Love and Marriage

From a letter written by the apostle Paul,

with Sosthenes,

to believers in Corinth and everywhere:

Now concerning the things whereof ye wrote unto me: It is good for a man not to touch a woman. Nevertheless, to avoid fornication, let every man have his own wife, and let every woman have her own husband. Let the husband render unto the wife due benevolence: and likewise also the wife unto the husband. The wife hath not power of her own body, but the husband: and likewise also the husband hath not power of his own body, but the wife. Defraud ye not one the other, except it be with consent for a time, that ye may give yourselves to fasting and prayer; and come together again, that Satan tempt you not for your incontinency. But I speak this by permission, and not of commandment. For I would that all men were even as I myself. But every man hath his proper gift of God, one after this manner, and another after that. I say therefore to the unmarried and widows, It is good for them if they abide even as I. But if they cannot contain, let them marry: for it is better to marry than to burn.-1 Corinthians 7:1-9***Abraham (Abram the Hebrew) was a friend of God. The Lord God promised to give Canaan, a land inhabited by idol worshipers, to Abraham's descendants and to Abraham. Isaac was the only child born to Abraham and Sarah (Sarai). Sarah was Abraham's wife and half sister. The Lord God promised to give Canaan to Isaac and his descendants. Fraternal twin sons Esau (Edom) and Jacob (Israel) were the only children born to Isaac and his wife Rebekah, Abraham and Sarah's grandniece. The Lord God promised to give Canaan to Jacob and his descendants. Seven years after Jacob heard the Lord God speaking of Canaan to him, Jacob married Rebekah's nieces Leah and Rachel, the daughters of Rebekah's brother Laban the Syrian. When Jacob was 130 years old, he moved with his family from Canaan to Egypt, the country wherein Joseph, the 1st son born to Jacob and Rachel, was second-in-command. Sometime after 147-year-old Jacob died in Egypt and his body was buried in Canaan, and Joseph and his siblings were dead, their descendants the Israelites were enslaved in Egypt. Amram and Jochebed were born into the tribe of Jacob and Leah's 3rd born son Levi. Jochebed was Aaron's aunt, and they married, and Miriam, Aaron and Moses were born to them in Egypt. When Moses was 80 years old and Aaron was 83, the Lord God sent them to speak to the Israelite elders and Pharaoh, the king of Egypt. Moses was married to Zipporah, a Midianite woman descended from Abraham and his 2nd wife Keturah, and Abraham and Keturah's son Midian. Aaron was married to Elisheba, from the tribe of Judah, descended from Jacob and Leah's 4th born son Judah. After the Lord God brought the 10th and final plague upon Pharaoh and Egypt, Pharaoh told Moses and Aaron to take the Israelites and their animals and go serve the Lord God. Moses and Aaron led the Israelites, and those with them, away from Egypt, across the divinely parted Red Sea, and into the desert wilderness of Shur. In the desert wilderness of Sinai, near the region of Mount Sinai, the Israelites heard the voice of the Lord God proclaim the Ten Commandments to them, and the Lord God began giving Moses judgments, statutes and laws for the Israelites. During their journey to Canaan, the Promised Land, the Lord God gave Moses laws regarding maidens, wives, husbands, potential brides, divorce, and widows. Moses became known as the prophet whom the Lord God knew face to face. During their 40-year journey, Miriam died and was buried in Kadesh, in the desert wilderness of Zin. Upon Mount Hor, 123-year-old Aaron died and was buried. When Moses went upon Mount Nebo, the Lord God showed Moses the Promised Land, and 120-year-old Moses died and was divinely buried. Joshua, Moses' successor, was from the tribe of Ephraim, descended from Joseph and his wife Asenath, and Joseph and Asenath's 2nd born son Ephraim, whom Jacob proclaimed to be his own son. Approximately 400 years after Joshua led the Israelites across the divinely parted Jordan River and onto the Promised Land, David, from the tribe of Judah, became the 2nd king to reign over all of the Israelites. David was a man after God's own heart. Moreover, David was the husband of many women, and many children were born to David, his wives and concubines. The 12th king to rule Judah, the southern nation in the Promised Land, was Hezekiah, the great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-grandson of David and  Bathsheba. The divinely inspired Scriptures of the Holy Bible reveal that among Judah's kings, Hezekiah's trust in the Lord God was unparalleled. Hezekiah's great-grandson Josiah was the 15th king to rule Judah. Josiah was the king who turned to the Lord God with all of his heart, soul and might. Over 600 years after 39-year-old Josiah died from wounds in a battle against Pharaoh Necho (Neco/Nechoh), ruler of Egypt, Jesus the Christ, the Son of God, was born. Jesus was conceived of the Holy Spirit in the womb of Mary, a virgin, and Jesus was born into the tribe of Judah, the tribe of Judah's kings, to Mary and her husband Joseph when Mary was a virgin. Approximately 30 years after Jesus was born to Joseph and Mary, Jesus was baptized in the Jordan River by Mary's relative John the Baptist, from the tribe of Levi. Jesus having prayed, the heavens tearing open, the Holy Spirit descended as a dove and lit upon Jesus. The Lord God in heaven audibly acknowledged his Son Jesus, and the Holy Spirit led Jesus into the desert wilderness. Jesus fasted for 40 days and nights and was tempted. Afterwards, Jesus was tended to by angels, and Jesus went to the area near John the Baptist, and John the Baptist proclaimed Jesus to be the Lamb of God taking away the sin of the world. In Galilee, Jesus told specific Israelite men to follow him, and Jesus began to preach, teach and perform miracles among the Israelites. Before Jesus was  betrayed, arrested, crucified, buried in a tomb, resurrected, and returned to heaven less than 3 1/2 years after he was baptized, Jesus spoke of marriage, divorce and widows. Paul (Saul) was an Israelite from the tribe of Jacob and Rachel's 2nd and last son Benjamin. Paul did not believe Jesus to be the Christ. Throughout Jerusalem, Paul persecuted and imprisoned any Israelite who believed Jesus to be the Christ of God. When Paul was journeying to the synagogues in Damascus, Syria, to find, bind and take to Jerusalem any Israelite believers he found, Paul and those with him saw a light from heaven flash around them. Paul heard the voice of Jesus speaking to him, and Paul spoke to Jesus and obeyed Jesus. In Damascus, Paul was baptized.
