And he spake a parable unto them, Can the blind lead the blind? shall they not both fall into the ditch? The disciple is not above his master: but every one that is perfect shall be as his master. And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but perceivest not the beam that is in thine own eye? Either how canst thou say to thy brother, Brother, let me pull out the mote that is in thine eye, when thou thyself beholdest not the beam that is in thine own eye? Thou hypocrite, cast out first the beam out of thine own eye, and then shalt thou see clearly to pull out the mote that is in thy brother's eye. For a good tree bringeth not forth corrupt fruit; neither doth a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit. For every tree is known by his own fruit. For of thorns men do not gather figs, nor of a bramble bush gather they grapes. A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh. And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say? Whosoever cometh to me, and heareth my sayings, and doeth them, I will shew you to whom he is like: He is like a man which built an house, and digged deep, and laid the foundation on a rock: and when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently upon that house, and could not shake it: for it was founded upon a rock. But he that heareth, and doeth not, is like a man that without a foundation built an house upon the earth; against which the stream did beat vehemently, and immediately it fell; and the ruin of that house was great.-Luke 6:39-49***Job was a husband, father, and wealthy owner of property and animals. Job's 7 sons and 3 daughters were killed, as permitted by the Lord God, after a violent wind destroyed the home of Job's oldest son, wherein all of Job's children were gathered. Abraham (Abram the Hebrew) was a friend of God. Lot was the nephew of Abraham and Sarah (Sarai). Abraham and Lot were wealthy, with possessions that included farm animals and tents. Lot's home in Sodom was destroyed, along with everything else in Sodom, Gomorrah, Admah, and Zeboim, when the Lord God rained brimstone and fire upon the cities and regions. Obed-edom the Gittite was an Israelite, a descendant of Abraham and Sarah, their son Isaac and his wife Rebekah, and Isaac and Rebekah's youngest fraternal twin son Jacob (Israel). Obed-edom was possibly identified as a Gittite because his home was probably in Gathrimmon, a city in the Promised Land inhabited by Levites, Israelites from the tribe of Levi. Levi was the 3rd son born to Jacob and his 1st wife Leah. David was an Israelite from the tribe of Jacob and Leah's 4th born son Judah. When David was 30 years old, he began to reign only over the tribe of Judah in the Promised Land. When David was 37 1/2 years old, he became the 2nd king to reign over all of the Israelite tribes. After David placed the ark of the covenant of the Lord God in Obed-edom's home, Obed-edom, and his home and household were blessed by the Lord God. Before the ark of the covenant was placed in the home of Obed-edom, David and the Israelites with him had successfully retrieved the ark from the home of Abinadab. The ark of the covenant had been in Abinadab's home for 20 years after incidents involving the Philistines and an incident that involved the Israelites of Beth-shemesh. Solomon, the 2nd child born to David and Bathsheba, was the 3rd king to reign over all of the Israelites. In Jerusalem, Solomon built the temple of the Lord, a house for the name of the Lord. Solomon's great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-grandson Zedekiah (Mattaniah) was the 19th king to rule Judah, the southern nation in the Promised Land. During the 11th year of Zedekiah's reign, the Babylonians (Chaldeans) conquered Jerusalem and looted and burned the temple. Over 500 years after Israelites began returning to Judah and Jerusalem, Jesus the Christ, the Son of God, was born. Jesus was conceived of the Holy Spirit in the womb of Mary, a virgin, and Jesus was born into the tribe of Judah to Mary and her husband Joseph when Mary was a virgin. Approximately 30 years after Jesus was born to Joseph and Mary, Jesus was baptized in the Jordan River by Mary's relative John the Baptist, from the tribe of Levi. Jesus having prayed, the heavens tearing open, the Holy Spirit descended as a dove and lit upon Jesus. The Lord God in heaven audibly acknowledged his Son Jesus, and the Holy Spirit led Jesus into the desert wilderness. Jesus fasted for 40 days and nights and was tempted. Afterwards, Jesus was tended to by angels, and Jesus went to the area near John the Baptist, and John the Baptist proclaimed Jesus to be the Lamb of God taking away the sin of the world.
