Attitude of Ingratitude

Then they told David, saying, Behold, the Philistines fight against Keilah, and they rob the threshingfloors. Therefore David enquired of the LORD, saying, Shall I go and smite these Philistines? And the LORD said unto David, Go, and smite the Philistines, and save Keilah. And David's men said unto him, Behold, we be afraid here in Judah: how much more then if we come to Keilah against the armies of the Philistines? Then David enquired of the LORD yet again. And the LORD answered him and said, Arise, go down to Keilah; for I will deliver the Philistines into thine hand. So David and his men went to Keilah, and fought with the Philistines, and brought away their cattle, and smote them with a great slaughter. So David saved the inhabitants of Keilah. And it came to pass, when Abiathar the son of Ahimelech fled to David to Keilah, that he came down with an ephod in his hand. And it was told Saul that David was come to Keilah. And Saul said, God hath delivered him into mine hand; for he is shut in, by entering into a town that hath gates and bars. And Saul called all the people together to war, to go down to Keilah, to besiege David and his men. And David knew that Saul secretly practised mischief against him; and he said to Abiathar the priest, Bring hither the ephod. Then said David, O LORD God of Israel, thy servant hath certainly heard that Saul seeketh to come to Keilah, to destroy the city for my sake. Will the men of Keilah deliver me up into his hand? will Saul come down, as thy servant hath heard? O LORD God of Israel, I beesech thee, tell thy servant. And the LORD said, He will come down. Then said David, Will the men of Keilah deliver me and my men into the hand of Saul? And the LORD said, They will deliver thee up.-1 Samuel 23:1-12***After Samuel the priest, prophet and judge anointed David to reign as king, according to the command of the Lord God, David continued herding sheep for his father Jesse. Afterwards, David began serving as a musician and an armor-bearer for King Saul, the reigning ruler and 1st king to reign over the Israelites in the Promised Land. After David killed Goliath the gigantic Philistine, David only worked for Saul. Jonathan, Saul's son, made a covenant with David. After Saul heard the Israelite women singing of David higher than they sang of him in a song, Saul was angry and wanted to kill David. Saul's daughter Michal was married to David and helped David escape from their home. David went to Samuel, and Jonathan, and to Ahimelech the priest in Nob, and to King Achish in Gath, Goliath's hometown, and to the cave of Adullam, in the portion of the Promised Land allotted to the tribe of Judah, the tribe of David's birth. At least 400 troubled men joined David. Meanwhile, Saul learned that Ahimelech provided David with sacred bread and Goliath's sword, and none of the other priests told, and Saul commanded that a group of priests be killed. David leaned that the Philistines were attacking Keilah, another city in the portion of the Promised Land allotted to the tribe of Judah. After seeking the will of the Lord God, David victoriously fought on behalf of the Israelites in Keilah. After Jonathan and 2 of his siblings were killed by the Philistines, and Saul's self-inflicted death on the same battlefield, men from the tribe of Judah anointed David, and 30-year-old David began to reign only over the tribe of Judah. Saul's son Ishbosheth (Eshbaal) reigned over the other Israelite tribes. After Ishbosheth was murdered, the Israelite elders went to David and David made a covenant with them. The elders anointed David, and 37 1/2-year-old David became the 2nd king to reign over all of the Israelites. Over 900 years after Solomon, the 2nd son born to David and Bathsheba, became the 3rd king to reign over all of the Israelites, Jesus the Christ, the Son of God, was born.
