If - Then

Then the Spirit of the LORD came upon Jephthah, and he passed over Gilead, and Manasseh, and passed over Mizpeh of Gilead, and from Mizpeh of Gilead he passed over unto the children of Ammon. And Jephthah vowed a vow unto the LORD, and said, If thou shalt without fail deliver the children of Ammon into mine hands, Then it shall be, that whatsoever cometh forth of the doors of my house to meet me, when I return in peace from the children of Ammon, shall surely be the LORD's and I will offer it up for a burnt offering. So Jephthah passed over unto the children of Ammon to fight against them; and the LORD delivered them into his hands. And he smote them from Aroer, even till thou come to Minnith, even twenty cities, and unto the plain of the vineyards, with a very great slaughter. Thus the children of Ammon were subdued before the children of Israel. And Jephthah came to Mizpeh unto his house, and, behold, his daughter came out to meet him with timbrels and with dances: and she was his only child; beside her he had neither son nor daughter. And it came to pass, when he saw her, that he rent his clothes, and said, Alas, my daughter! thou hast brought me very low, and thou art one of them that trouble me: for I have opened my mouth unto the LORD, and I cannot go back. And she said unto him, My father, if thou hast opened thy mouth unto the LORD, do to me according to that which hath proceeded out of thy mouth; forasmuch as the LORD hath taken vengeance for thee of thine enemies, even of the children of Ammon.-Judges 11:29-36***Jephthah the Gileadite was an Israelite descended from Abraham (Abram the Hebrew) and Sarah (Sarai), Isaac and Rebekah, Jacob (Israel) and his 1st wife Rachel, their firstborn son Joseph and his wife Asenath, Joseph and Asenath's firstborn son Manasseh, whom Jacob proclaimed to be his own son, Manasseh's firstborn son Machir, and Machir's son GileadOver 300 years after Joshua led his fellow Israelites across the divinely parted Jordan River and onto the Promised Land, Jephthah began leading the Israelites as a warrior and judgeIsraelites in the tribe of Reuben descended from Jacob and his 1st wife Leah, and Jacob and Leah's firstborn son Reuben. Israelites in the tribe of Gad descended from Jacob and maidservant Zilpah, and Jacob and Zilpah's firstborn son Gad. The Gileadites, and half the tribe of Manasseh, and the tribes of Reuben and Gad, were living on the side of the Jordan River across from the Promised Land, according to their request and the permission of Moses, Joshua's predecessor. Gilead was Jephthah's father. Gilead's wife was not Jephthah's mother. Jephthah's mother was a harlot and was not married to Gilead. The sons who were born to Gilead and his wife caused Jephthah to leave the land. However, when enemy Ammonites came to fight the Israelites, the Gileadite elders went to Jephthah so that Jephthah could lead their army and be their ruler. Jephthah returned with the Israelites and sent diplomatic messages to the king of the Ammonites. Afterwards, with the Spirit of the Lord upon him, Jephthah went in pursuit of the Ammonites and made a promise to the Lord God. Jephthah and the Israelites defeated the Ammonites, according to the will of the Lord God, and Jephthah was obligated to fulfill the words of his unbreakable vow. Samuel the priest and prophet was from the tribe of Jacob and Leah's 3rd born son Levi, the birth tribe of Moses. Samuel was the last judge to lead the Israelites. Over 1,000 years after Samuel died, Jesus the Christ, the Son of God, was born. Jesus was conceived of the Holy Spirit in the womb of Mary, a virgin, and Jesus was born into the tribe of Jacob and Leah's 4th born son Judah to Mary and her husband Joseph when Mary was a virgin.
