Elijah the prophet and King Ahaziah
Then the king sent unto him a captain of fifty with his fifty. And he went up to him: and, behold, he sat on the top of an hill. And he spake unto him, Thou man of God, the king hath said, Come down. And Elijah answered and said to the captain of fifty, If I be a man of God, then let fire come down from heaven, and consume thee and thy fifty. And there came down fire from heaven, and consumed him and his fifty. Again also he sent unto him another captain of fifty with his fifty. And he answered and said unto him, O man of God, thus hath the king said, Come down quickly. And Elijah answered and said unto them, If I be a man of God, let fire come down from heaven, and consume thee and thy fifty. And the fire of God came down from heaven, and consumed him and his fifty. And he sent again a captain of the third fifty with his fifty. And the third captain of fifty went up, and came and fell on his knees before Elijah, and besought him, and said unto him, O man of God, I pray thee, let my life, and the life of these fifty thy servants, be precious in thy sight. Behold, there came fire down from heaven, and burnt up the two captains of the former fifties with their fifties: therefore let my life now be precious in thy sight. And the angel of the LORD said unto Elijah, Go down with him: be not afraid of him. And he arose, and went down with him unto the king.-2 Kings 1:9-15***Ahaziah was born to King Ahab and Jezebel. Ahab was the 7th king to rule over all of the Israelites in the Promised Land, and Ahaziah was the 8th king to reign. During Ahab's 22-year reign, Ahab built an altar and a temple, and placed a pole for idol worship in Samaria, the royal city. Meanwhile, Jezebel put many prophets of the Lord God to death. Sometime after Ahaziah became physically incapacitated during his 2-year reign, Ahaziah sent messengers to seek an answer from the idol worshiped by the Philistines in Ekron. Ahaziah's messengers were met by Elijah, a prophet of the Lord God. Elijah proclaimed to them the words he received from the angel of the Lord. After hearing the message, Ahaziah sent an army captain with a unit of 50 men to Elijah. The divinely inspired Scriptures of the Holy Bible reveal that Elijah did not comply with the command given to him by the captain who spoke on behalf of Ahaziah, and Elijah did not comply with the order given by the next captain Ahaziah sent. The 3rd captain Ahaziah sent pleaded for his life and the lives of his men, and they were not burned to death. Over 800 years Ahab and Jezebel's son Jehoram (Joram) became the 9th king to rule over all of the Israelites in the land that the Lord God promised to give to Abraham (Abram the Hebrew), and to Abraham's son Isaac, and to Isaac's youngest fraternal twin son Jacob (Israel), and to their descendants, and Elijah went up into heaven by a whirlwind, Jesus the Christ, the Son of God, was born. Jesus was conceived of the Holy Spirit in the womb of Mary, a virgin, and Jesus was born into the tribe of Jacob's 4th born son Judah to Mary and her husband Joseph when Mary was a virgin.-Genesis 11:26-50:26, Exodus, Numbers 20:1-29, 27:12-23, Deuteronomy 31:1-30, 32:44-52, 34:1-12, Joshua 1:1-4:24, 23:1-23:33, Judges 1:1-2:23, Ruth, 1 Samuel, 2 Samuel, 1 Kings, 2 Kings 1:1-2:25, 1 Chronicles 1:1-34, 2:1-17, 3:1-24, Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, Acts 1:1-26
