The One and Only

And the men of Gibeon sent unto Joshua to the camp to Gilgal, saying, Slack not thy hand from thy servants; come up to us quickly, and save us, and help us: for all the kings of the Amorites that dwell in the mountains are gathered together against us. So Joshua ascended from Gilgal, he, and all the people of war with him, and all the mighty men of valour. And the LORD said unto Joshua, Fear them not: for I have delivered them into thine hand; there shall not a man of them stand before thee. Joshua therefore came unto them suddenly, and went up from Gilgal all night. And the LORD discomfited them before Israel, and slew them with a great slaughter at Gibeon, and chased them along the way that goeth up to Beth-horon, and smote them to Azekah, and unto Makkedah. And it came to pass, as they fled from before Israel, and were in the going down to Beth-horon, that the LORD cast down great stones from heaven upon them unto Azekah, and they died: they were more which died with hailstones than they whom the children of Israel slew with the sword. Then spake Joshua to the LORD in the day when the LORD delivered up the Amorites before the children of Israel, and he said in the sight of Israel, Sun, stand thou still upon Gibeon; and thou Moon, in the valley of Ajalon. And the sun stood still, and the moon stayed, until the people had avenged themselves upon their enemies. Is not this written in the book of Jasher? So the sun stood still in the midst of heaven, and hasted not to go down about a whole day. And there was no day like that before it or after it, that the LORD hearkened unto the voice of a man: for the LORD fought for Israel.-Joshua 10:6-14***Less than 3 months after Moses and his older brother Aaron led their fellow Israelites, and those with them, away from Egyptian slavery, across the divinely parted Red Sea, and into the desert wilderness of Shur, according to the commands of the Lord God, the Amalekites attacked. Moses told Joshua to select men and fight the enemies, and Moses told Joshua that he would stand on the hill with the staff of the Lord God in his hand. During the battle, the Israelites were victorious when Moses' hand was raised. Whenever Moses dropped his hand, the Israelites began to lose. Thus, while on the hill with Moses, Aaron and Hur gave Moses a sizable stone to sit upon, and one of them kept Moses' right hand raised while the other kept Moses' left hand raised. During the 40th year of their journey to Canaan, the Promised Land, 123-yer-old Aaron died and was buried upon Mount Hor, and Moses went upon Mount Nebo. The Lord God showed Moses the Promised Land, and 120-year-old Moses died and was divinely buried. Joshua, Moses' successor, was from the tribe of Ephraim, descended from Abraham (Abram the Hebrew) and Sarah (Sarai), Isaac and Rebekah, Jacob (Israel) and his 2nd wife Rachel, their firstborn son Joseph and his wife Asenath, and Joseph and Asenath's 2nd born son Ephraim, whom Jacob proclaimed to be his own son. Joshua led his fellow Israelites across the divinely parted Jordan River and onto the land that the Lord God promised to give to Abraham, and Isaac, and to Jacob, and their descendants. Shortly thereafter, the Israelites marched around Jericho once a day for 6 days, with 7 priests, each of whom held a rams' horn trumpet. The 7th day, the Israelites marched 7 times, the priests' made a longer sound with the trumpets, the Israelites shouted, the wall around Jericho collapsed, and the Israelites were victorious, according to the will of the Lord God. When the Gibeonites learned of the Israelites' victories at Jericho and Ai, they deceptively entered into a peace agreement with the Israelites. When King Adoni-zedek, a ruler in Canaan, learned of the victories and the covenant, he summoned 4 other kings to help him attack the Gibeonites. The Gibeonites sought assistance from Joshua, and the Lord God assured Joshua of success. Over 1,300 years after 110-year-old Joshua died and was buried in his tribe's portion of the Promised Land, Jesus the Christ, the Son of God, was born. Jesus was conceived of the Holy Spirit in the womb of Mary, a virgin, and Jesus was born into the tribe of Judah to Mary and her husband Joseph when Mary was a virgin.
