Is He Is

And it came to pass, when Jesus had made an end of commanding his twelve disciples, he departed thence to teach and to preach in their cities. Now when John had heard in the prison the works of Christ, he sent two of his disciples, And said unto him, Art thou he that should come, or do we look for another? Jesus answered and said unto them, Go and shew John again those things which ye do hear and see: The blind receive their sight, and the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, and the deaf hear, the dead are raised up, and the poor have the gospel preached to them. And blessed is he, whosoever shall not be offended in me.-Matthew 11:1-6***John the Baptist was conceived by his elderly parents Zechariah (Zacharias) the priest and Elizabeth (Elisabeth) months before Jesus the Christ, the Son of God, was conceived of the Holy Spirit in the womb of Elizabeth's relative Mary, a virgin. When Jesus the Christ was in Mary's womb and John the Baptist was in Elizabeth's womb, Mary went to visit Elizabeth. After Elizabeth heard Mary's voice, John the Baptist leaped in Elizabeth's womb, and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit (Holy Ghost). Months after John the Baptist was born into the Israelite tribe of Levi to Zechariah and Elizabeth, Jesus the Christ was born into the Israelite tribe of Judah to Mary and her husband Joseph when Mary was a virgin. Approximately 30 years after John the Baptist and Jesus the Christ were born, Jesus was baptized in the Jordan River by John the Baptist. Jesus having prayed, the heavens tearing open, John the Baptist saw the Holy Spirit descend as a dove and the Holy Spirit lit upon Jesus. The Lord God in heaven audibly acknowledged his Son Jesus, and the Holy Spirit led Jesus into the desert wilderness. Jesus fasted for 40 days and nights and was tempted. Afterwards, Jesus was tended to by angels, and Jesus went to the area near John the Baptist. While John the Baptist was speaking to his disciple Andrew and another disciple, John the Baptist proclaimed Jesus to be the  Lamb of God. In Galilee, Jesus told specific Israelite men, including Andrew, to follow him, and Jesus began to preach, teach and perform miracles among the Israelites. Meanwhile, Herod Antipas the tetrarch, ruler of Galilee for the Roman Empire, put John the Baptist in prison for speaking against Herod's marriage to sister-in-law Herodias, and for other reasons. While imprisoned, John the Baptist heard of the miracles Jesus was performing and sent disciples to speak to Jesus. Sometime thereafter, John the Baptist was beheaded. Less than 3 1/2 years after Jesus was baptized, Jesus was betrayed, arrested, crucified, buried in a tomb, resurrected, seen by over 500 people, and returned to heaven.-Genesis 11:26-35:29, 1 Chronicles 1:1-34, 2:1-17, 3:1-24, 6:1-81, Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, Acts 1:1-26
