And they asked him, saying, Is it lawful to heal on the sabbath days? that they might accuse him. And he said unto them, What man shall there be among you, that shall have one sheep, and if it fall into a pit on the sabbath day, will he not lay hold on it, and lift it out? How much then is a man better than a sheep? Wherefore it is lawful to do well on the sabbath days. Then saith he to the man, Stretch forth thine hand. And he stretched it forth; and it was restored whole, like as the other. Then the Pharisees went out, and held a council against him, how they might destroy him. But when Jesus knew it, he withdrew himself from thence: and great multitudes followed him, and he healed them all; And charged them that they should not make him known: That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Esaias the prophet, saying, Behold my servant, whom I have chosen; my beloved, in whom my soul is well pleased: I will put my spirit upon him, and he shall shew judgment to the Gentiles. He shall not strive, nor cry; neither shall any man hear his voice in the streets. A bruised reed shall he not break, and smoking flax shall he not quench, till he send forth judgment unto victory. And in his name shall the Gentiles trust.-Matthew 12:9-21***Over 1,500 years before Jesus the Christ, the Son of God, was conceived of the Holy Spirit in the womb of Mary, a virgin, and born into the tribe of Judah to Mary and her husband Joseph when Mary was a virgin, Aaron and his brother Moses were born into the tribe of Levi. When Moses was 80 years old, the Lord God sent Moses and 83-year-old Aaron to speak to the Israelite elders and Pharaoh, the king of Egypt. After the Lord God brought the 10th and final plague upon Pharaoh and Egypt, Moses and Aaron led the Israelites, and those with them, away from Egyptian slavery, across the divinely parted Red Sea, and into the desert wilderness of Shur. In the desert wilderness of Sinai, in the region of Mount Sinai, the Israelites heard the voice of the Lord God proclaim the Ten Commandments to them, and the Lord God began giving Moses  judgments, statutes, and laws for the Israelites. The commandment to remember the Sabbath day was the 4th of the Ten Commandments. Before the Israelites were enslaved in Egypt, and throughout their 40-year journey to Canaan, the Promised Land, and before both of their kingdoms in the Promised Land were invaded and conquered, the sect of Pharisees did not exist among the Israelites. Over 500 years after Israelites began returning to Jerusalem and Judah, the southern nation in the Promised Land, Jesus the Christ was born. Meanwhile, the Pharisees were a visibly recognizable group known for observing the laws that the Lord God gave to Moses, and for following the traditions that were passed down by the Israelite elders. Approximately 30 years after Jesus was born to Joseph and Mary, Jesus was baptized in the Jordan River by Mary's relative John the Baptist, from the tribe of Levi. Jesus having prayed, the heavens tearing open, the Holy Spirit descended as a dove and lit upon Jesus. The Lord God in heaven audibly acknowledged his Son Jesus, and the Holy Spirit led Jesus into the desert wilderness. Jesus fasted for 40 days and nights and was tempted. Afterwards, Jesus was tended to by angels, and Jesus went to the area near John the Baptist, and John the Baptist proclaimed Jesus to be the Lamb of God taking away the sin of the world. In Galilee, Jesus told specific Israelite men to follow him, and Jesus began to preach, teach and perform miracles among the Israelites. The Pharisees questioned Jesus when Jesus performed a healing miracle on the Sabbath day and when Jesus' disciples plucked and handled some corn on the Sabbath day.
