From a letter written by Peter (Simon)
to believers dispersed throughout Asia Minor:
to believers dispersed throughout Asia Minor:
Dearly beloved, I beseech you as strangers and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts, which war against the soul; Having your conversation honest among the Gentiles: that, whereas they speak against you as evildoers, they may by your good works, which they shall behold, glorify God in the day of visitation. Submit yourselves to every ordinance of man for the Lord's sake: whether it be to the king, as supreme; Or unto governors, as unto them that are sent by him for the punishment of evildoers, and for the praise of them that do well. For so is the will of God, that with well doing ye may put to silence the ignorance of foolish men: As free, and not using your liberty for a cloke of maliciousness, but as the servants of God. Honour all men. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honour the king.-1 Peter 2:11-17***Simon Peter was an Israelite from Bethsaida, Galilee, a northern province ruled by the Roman Empire. Simon Peter worked as a fisherman and was a disciple and an apostle of Jesus the Christ, the Son of God. After Jesus was betrayed, arrested, crucified, buried in a tomb, resurrected, seen by over 500 people, and returned to heaven less than 33 1/2 years after he was conceived of the Holy Spirit in the womb of Mary, a virgin, and born into the tribe of Judah to Mary and her husband Joseph when Mary was a virgin, Simon Peter helped others live their lives for Jesus the Christ. Simon Peter was involved with helping Matthias, an Israelite, serve the Lord. Moreover, Simon Peter helped Cornelius, a Gentile, a person not born into the Israelite tribes, serve the Lord.-Genesis 11:26-35:29, 1 Chronicles 1:1-34, 2:1-17, 3:1-24, Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, Acts 1:1-15:41, Galatians 1:1-2:21, 1 Peter, 2 Peter
