...................................................................LET US LEARN TOGETHER WHAT IS GOOD. Job 34:4b(NIV)................................................................Some people see the Bible as a long and boring book filled with incidents and events from the lives of ancient people who probably never existed. The biblical stories are seen as fables. Romans 15:4 (KJV) reveals: For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope. In this blog, many of the situations and conversations found in the divinely inspired Scriptures of the Holy Bible have been placed in categories that correspond to expressive sayings and phrases. Reference information, background information and links connecting the people and places are given to help you find a place to begin reading the Bible for yourself.

If - Then

Jephthah

Then the Spirit of the LORD came upon Jephthah, and he passed over Gilead, and Manasseh, and passed over Mizpeh of Gilead, and from Mizpeh of Gilead he passed over unto the children of Ammon. And Jephthah vowed a vow unto the LORD, and said, If thou shalt without fail deliver the children of Ammon into mine hands, Then it shall be, that whatsoever cometh forth of the doors of my house to meet me, when I return in peace from the children of Ammon, shall surely be the LORD's and I will offer it up for a burnt offering. So Jephthah passed over unto the children of Ammon to fight against them; and the LORD delivered them into his hands. And he smote them from Aroer, even till thou come to Minnith, even twenty cities, and unto the plain of the vineyards, with a very great slaughter. Thus the children of Ammon were subdued before the children of Israel. And Jephthah came to Mizpeh unto his house, and, behold, his daughter came out to meet him with timbrels and with dances: and she was his only child; beside her he had neither son nor daughter. And it came to pass, when he saw her, that he rent his clothes, and said, Alas, my daughter! thou hast brought me very low, and thou art one of them that trouble me: for I have opened my mouth unto the LORD, and I cannot go back. And she said unto him, My father, if thou hast opened thy mouth unto the LORD, do to me according to that which hath proceeded out of thy mouth; forasmuch as the LORD hath taken vengeance for thee of thine enemies, even of the children of Ammon
.-Judges 11:29-36***Manasseh and Ephraim were born to Joseph and Asenath. Asenath was born to Potipherah, an Egyptian priest. Joseph was the 1st son born to Jacob (Israel) and his 2nd wife Rachel. In Egypt, Jacob proclaimed Manasseh and Ephraim to be his own sons and the tribe of Joseph became the tribe of Manasseh and the tribe of Ephraim. Rachel and her older sister Leah were born to Laban the Syrian (Aramean). Jacob and his older fraternal twin brother Esau (Edom) were born to Isaac and Rebekah. Rebekah and Laban were born to Bethuel, and Bethuel was born to Nahor (Nachor) and Milcah. Isaac was born to 100-year-old Abraham (Abram the Hebrew) and 90-year-old Sarah (Sarai), Nahor's siblings. Jephthah  the Gileadite was descended from Manasseh's firstborn son Machir, and Machir's son GileadJoshua was from the tribe of Ephraim. Over 300 years after Joshua led the Israelites across the divinely parted Jordan River and onto the Promised Land, Jephthah began leading the Israelites as a warrior and judgeIsraelites in the tribe of Reuben, the Reubenites, descended from Jacob and Leah and their firstborn son Reuben. Israelites in the tribe of Gad descended from Jacob and Zilpah, Leah's maidservant, and their firstborn son Gad. The Reubenites, Gadites, and 1/2 the tribe of Manasseh, including the Gileadites, were living on the side of the Jordan River that the Israelites had wandered through during their 40-year journey to Canaan, the Promised Land,  according to the request  made, and the permission and land given to them by Moses the prophet, Joshua's predecessor. Gilead was Jephthah's father. Gilead's wife was not Jephthah's mother. Jephthah's mother was a harlot and was not married to Gilead. Gilead's other sons were born to Gilead and his wife and caused Jephthah to leave the land. However, when enemy Ammonites came to fight the Israelites, the Gileadite elders went to Jephthah so that Jephthah could lead their army and be their ruler. Jephthah returned with the Israelites and sent diplomatic messages to the Ammonite king. Afterwards, with the Spirit of the Lord upon him, Jephthah went in pursuit of the Ammonites and made a promise to the Lord God. Jephthah and the Israelites defeated the Ammonites, according to the will of the Lord God, and Jephthah was obligated to fulfill the words of his unbreakable vow. Over 200 years after Jephthah died, Samuel the  priest, prophet and judge was born into the tribe of Jacob and Leah's 3rd born son Levi, the birth tribe of Moses. When Samuel was elderly, and his sons Joel (Vashni) and Abiah (Abijah) were not obeying the commands of the Lord God, and King Nahash and his Ammonite army were preparing to attack, the Israelite elders demanded that Samuel appoint a king to lead them, and Samuel anointed Saul, from the tribe of Jacob and Rachel's 2nd and last son Benjamin to reign, according to the command of the Lord God. Over 1,000 years after the Lord God sent David to Bethlehem to anoint David, from the tribe of Jacob and Leah's 4th born son Judah, to reign as king, Jesus the Christ, the Son of God, was born. Jesus was conceived of the Holy Spirit in the womb of Mary, a virgin, and Jesus was born into the tribe of Judah to Mary and her husband Joseph when Mary was a virgin. The divinely inspired Scriptures of the Holy Bible reveal Jesus to be judge of the living and dead.-Genesis 11:26-50:26, Exodus, Numbers 20:1-29, 26:28-34, 27:12-23, 30:1-16, 32:1-42, Deuteronomy 23:21-23, 31:1-30, 32:44-52, 34:1-12, Joshua 1:1-4:24, 13:1-33, 16:1-18, 22:1-24:33, Judges, 1 Samuel, 1 Chronicles 1:1-34, 2:1-17, 3:1-24, 5:1-26, 8:1-40, 9:35-10:14, Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, Acts 1:1-26, 10:1-48, Hebrews 11:1-40
