...................................................................LET US LEARN TOGETHER WHAT IS GOOD. Job 34:4b(NIV)................................................................Some people see the Bible as a long and boring book filled with incidents and events from the lives of ancient people who probably never existed. The biblical stories are seen as fables. Notably, Romans 15:4 reveals: For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope.(KJV) In this blog, many of the situations and conversations found in the divinely inspired Scriptures of the Holy Bible have been placed in categories that correspond to expressive sayings and phrases. Reference information, background information and links connecting the people and places are given to help you find a place to begin reading the Bible for yourself.

Just As You Said

Now after the death of Joshua it came to pass, that the children of Israel asked the LORD, saying, Who shall go up for us against the Canaanites first, to fight against them? And the LORD said, Judah shall go up: behold, I have delivered the land into his hand. And Judah said unto Simeon his brother, Come up with me into my lot, that we may fight against the Canaanites; and I likewise will go with thee into thy lot. So Simeon went with him. And Judah went up; and the LORD delivered the Canaanites and the Perizzites into their hand: and they slew of them in Bezek ten thousand men. And they found Adoni-bezek in Bezek: and they fought against him, and they slew the Canaanites and the Perizzites. But Adoni-bezek fled; and they pursued after him, and caught him, and cut off his thumbs and his great toes. And Adoni-bezek said, Threescore and ten kings, having their thumbs and their great toes cut off, gathered their meat under my table: as I have done, so God hath requited me. And they brought him to Jerusalem, and there he died.-Judges 1:1-7***The Lord God promised to give Canaan, land inhabited by idolaters, to Abraham (Abram the Hebrew), and to Abraham's son Isaacand to Isaac's youngest fraternal twin son Jacob (Israel), and to their descendants. When the Lord God spoke to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, the CanaanitesAmorites, Perizzites, and other idol worshiping inhabitants were living throughout Canaan. When Abraham was in a deep sleep, the Lord God told Abraham that Abraham's descendants would endure 400 years of affliction in a foreign nation. The Lord God said he would judge the nation, and Abraham's descendants would come out of the land with an abundance of valuable goods and live in Canaan. Joseph was the 1st son born to Jacob and his 2nd wife Rachel. When Joseph was at least 17 years old, his brothers sold him to merchants traveling to Egypt, and Joseph's brothers led Jacob to believe that Joseph was killed by a wild animal. The merchants sold Joseph to Potiphar, an Egyptian official. After Potiphar's wife made a false accusation, Potiphar put Joseph in the king's prison. At least 2 years after Joseph explained the meaning of a dream to the imprisoned cupbearer and the meaning of a dream to the imprisoned baker who served Pharaoh, the king of Egypt, Joseph explained the meaning of a dream to Pharaoh, and Pharaoh proclaimed Joseph to be second-in-command in Egypt. After the 2nd trip that Joseph's brothers made to Egypt to buy grain, Joseph identified himself to his brothers and told them to move with their families, including Jacob, from Canaan to Egypt. Moreover, Pharaoh wanted Joseph's family to move to Egypt. In Egypt, Jacob proclaimed Manasseh and Ephraim, the sons born to Joseph and his wife Asenath, to be his own sons. Sometime after 147-year-old Jacob died in Egypt and his family buried his body in Canaan, and Joseph and his siblings were dead,  their descendants the Israelites were enslaved in Egypt. Miriam and her younger brothers Aaron and Moses were from the tribe of Levi, descended from Jacob and his 1st wife Leah, and Jacob and Leah's 3rd born son Levi. When Moses was 80 years old and Aaron was 83, they led the Israelites away from Egypt, across the divinely parted Red Sea, and into the desert wilderness of Shur, according to the commands of the Lord God. During the 40-year journey to Canaan, the Promised Land, Miriam died and was buried in Kadesh, in the desert wilderness of Zin. Upon Mount Hor, 123-year-old Aaron died. When Moses went upon Mount Nebo, the Lord God showed Moses the Promised Land, and 120-year-old Moses died and was divinely buried. Joshua,  Moses' successor from the tribe of Ephraim, led the Israelites across the divinely parted Jordan River and onto the Promised Land. Joshua, and a leader from 9 1/2 of the Israelite tribes, and Aaron's son and successor Eleazar the priest allotted each tribe its portion of Canaan, according to the commands that the Lord God gave Moses. Reuben was the 1st son born to Jacob and Leah. Gad was the 1st son born to Jacob and Zilpah, Leah's maidservant. A leader from the tribe of Reuben, and the tribe of Gad, and a leader from the other 1/2 of the tribe of Manasseh were not needed to help allot the land because the Reubenites and Gadites had previously asked for permission to make their homes on the same side of the Jordan River that the Israelites had wandered through during their journey. Moses had given the Reubenites, Gadites and 1/2 the tribe of Manasseh conditional permission, and had given the Reubenites, Gadites, and 1/2 the tribe of Manasseh land, including pastureland conquered by the Israelites. The Reubenites, Gadites and the Manassites crossed the Jordan River, under the leadership of Joshua, and helped their fellow Israelites conquer portions of the Promised Land. Sometime after 110-year-old Joshua died and was buried in his tribe's portion of the Promised Land, the tribe of Jacob and Leah's 4th born son Judah asked the tribe of Jacob and Leah's 2nd born son Simeon to help them conquer their portion of land. Over 1,000 years after Saul, from the tribe of Jacob and Rachel's 2nd and last son Benjamin, became the 1st king to rule over the Israelites in the Promised Land, Jesus the Christ, the Son of God, was born. Jesus was conceived of the Holy Spirit in the womb of Mary, a virgin, and Jesus was born into the tribe of Judah to Mary and her husband Joseph when Mary was a virgin.-Genesis, Exodus, Numbers 20:1-29, 27:12-23, Deuteronomy 31:1-30, 32:44-52, 34:1-12, Joshua, Judges, 1 Samuel, 2 Samuel, 1 Kings, 2 Kings, 1 Chronicles 1:1-34, 2:1-17, 3:1-24, 6:1-81, 7:20-29, 10:1-29:20, 2 Chronicles, Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, Acts 1:1-26
