...................................................................LET US LEARN TOGETHER WHAT IS GOOD. Job 34:4b(NIV)................................................................Some people see the Bible as a long and boring book filled with incidents and events from the lives of ancient people who probably never existed. The biblical stories are seen as fables. Notably, Romans 15:4 reveals: For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope.(KJV) In this blog, many of the situations and conversations found in the divinely inspired Scriptures of the Holy Bible have been placed in categories that correspond to expressive sayings and phrases. Reference information, background information and links connecting the people and places are given to help you find a place to begin reading the Bible for yourself.

Otherwise, They'll Say "Here's Why"

And the LORD said unto Moses, How long will this people provoke me? and how long will it be ere they believe me, for all the signs which I have shewed among them? I will smite them with the pestilence, and disinherit them, and will make of thee a greater nation and mightier than they. And Moses said unto the LORD, Then the Egyptians shall hear it, (for thou broughtest up this people in thy might from among them;) And they will tell it to the inhabitants of this land: for they have heard that thou LORD art among this people, that thou LORD art seen face to face, and that thy cloud standeth over them, and that thou goest before them, by day time in a pillar of a cloud, and in a pillar of fire by night. Now if thou shalt kill all this people as as one man, then the nations which have heard the fame of thee will speak, saying, Because the LORD was not able to bring this people into the land which he sware unto them, therefore he hath slain them in the wilderness.-Numbers 14:11-16***The Israelites knew that the Lord God spoke to their ancestor Abraham (Abram the Hebrew) and told Abraham to depart from his country and kin in Ur, in southern Mesopotamia, and come into the land he would be shown. The Israelites knew that the Lord God promised to give Canaan, a land inhabited by idolaters, to Abraham's descendants and Abraham. The Israelites knew that the Lord God told Abraham that a son would be born to Abraham and his wife Sarah (Sarai). The Israelites knew that Isaac was born to 100-year-old Abraham and 90-year-old Sarah. The Israelites knew that Isaac was married to Rebekah, Abraham and Sarah's grandniece. The Israelites knew that fraternal twin sons Esau (Edom) and Jacob (Israel) were born to 60-year-old Isaac and Rebekah. The Israelites knew that Jacob was married to Leah and Rachel, the daughters of Rebekah's brother Laban the Syrian (Aramean). Moreover, the Israelites knew that Reuben, Simeon, Levi, Judah, Issachar, Zebulun, and daughter Dinah were born to Jacob and Leah, and Dan and Naphtali were born to Jacob and maidservant  Bilhah, and Gad and Asher were born to Jacob and maidservant  Zilpah, and Joseph and Benjamin were born to Jacob and Rachel. The Israelites knew that when Joseph was at least 17 years old, his brothers sold him to merchants traveling to Egypt, and the merchants sold Joseph to Potiphar, an Egyptian official. The Israelites knew that after Potiphar's wife made a false accusation, Potiphar put Joseph in prison. The Israelites knew that over 2 years after Joseph explained the meaning of a dream to the imprisoned cupbearer who served Pharaoh, the king of Egypt, and explained the meaning of a dream to Pharaoh's imprisoned baker, Joseph explained the meaning of a dream to Pharaoh, and Pharaoh proclaimed Joseph second-in-command. The Israelites knew that after the 2nd time Joseph's brothers were in Egypt to buy corn (grain) during a famine, Joseph identified himself to his brothers and told them to move with their families, including Jacob, to Egypt. The Israelites knew that sometime after 147-year-old Jacob died in Egypt and Jacob's family buried his body in Canaan, and 110-year-old Joseph and his siblings were dead, the Israelites were enslaved in Egypt. The Israelites believed Moses  when he said that the Lord God told him to lead them away from Egypt, and the Israelites watched as the Lord God sent 10 plagues throughout Egypt. The Israelites saw that they were guided by a pillar of cloud by day and a pillar of fire by night, and the Israelites watched as the Lord God parted the Red Sea so that they could walk across on dry land. The Israelites heard themselves crave food and water in the desert wilderness, and taste sweet water that was previously bitter, and watched the Lord God send quail and manna for them to eat, and provide water from a rock for them to drink. The Israelites experienced victory in battle, and saw the glory of the Lord God. The Israelites heard the voice of the Lord God when the Lord God spoke to Moses and when the Lord God proclaimed the Ten Commandments to them. The Israelites saw the Lord God continue to lead them even after they worshiped a golden calf, and the Israelites watched themselves make a tabernacle and sacred items using the gold, silver, gems, and fabrics that they asked for and received from the Egyptians. Each time the Israelites saw Moses go to the tent of meeting wherein the Lord God spoke to Moses face to face, the Israelites stood and worshiped. Yet, despite all the Israelites knew, saw and heard, and although the Israelites witnessed the consequence of previous complainers, the Israelites complained again, and even wanted to cause a deadly pelting with stones. During the 40th year of their journey to Canaan, the Promised Land, Moses went upon Mount Nebo, and the Lord God showed Moses the Promised Land, and 120-year-old Moses the prophet died and was divinely buried. Joshua, Moses' aide and successor from the tribe of Ephraim, led the Israelites across the divinely parted Jordan River and onto the land that the Lord God promised to give to Abraham, and Isaac, and to Jacob, and their descendants. Over 1,300 years after 110-year-old Joshua died and was buried in his tribe's portion of the Promised Land, John the Baptist and Jesus the Christ, the Son of God, were born. John the Baptist was born into the tribe of Levi, the birth tribe of Moses, to Zechariah (Zacharias) the priest and his wife Elizabeth (Elisabeth). Jesus the Christ was conceived of the Holy Spirit in the womb of Elizabeth's relative Mary, a virgin, and Jesus was born into the tribe of Judah to Mary and her husband Joseph when Mary was a virgin. Approximately 30 years after Jesus was born to Joseph and Mary, Jesus was baptized in the Jordan River by John the Baptist. Jesus having prayed, the heavens tearing open, the Holy Spirit descended as a dove and lit upon Jesus. The Lord God in heaven audibly acknowledged his Son Jesus, and the Holy Spirit led Jesus into the desert wilderness. Jesus fasted 40 days and nights and was tempted. Afterwards, Jesus was tended to by angels, and Jesus went to the area near John the Baptist, and John the Baptist proclaimed Jesus to be the Lamb of God taking away the sin of the world, and testified that Jesus is the Son of God. In Galilee, Jesus told specific Israelite men to follow him, and Jesus began to preach, teach and perform miracles among the Israelites, the treasured and chosen people of the Lord God.  Moreover, in Galilee, Jesus spoke to a multitude about belief, and the multitude spoke to Jesus about showing a sign and believing. Less than 3 1/2 years after Jesus was baptized, Jesus was betrayed by Judas Iscariot the disciple and apostle, and Jesus was arrested, crucified, buried in a tomb, and resurrected. Jesus appeared to over 500 people, and when the disciples and apostles were together, Jesus appeared and told them about the signs that would follow believers. On the 40th day after Jesus was resurrected, Jesus was returned to heaven.-Genesis 11:26-50:26, Exodus, Numbers 9:1-14:45, 20:1-29, 27:12-23, Deuteronomy 1:1-10:22, 31:1-30, 32:44-52, 34:1-12, Joshua 1:1-4:24, 23:1-24:33, Judges 1:1-2:23, 1 Chronicles 1:1-34, 2:1-17, 3:1-24, 6:1-81, 7:20-29, Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, Acts 1:1-26, 6:1-8:4
