And there were four leprous men at the entering in of the gate: and they said one to another, Why sit we here until we die? If we say, We will enter into the city, then the famine is in the city, and we shall die there: and if we sit here, we die also. Now therefore come, and let us fall unto the host of the Syrians: if they save us alive, we shall live; and if they kill us, we shall but die. And they rose up in the twilight, to go unto the camp of the Syrians: and when they were come to the uttermost part of the camp of Syria, behold, there was no man there. And when these lepers came to the uttermost part of the camp, they went into one tent, and did eat and drink, and carried thence silver, and gold, and raiment, and went and hid it; and came again, and entered into another tent, and carried thence also, and went and hid it.-2 Kings 7:3-8***When the Lord God gave laws to Moses and Moses' older brother Aaron for the Israelites, the Lord God commanded that when anyone among them seemed to have the beginning of a troubling skin condition, the person was to be brought to the priest. The priest was to make an examination and specific steps and procedures were to be thoroughly followed. Anyone determined to be leprous was to be pronounced unclean by the priest. Lepers had to tear the clothes they were wearing, keep their head uncovered, wear a covering over their upper lip, proclaim that they were unclean, and live on the outskirts of the place wherein the rest of the Israelites dwelt. At least 4 lepers were living outside the walls of Samaria, the royal city of the northern nation of Israel in the Promised Land, when the Syrians (Arameans) arrived to launch another attack. However, the Lord God caused the Syrians to hear such sounds that the Syrians were frightened and ran away. Over 100 years thereafter, Pekah became the 18th king to rule over all of the Israelites in the northern nation of Israel. During Pekah's reign, the Assyrians invaded the kingdom and King Tiglath-pileser, ruler of Assyria, began taking Israelites to Assyria. During the reign of King Hoshea, the 19th king to rule the northern nation, the Assyrians conquered Samaria, according to the will of the Lord God, due to the idolatry and other wickedness of the Israelites. Less than 140 years after Samaria was conquered, the Babylonians (Chaldeans) invaded Judah, the southern nation in the Promised Land, and conquered the royal city, Jerusalem, according to the will of the Lord God, due to the idolatry and other wickedness of the Israelites. Over 500 years after Israelites began returning to Judah and Jerusalem, Jesus the Christ, the Son of God, was born. Jesus was conceived of the Holy Spirit in the womb of Mary, a virgin, and Jesus was born into the tribe of Judah to Mary and her husband Joseph when Mary was a virgin. Approximately 30 years after Jesus was born to Joseph and Mary, Jesus was baptized in the Jordan River by Mary's relative John the Baptist. The Holy Spirit descended as a dove and lit upon Jesus, and the Lord God in heaven audibly acknowledged his Son Jesus, and the Holy Spirit led Jesus into the desert wilderness. Jesus fasted for 40 days and nights and was tempted. Afterwards, Jesus was tended to by angels, and Jesus went to the area near John the Baptist, and John the Baptist proclaimed Jesus to be the Lamb of God taking away the sin of the world. In Galilee, Jesus told specific Israelite men to follow him, and Jesus began to preach, teach and perform miracles among the Israelites. A leper worshiped and spoke to Jesus in Galilee. In Bethany, Jesus went inside the home of a leper.
