...................................................................LET US LEARN TOGETHER WHAT IS GOOD. Job 34:4b(NIV)................................................................Some people see the Bible as a long and boring book filled with incidents and events from the lives of ancient people who probably never existed. The biblical stories are seen as fables. Notably, Romans 15:4 reveals: For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope.(KJV) In this blog, many of the situations and conversations found in the divinely inspired Scriptures of the Holy Bible have been placed in categories that correspond to expressive sayings and phrases. Reference information, background information and links connecting the people and places are given to help you find a place to begin reading the Bible for yourself.

The Whole Generation, including you

And Abraham journeyed from thence toward the south country, and dwelled between Kadesh and Shur, and sojourned in Gerar. And Abraham said of Sarah his wife, She is my sister: and Abimelech king of Gerar sent, and took Sarah. But God came to Abimelech in a dream by night, and said to him, Behold, thou art but a dead man, for the woman which thou has taken; for she is a man's wife. But Abimelech had not come near her: and he said, LORD, wilt thou slay also a righteous nation? Said he not unto me, She is my sister? and she, even she herself said, He is my brother: in the integrity of my heart and innocency of my hands have I done this. And God said unto him in a dream, Yea, I know that thou did this in the integrity of thy heart; for I also withheld thee from sinning against me: therefore suffered I thee not to touch her. Now therefore restore the man his wife; for he is a prophet, and he shall pray for thee, and thou shalt live: and if thou restore her not, know thou that thou shalt surely die, thou, and all that are thine.-Genesis 20:1-7***When Abraham (Abram the Hebrew) and Sarah (Sarai) and their nephew Lot journeyed from Canaan to Egypt during a time of famine, Sarah was at least 65 years old and very beautiful. Abraham believed that the Egyptians would want to keep Sarah and kill him. Thus, Abraham told Sarah, his wife and half sister, to identify herself as his sister. Sarah was taken to the royal palace until the Lord God sent a calamity, and Pharaoh, the king of Egypt, returned Sarah to Abraham. When Sarah was over 85 years old, she journeyed with Abraham to Gerar in Canaan. Abraham identified Sarah as his sister, and King Abimelech, ruler of the Philistines in Gerar, wanted Sarah. When Abraham was 100 years old, Isaac was born to Abraham and 90-year-old Sarah. When Sarah was 127 years old, she died. When Isaac was 40 years old, he was married to Rebekah, Abraham and Sarah's grandniece. When Isaac was 60 years old, fraternal twin sons Esau (Edom) and Jacob (Israel) were born to Isaac and Rebekah. Decades thereafter, Jacob was married to Rebekah's nieces Leah and Rachel, the daughters of Rebekah's brother Laban the Syrian (Aramean). Over 1,900 years after Judah was born to Jacob and Leah, Jesus the Christ, the Son of God, was born. Jesus was conceived of the Holy Spirit in the womb of Mary, a virgin, and Jesus was born into the tribe of Judah to Mary and her husband Joseph when Mary was a virgin.-Genesis 11:26-50:26, Exodus, Numbers 20:1-29, 27:12-23, Deuteronomy 31:1-30, 32:44-52, 34:1-12, Joshua 1:1-4:24, 1 Chronicles 1:1-34, 2:1-17, 3:1-24, Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, Acts 1:1-26

Then came Amalek, and fought with Israel in Rephidim. And Moses said unto Joshua, Choose us out men, and go out, fight with Amalek: tomorrow I will stand on the top of the hill with the rod of God in mine hand. So Joshua did as Moses had said to him, and fought with Amalek: and Moses, Aaron, and Hur went up to the top of the hill. And it came to pass, when Moses held up his hand, that Israel prevailed: and when he let down his hand, Amalek prevailed. But Moses' hands were heavy; and they took a stone, and put it under him, and he sat thereon; and Aaron and Hur stayed up his hands, the one on the one side, and the other on the other side; and his hands were steady until the going down of the sun. And Joshua discomfited Amalek and his people with the edge of the sword. And the LORD said unto Moses, Write this for a memorial in a book, and rehearse it in the ears of Joshua: for I will utterly put out the remembrance of Amalek from under heaven. And Moses built an altar and called the name of it Jehovah-nissi: For he said, Because the LORD hath sworn that the LORD will have war with Amalek from generation to generation.-Exodus 17:8-16***Joshua was the aide and future successor of Moses. Miriam and Aaron were the older siblings of Moses. Before 80-year-old Moses and 83-year-old Aaron led the Israelites away from Egyptian slavery, Aaron began speaking the words of the Lord God to the Israelites, according to the command of the Lord God. Hur was trusted, along with Aaron, to resolve matters that the Israelites faced while Moses was upon Mount Sinai 40 days and nights with the Lord God. A group of Amalekites lived near the region of the Egyptian border. Over 600 years before the Amalekites attacked the Israelites, a group of Amalekites were beaten by the 4 kings who kidnapped Lot, the nephew of Abraham (Abram the Hebrew) and Sarah (Sarai). The Israelites descended from Abraham and Sarah, their son Isaac and his wife Rebekah, and Isaac and Rebekah's youngest fraternal twin son Jacob (Israel). Isaac and Rebekah's oldest fraternal twin son Esau (Edom) was the grandfather of a group of Amalekites. When the Israelites were exhausted after crossing the divinely parted Red Sea and journeying through the desert wilderness of Shur, and the desert wilderness of Sin, and entering Rephidim, the actions of Moses, Joshua, Aaron, and Hur helped lead the Israelites, the treasured and chosen people of the Lord God, to victory. However, the Amalekites managed to kill the slowest movers among the Israelites.-Genesis 11:26-50:26, Exodus, Numbers 13:1-14:45, 20:1-29, 27:12-23, Deuteronomy 25:17-19, 31:1-30, 32:44-52, 34:1-12, Joshua 1:1-4:24, 1 Chronicles 1:1-4:23, 6:1-81, 7:20-29, 1 Samuel 15:1-37, Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, Acts 1:1-26
