If - Then

Psalm 124

If it had not been the LORD who was on our side, now may Israel say; If it had not been the LORD who was on our side, when men rose up against us: Then they had swallowed us up quick, when their wrath was kindled against us: Then the waters had overwhelmed us, the stream had gone over our soul: Then the proud waters had gone over our soul. Blessed be the LORD, who hath not given us as a prey to their teeth. Our soul is escaped as a bird out of the snare of the fowlers: the snare is broken, and we are escaped. Our help is in the name of the LORD, who made heaven and earth.-Psalm 124:1-8/the complete psalm***When Moses was 80 years old and his brother Aaron  was 83, they led their fellow Israelites away from Egyptian slavery, across the divinely parted Red Sea, and through the desert wilderness, according to the commands of the Lord God. During the 40th year of their journey to Canaan, the Promised Land, Aaron died and was buried upon Mount Hor and Moses went upon Mount Nebo. The Lord God showed Moses the Promised Land, and Moses died and was divinely buried. Joshua, Moses' successor, led the Israelites across the divinely parted Jordan River and onto the land that the Lord God promised to give to Abraham (Abram the Hebrew), and to Abraham's son Isaac, and to Isaac's youngest fraternal twin son Jacob (Israel), and to their descendants. The Israelites experienced the glory of the Lord God when the Lord God halted the downstream flow of the Jordan River so that the Israelites, his treasured and chosen people, could walk across. Throughout their years in the desert wilderness, and in the Promised Land living under the same leadership, and living in 2 separate kingdoms, the Lord God gave the Israelites victory over the Amalekites, Canaanites, Midianites, Amorites, Moabites, PhilistinesAmmonites, Arameans (Syrians), Assyrians, and other enemies, including the inhabitants of Bashan, Jericho and Ai. Over 500 years after the Assyrians invaded the northern nation of Israel and Samaria was conquered, and the Babylonians (Chaldeans) invaded Judah, the nation in the south, and Jerusalem was conquered, according to the will of the Lord God, due to the idolatry and other wickedness of the Israelites, Jesus the Christthe Son of God, was born. Jesus, the Savior of the world, was conceived of the Holy Spirit in the womb of Mary, a virgin, and Jesus was born into the tribe of Jacob's 4th born son Judah to Mary and her husband Joseph when Mary was a virgin. Approximately 30 years after Jesus was born to Joseph and Mary, Jesus was baptized in the Jordan River by Mary's relative John the Baptist. The Holy Spirit descended as a dove and lit upon Jesus, and the Lord God in heaven audibly acknowledged his Son Jesus, and the Holy Spirit led Jesus into the desert wilderness. For 40 days Jesus fasted and was tempted. Afterwards, Jesus was tended to by angels, and Jesus went to the area near John the Baptist, and John the Baptist proclaimed Jesus to be the Lamb of God taking away the sin of the world. In Galilee, Jesus told specific Israelite men to follow him, and Jesus began to preach, teach, and perform miracles among the Israelites.-Genesis 11:26-50:26, Exodus, Numbers 20:1-29, 27:12-23, Deuteronomy 1:1-3:29, 31:1-30, 32:44-52, 34:1-12, Joshua, Judges, 1 Samuel, 2 Samuel, 1 Kings, 2 Kings, 1 Chronicles 1:1-34, 2:1-17, 3:1-24, 6:1-81, 7:20-29, 10:1-29:30, 2 Chronicles, Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, Acts 1:1-26
