...................................................................LET US LEARN TOGETHER WHAT IS GOOD. Job 34:4b(NIV)................................................................Some people see the Bible as a long and boring book filled with incidents and events from the lives of ancient people who probably never existed. The biblical stories are seen as fables. Notably, Romans 15:4 reveals: For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope.(KJV) In this blog, many of the situations and conversations found in the divinely inspired Scriptures of the Holy Bible have been placed in categories that correspond to expressive sayings and phrases. Reference information, background information and links connecting the people and places are given to help you find a place to begin reading the Bible for yourself.

Some Explaining

From a letter written by the apostle Paul
to believers in Rome:

What shall we say then that Abraham our father, as pertaining to the flesh, hath found? For if Abraham were justified by works, he hath whereof to glory; but not before God. For what saith the scripture? Abraham believed God, and it was counted unto him for righteousness. Now to him that worketh is the reward not reckoned of grace, but of debt. But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness. Even as David also describeth the blessedness of the man, unto whom God imputeth righteousness without works, Saying, Blessed are they whose iniquities are forgiven, and whose sins are covered. Blessed is the man to whom the Lord will not impute sin.-Romans 4:1-8***Several years after the word of the Lord God spoke to Abraham (Abram the Hebrew) in a vision, and told Abraham not to fear, and identified the Lord God as Abraham's shield and very great reward, and Abraham questioned the Lord God and spoke to the Lord God about Abraham's childlessness, and heard the word of the Lord God assuring him that a son would be born to Abraham, and the Lord God gave Abraham a command in regard to the number of descendants Abraham would have, and Abraham believed the Lord God, and the Lord God accounted it to Abraham for righteousness, Ishmael was born to 86-year-old Abraham and Hagar, the maidservant of Abraham's wife Sarah (Sarai). When Abraham was 100 years old, Isaac was born to Abraham and 90-year-old Sarah. When Isaac was 40 years old, he became the husband of Rebekah, Abraham and Sarah's grandniece. Fraternal twin sons Esau (Edom) and Jacob (Israel) were born to 60-year-old Isaac and Rebekah. Jacob became the husband of Rebekah's nieces Leah and Rachel, the daughters of Rebekah's brother Laban the Syrian (Aramean). Reuben, Simeon, Levi, Judah, Issachar, Zebulun, and daughter Dinah were born to Jacob and Leah. Dan and Naphtali were born to Jacob and Bilhah, Rachel's maidservant. Gad and Asher were born to Jacob and Zilpah. Joseph and Benjamin were born to Jacob and Rachel. Over 300 years after 147-year-old Jacob died in Egypt and his family buried his body in Canaan, Miriam and her younger brothers Aaron and Moses were born into the tribe of Levi. Phinehas was the grandson of Aaron and his wife Elisheba. In the desert wilderness, years after Moses and Aaron led the Israelites away from Egyptian slavery, across the divinely parted Red Sea, and into the desert wilderness of Shur, a disturbance occurred that involved Zimri, an Israelite man, and Cozbi, a Midianite woman. The Midianites were descendants of Abraham and his 2nd wife Keturah, and Abraham and Keturah's son Midian. After Phinehas ended Zimri and Cozbi's actions, the Lord God gave Phinehas and Phinehas' descendants his covenant of peace, a covenant of an everlasting priesthood. The divinely inspired writer of Psalm 106 revealed that Phinehas' actions were accounted to Phinehas for righteousness. Over 1,400 years after Joshua, Moses' successor, led the Israelites across the divinely parted Jordan River and onto the Promised Land, Jesus the Christ, the Son of God, was born. Jesus was conceived of the Holy Spirit in the womb of Mary, a virgin, and Jesus was born into the tribe of Judah to Mary and her husband Joseph when Mary was a virgin. Approximately 30 years after Jesus was born to Joseph and Mary, Jesus was baptized in the Jordan River by Mary's relative John the Baptist, from the tribe of Levi. Jesus having prayed, the heavens tearing open, the Holy Spirit descended as a dove and lit upon Jesus. The Lord God in heaven audibly acknowledged his Son Jesus, and the Holy Spirit led Jesus into the desert wilderness. Jesus fasted for 40 days and nights and was tempted. Afterwards, Jesus was tended to by angels, and Jesus went to the area near John the Baptist, and John the Baptist proclaimed Jesus to be the Lamb of God taking away the sin of the world. In Galilee, Jesus told specific Israelite men to follow him, and Jesus began to preach teach and perform miracles among the Israelites, the treasured and chosen people of the Lord God. Less than 3 1/2 years after Jesus was baptized, Jesus was betrayed, by Judas Iscariot the disciple and apostle, and Jesus was arrested, crucified, buried in a tomb, resurrected, and returned to heaven. Paul (Saul) was an Israelite from the tribe of Benjamin and did not believe Jesus to be the Christ. Throughout Jerusalem, Paul persecuted and imprisoned  Israelites who believed Jesus to be the Christ of God. After Paul saw a light from heaven flash around him, and heard the voice of Jesus speaking to him, Paul spoke to Jesus, and obeyed Jesus, and in Damascus Paul was baptized. From thenceforward, Paul the apostle journeyed and wrote divinely inspired letters, teaching Israelites and Gentiles, people not born into the Israelite tribes, the good news of Jesus the Christ and everlasting life. In a letter to believers in Rome, Paul wrote about Abraham, and mentioned some of the words written over 900 years earlier by King David, the psalmist and 2nd king to reign over all of the Israelites in the Promised Land.-Genesis 11:26-50:26, Exodus, Numbers 20:1-29, 25:1-18, 27:12-23, Deuteronomy 31:1-30, 32:44-52, 34:1-12, Joshua 1:1-4:24, 23:1-24:33, Judges 1:1-2:23, 1 Samuel, 2 Samuel, 1 Kings, 2 Kings, 1 Chronicles 1:1-34, 2:1-17, 3:1-24, 6:1-81, 7:20-29, 10:1-29:30, 2 Chronicles, Psalm 106, Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, Acts 1:1-26, 6:1-8:4, 9:1-31, 11:19-28:31, Romans, 1 Corinthians, 2 Corinthians, Galatians, Ephesians, Philippians, Colossians, 1 Thessalonians, 2 Thessalonians, 1 Timothy, 2 Timothy, Titus, Philemon
