Water, Water, Over There and I Want a Drop to Drink

These be the names of the mighty men whom David had: The Tachmonite that sat in the seat, chief among the captains; the same was Adino the Eznite: he lift up his spear against eight hundred, whom he slew at one time. And after him was Eleazar the son of Dodo the Ahohite, one of the three mighty men with David, when they defied the Philistines that were there gathered together to battle, and the men of Israel were gone away: he arose, and smote the Philistines until his hand was weary, and his hand clave unto the sword: and the LORD wrought a great victory that day; and the people returned after him only to spoil. And after him was Shammah the son of Agee the Hararite. And the Philistines were gathered together into a troop, where was a piece of ground full of lentiles: and the people fled from the Philistines. But he stood in the midst of the ground, and defended it, and slew the Philistines: and the LORD wrought a great victory. And three of the thirty chief went down, and came to David in the harvest time unto the cave of Adullam: and the troop of the Philistines pitched in the valley of Rephaim. And David was then in an hold, and the garrison of the Philistines was then in Bethlehem. And David longed, and said, Oh that one would give me drink of the water of the well of Bethlehem, which is by the gate! And the three mighty men brake through the host of the Philistines, and drew water out of the well of Bethlehem, that was by the gate, and took it, and brought it to David: nevertheless he would not drink thereof, but poured it out unto the LORD. And he said, Be it far from me, O LORD, that I should do this: is not this the blood of the men that went in jeopardy of their lives? therefore he would not drink it. These things did these three mighty men.-2 Samuel 23:8-17***Over 300 years after Joshua led his fellow Israelites across the divinely parted  Jordan River and onto the Promised Land, the Israelite elders told  Samuel, the priest, prophet and judge, that they wanted to be led by a king. The Lord God sent Samuel to anoint Saul to reign. Saul did not obey the commands of the Lord God. While Saul was reigning, the Lord God sent Samuel to anoint David to reign as king. Saul wanted  David dead, and he tried to kill David. Moreover, Saul wanted his servants and his son Jonathan to kill David. David ran to Samuel in Ramah, and went to speak with Jonathan, and went to Nob, to  Ahimelech the priest. Ahimelech wanted to know if David was alone, and David stated that his men were waiting for him at a specific place. David left Nob and went to Gath, the Philistine city and hometown of Goliath, the gigantic Philistine whom David had killed and beheaded. When David was staying in a cave in Adullam, many discontented, distressed, in debt, and fearful men gathered to David. After a series of battles, David's men developed a reputation for being distinctive warriors. Several of them became even more distinguishably recognized. Three of the most fierce and loyal fighters on David's side went beyond a grup of Philistines and went to Bethlehem, David's hometown. After Saul's self-inflicted death on the battlefield, 30-year-old David began to reign only over the tribe of Judah, the tribe of his birth. Saul's son Ishbosheth (Eshbaal) reigned over the other Israelite tribes. After Ishbosheth was murdered, the Israelite elders journeyed to David and David made a covenant with them. The elders anointed David and 37 1/2-year-old David became the 2nd king to reign over all of the Israelites. Over 900 years after Solomon, the 2nd son born to David and Bathsheba, became the 2nd king to reign over all of the Israelites, Jesus the Christ, the Son of God, was born. Jesus was conceived of the Holy Spirit in the womb of Mary, a virgin, and Jesus was born into the tribe of Judah to Mary and her husband Joseph when Mary was a virgin. Approximately 30 years after Jesus was born to Joseph and Mary, Jesus was baptized in the Jordan River. Shortly thereafter, Jesus began to preach, teach and perform miracles among the Israelites. While speaking to a group of Pharisees, Jesus taught about David, his men, Ahimelech, and the Sabbath day.-Genesis 11:26-50:26, Exodus, Numbers 20:1-29, 27:12-23, Deuteronomy 31:1-30, 32:44-52, 34:1-12, Joshua 1:1-4:24, 23:1-24:33, Judges 1:1-2:23, 1 Samuel, 2 Samuel, 1 Kings 1:1-11:43, 1 Chronicles 1:1-34, 2:1-17, 3:1-24, 7:20-39, 10:1-29:30, 2 Chronicles 1:1-9:31,  Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, Acts 1:1-26, 6:1-8:4
