of the Lord God, due to the idolatry and other wickedness of the Israelites. Over 500 years after Israelites began returning to Judah and Jerusalem, John the Baptist and Jesus the Christ, the Son of God, were born. John the Baptist was born into the tribe of Jacob and Leah's 3rd born son Levi. Jesus the Christ was conceived of the Holy Spirit in the womb of Elizabeth's relative Mary, a virgin, and Jesus was born into the tribe of Judah to Mary and her husband Joseph when Mary was a virgin. Approximately 30 years after John the Baptist and Jesus the Christ were born, Jesus was baptized in the Jordan River by John the Baptist. Jesus having prayed, the heavens tearing open, the Holy Spirit descended as a dove and lit upon Jesus. The Lord God in heaven audibly acknowledged his Son Jesus, and the Holy Spirit led Jesus into the desert wilderness. Jesus fasted 40 days and nights and was tempted. Afterwards, Jesus was tended to by angels, and Jesus went to the area near John the Baptist, and John the Baptist proclaimed Jesus to be the Lamb of God taking away the sin of the world, and testified that Jesus is the Son of God. In Galilee, Jesus told specific Israelite men, including James, to follow him, and Jesus began to preach, teach and perform miracles among the Israelites, the treasured and chosen people of the Lord God. Jesus sent James and 11 other disciples and apostles on a mission only to the Israelites. James, his brother John and their fishing partner Simon Peter were the only disciples and apostles on a mountain with Jesus when they saw Jesus transfigured and speaking with Moses and Elijah, prophets who had lived centuries earlier. James, John and Simon Peter were the only disciples and disciples with Jesus when Jesus commanded the daughter of Jairus, a synagogue ruler, back to life. After the disciple and apostle Judas Iscariot went to betray Jesus, and Jesus was in Gethsame praying, Simon Peter, James and John were the disciples and apostles closest to Jesus. The divinely inspired Scriptures of the Holy Bible reveal that Jesus was arrested, crucified, buried in a tomb, resurrected,  seen by over 500 people, and returned to heaven. King Herod Agrippa I was the grandson of King Herod the Great and nephew of Herod Antipas the tetrarch, and like them, he was able to command that specific people be put to death.
