The Bottom Line

And it came to pass, that he went through the corn fields on the sabbath day; and his disciples began, as they went, to pluck the ears of corn. And the Pharisees said unto him, Behold, why do they on the sabbath day that which is not lawful? And he said unto them, Have ye never read what David did, when he had need, and was an hungred, he, and they that were with him? How he went into the house of God in the days of Abiathar the high priest, and did eat the shewbread, which is not lawful to eat but for the priests, and gave also to them which were with him? And he said unto them, The sabbath was made for man, and not man for the sabbath: Therefore the Son of man is Lord also of the sabbath.-Mark 2:23-28***David was a youngster working as a shepherd for his father Jesse when he was fetched home and anointed by Samuel, the priest, prophet and judge to reign as king, according to the command of the Lord God. Sometime thereafter, David began serving as a musician and an armor-bearer for King Saul, the reigning ruler. Saul was the 1st king to reign over the Israelites in the Promised Land, the land that the Lord God promised to give to Abraham (Abram the Hebrew), and to Abraham's son Isaac, and to Isaac's youngest fraternal twin son Jacob (Israel), and to their descendants. Sometime after David was anointed, David began serving as a musician and an armor-bearer for Saul, and killed and beheaded Goliath the gigantic Philistine, and made a covenant with Jonathan, Saul's son, and married Michal, Saul's daughter. Saul tried to kill David, and David escaped from home to avoid being killed by Saul. After David met with Samuel, and Jonathan, David went to see Ahimelech the priest. Ahimelech was the father of Abiathar. David told Ahimelech that he was on secret business for Saul. When David asked Ahimelech for bread and a weapon, Ahimelech gave David the sacred showbread, the 12 flat cakes of bread baked every Sabbath day and placed for an entire week on a specially built wooden table covered with pure gold. Moreover, Ahimelech gave David the sword that had belonged to Goliath. After Saul's self-inflicted death on the battlefield, men from the tribe anointed David, and David began to reign only over the tribe of Judah. Saul's son Ishbosheth reigned over the other Israelite tribes. After Ishbosheth was murdered, the Israelite elders went to David and David made a covenant with them. The elders anointed David, and David became the 2nd king to reign over all of the Israelites. Over 900 years after Solomon, the 2nd son born to David and Bathsheba, became the 3rd king to reign over all of the Israelites, Jesus the Christ, the Son of God, was born. Jesus was conceived of the Holy Spirit in the womb of Mary, a virgin, and Jesus was born into the tribe of Jacob's 4th born son Judah, the birth tribe of Jesse and his descendants, to Mary and her husband Joseph when Mary was a virgin. Approximately 30 years after Jesus was born to Joseph and Mary, Jesus was baptized in the Jordan River by Mary's relative John the Baptist. Jesus having prayed, the heavens tearing open, the Holy Spirit descended as a dove and lit upon Jesus. The Lord God in heaven audibly acknowledged his Son Jesus, and the Holy Spirit led Jesus into the desert wilderness. Jesus fasted for 40 days and nights and was tempted. Afterwards, Jesus was tended to by angels, and Jesus went to the area near John the Baptist, and John the Baptist proclaimed Jesus to be the Lamb of God taking away the sin of the world. In Galilee, Jesus told specific Israelite men to follow him, and Jesus began to preach, teach and perform miracles among the Israelites. The Pharisees were an educated sect of Israelites who strictly adhered to the commandments, judgments, statutes, and laws that the Lord God gave to Moses for the Israelites, and the Pharisees obeyed the traditions of the Israelite elders. In Galilee, the Pharisees questioned Jesus regarding the unlawful behavior of his disciples.-Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus 24:1-23, Numbers 20:1-29, 27:12-23, Deuteronomy 31:1-30, 32:44-52, 34:1-12, Joshua 1:1-4:24, 23:1-24:33, Judges 1:1-2:23, Ruth, 1 Samuel 1:1-3:21, 8:1-31:13, 2 Samuel, 1 Kings 1:1-11:43, 1 Chronicles 1:1-34, 2:1-17, 3:1-24, 6:1-81, 8:1-40, 9:35-29:30, Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, Acts 1:1-26
