...................................................................LET US LEARN TOGETHER WHAT IS GOOD. Job 34:4b(NIV)................................................................Some people see the Bible as a long and boring book filled with incidents and events from the lives of ancient people who probably never existed. The biblical stories are seen as fables. Notably, Romans 15:4 reveals: For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope.(KJV) In this blog, many of the situations and conversations found in the divinely inspired Scriptures of the Holy Bible have been placed in categories that correspond to expressive sayings and phrases. Reference information, background information and links connecting the people and places are given to help you find a place to begin reading the Bible for yourself.

I Tried to Tell Him

After all this, when Josiah had prepared the temple, Necho king of Egypt came up to fight against Carchemish by Euphrates: and Josiah went out against him. But he sent ambassadors to him, saying, What have I to do with thee, thou king of Judah? I come not against thee this day, but against the house wherewith I have war: for God commanded me to make haste: forbear thee from meddling with God, who is with me, that he destroy thee not. Nevertheless Josiah would not turn his face from him, but disguised himself, that he might fight with him, and hearkened not unto the words of Necho from the mouth of God, and came to fight in the valley of Megiddo. And the archers shot at king Josiah; and the king said to his servants, Have me away; for I am sore wounded. His servants therefore took him out of that chariot, and put him in the second chariot that he had; and they brought him to Jerusalem, and he died, and was buried in one of the sepulchres of his fathers. And all Judah and Jerusalem mourned for Josiah.-2 Chronicles 35:20-24***King Josiah was the 15th king to rule Judah, the southern nation in the Promised Land. Josiah led his fellow Israelites back to the Lord God after the Israelites spent years worshiping idols. Josiah removed all idolatrous items from the temple of the Lord that was built by his great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-grandfather King Solomon in Jerusalem. Solomon was the 3rd king to reign over all of the Israelites in the Promised Land, and in Solomon's elderly years, Solomon worshiped idols. Josiah kicked the occultists and false priests from the land and destroyed the shrines, altars, poles, and chariots that were dedicated to idols and used for false worship. Moreover, Josiah put the ark of the covenant of the Lord back in the temple, and gave commands for the temple's repair, and renewed the Israelites' covenant to follow and obey the Lord God. Josiah commemorated the Passover in a manner that had not been kept since Samuel, the priestprophet and  judge led the Israelites, before the rulership of kings began. Josiah's son Jehoahaz was the 16th king to rule Judah. Pharaoh Necho (Nechoh), ruler of Egypt, took Jehoahaz captive and installed Josiah's son Jehoiakim (Eliakim) as king. During Jehoiakim's reign, the Babylonians (Chaldeans) invaded Judah and Jerusalem and King Nebuchadnezzar, ruler of Babylon, began looting the temple of the Lord. During the reign of Jehoiakim's son King Jehoiachin (Jeconiah/Coniah), the 18th king to rule Judah, the Babylonians took more prominent Israelites, including Jehoiachin and his family, to Babylon. During the reign of Jehoiakim's brother King Zedekiah (Mattaniah), the 19th king to rule Judah, the Babylonians conquered Jerusalem, according to the will of the Lord God, due to the idolatry and other wickedness of the Israelites. Over 500 years after Israelites began returning to Judah and Jerusalem, Jesus the Christ, the Son of God, was born. Jesus was conceived of the Holy Spirit in the womb of Mary, a virgin, and Jesus was born into the tribe of Judah, the birth tribe of Solomon and all of Judah's kings, to Mary and her husband Joseph when Mary was a virgin. After Joseph received a warning from an angel of the Lord, Joseph, Mary and Jesus stayed in Egypt for awhile. After Joseph received another message from an angel of the Lord, Joseph, Mary and Jesus left Egypt and returned to live among the Israelites. After Joseph received another divine warning, Joseph, Mary and Jesus lived in Nazareth, Galilee. Nazareth was the hometown of Joseph and Mary.-Genesis 11:26-50:26, Exodus, Numbers 20:1-29, 27:12-23, Deuteronomy 31:1-30, 32:44-52, 34:1-12, Joshua 1:1-4:24, 23:1-24:33, Judges 1:1-2:23, 1 Samuel 1:1-3:21, 8:1-31:13, 2 Samuel, 1 Kings, 2 Kings, 1 Chronicles 1:1-34, 2:1-17, 3:1-24, 6:1-81, 10:1-29:30, 2 Chronicles, Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, Acts 1:1-26
