From the words spoken by Moses
to his fellow Israelites:
He that is wounded in the stones, or hath his privy member cut off, shall not enter into the congregation of the LORD. A bastard shall not enter into the congregation of the LORD; even to his tenth generation shall he not enter into the congregation of the LORD. An Ammonite or Moabite shall not enter into the congregation of the LORD; even to their tenth generation shall they not enter into the congregation of the LORD for ever: Because they met you not with bread and with water in the way, when ye came forth out of Egypt; and because they hired against thee Balaam the son of Beor of Pethor of Mesopotamia, to curse thee. Nevertheless the LORD thy God would not hearken unto Balaam; but the LORD thy God turned the curse into a blessing unto thee, because the LORD thy God loved thee. Thou shalt not seek their peace nor their prosperity all thy days for ever. Thou shalt not abhor an Edomite; for he is thy brother: thou shalt not abhor an Egyptian; because thou wast a stranger in his land. The children that are begotten of them shall enter into the congregation of the LORD in their third generation.-Deuteronomy 23:1-8***The Ammonites were descendants of Lot and Lot's youngest daughter and the son, Ben-ammi, born to Lot and his daughter. The Moabites were descendants of Lot and Lot's oldest daughter, and the son Moab, born to Lot and his daughter. Lot was the grandson of Terah and the nephew of Terah's children Abraham (Abram the Hebrew) and Sarah (Sarai). The Edomites descended from Abraham and Sarah's son Isaac and his Rebekah, and Isaac and Rebekah's oldest fraternal twin son Esau (Edom). The Israelites descended from Esau's younger fraternal twin brother Jacob (Israel). When Jacob was 130 years old, he moved with his family from Canaan to Egypt, the country wherein Joseph, the 1st son born to Jacob and his 2nd wife Rachel, was second-in-command. Sometime after 147-year-old Jacob died in Egypt and his family buried his body in Canaan, and 110-year-old Joseph and his siblings were dead, their descendants were enslaved in Egypt. Miriam and her younger brothers Aaron and Moses were from the tribe of Levi, descended from Jacob and his 1st wife Leah, and Jacob and Leah's 3rd born son Levi. After the Lord God brought the 10th and final plague upon Egypt and Pharaoh, the ruler of Egypt, 80-year-old Moses and 83-year-old Aaron led the Israelites, and those with them, away from Egypt, across the divinely parted Red Sea, and into the desert wilderness of Shur. Months thereafter, the Lord God made a covenant with the Israelites, his treasured and chosen people. During the 40-year journey to Canaan, the Promised Land, Miriam died and was buried in Kadesh, in the desert wilderness of Zin. Upon Mount Hor, 123-year-old Aaron died. The same year, Moses spoke his last messages to the Israelites. When Moses went upon Mount Nebo, the Lord God showed Moses the Promised Land, and 120-year-old Moses died and was divinely buried. Joshua, Moses' successor, was from the tribe of Ephraim, descended from Joseph and his wife Asenath, and Joseph and Asenath's 2nd born son Ephraim, whom Jacob proclaimed to be his own son. Over 200 years after Joshua led the Israelites across the divinely parted Jordan River and onto the Promised Land, Boaz, from the tribe of Jacob and Leah's 4th born son Judah, became the husband of Ruth, a Moabite widow. Boaz and Ruth's son Obed was the father of Jesse, and Jesse was the father of David. Over a decade after David was born, Samuel the priest, prophet and judge from the tribe of Levi anointed David to reign as king, according to the command of the Lord God. When David was 30 years old, he began to reign only over the tribe of Judah. When David was 37 1/2 years old, he became the 2nd king to reign over all of the Israelites. Over 900 years after 70-year-old David died, Jesus the Christ, the Son of God was born.
