Love and Marriage

From a letter written by the apostle Paul,

with Sosthenes,

to believers in Corinth and everywhere:

Now concerning the things whereof ye wrote unto me: It is good for a man not to touch a woman. Nevertheless, to avoid fornication, let every man have his own wife, and let every woman have her own husband. Let the husband render unto the wife due benevolence: and likewise also the wife unto the husband. The wife hath not power of her own body, but the husband: and likewise also the husband hath not power of his own body, but the wife. Defraud ye not one the other, except it be with consent for a time, that ye may give yourselves to fasting and prayer; and come together again, that Satan tempt you not for your incontinency. But I speak this by permission, and not of commandment. For I would that all men were even as I myself. But every man hath his proper gift of God, one after this manner, and another after that. I say therefore to the unmarried and widows, It is good for them if they abide even as I. But if they cannot contain, let them marry: for it is better to marry than to burn.-1 Corinthians 7:1-9***Abraham (Abram the Hebrew) and Sarah (Sarai) were born to Terah. Canaan was the land inhabited by idol worshipers that the Lord God promised to give to Abraham's descendants and Abraham. Isaac was born to 100-year-old Abraham and 90-year-old Sarah. The Lord God promised to give Canaan to Isaac and Isaac's descendants. When Isaac was 40 years old, he was married to Rebekah, Abraham and Sarah's grandniece. Fraternal twin sons Esau (Edom) and Jacob (Israel) were born to 60-year-old Isaac and Rebekah. The Lord God promised to give Canaan to Jacob and Jacob's descendants. In Padan Aram, Haran, Jacob was married to Leah and Rachel, the daughters of Rebekah's brother Laban the Syrian (Aramean). Levi was the 3rd son born to Jacob and Leah. Joseph was Jacob and Rachel's firstborn son. During Jacob's 20th year in Haran, he began journeying from Haran to Canaan with his family, servants, animals, and possessions. When Joseph was 30 years old, Pharaoh, the king of Egypt, proclaimed him second-in-command. Jacob was 130 years old when he moved with his family from Canaan to Egypt. In Egypt, Jacob proclaimed Manasseh and Ephraim, the son born to Joseph and his wife Asenath, the daughter of an Egyptian priest, to be his own sons. Sometime after 147-year-old Jacob died in Egypt and Jacob's family buried his body in Canaan, and 110-year-old Joseph and his siblings were dead, their descendants the Israelites were enslaved in Egypt. Amram and Jochebed, his aunt, were born into the tribe of Levi. After they were married, Miriam, Aaron and Moses were born to Amram and Jochebed. Miriam and Aaron lived with Amram and Jochebed, and Moses lived as the son of Pharaoh's daughter. When Moses was 40 years old, he murdered an Egyptian and hid the body. After the murder was mentioned to Moses, and Pharaoh wanted to kill Moses, Moses left Egypt and began living in Midian, and was married to Zipporah, the daughter of Jethro (Reuel), a priest in Midian. The Midianites descended from Abraham and his 2nd wife Keturah, and Abraham and Keturah's son Midian. Meanwhile, Aaron was married to Elisheba, from the tribe of Jacob and Leah's 4th born son Judah.  When Moses was 80 years old and Aaron was 83, the Lord God sent them to speak to the Israelite elders and Pharaoh. After the Lord God brought the 10th and final plague upon Pharaoh and Egypt, Moses and Aaron led the Israelites, and those with them, away from Egypt, across the divinely parted Red Sea, and into the desert wilderness of Shur. In the desert wilderness of Sinai, near the region of Mount Sinai, the Israelites heard the voice of the Lord God proclaim the Ten Commandments to them, and the Lord God began giving Moses judgments, statutes and laws for the Israelites. During the 40-year journey through the wilderness, the Lord God gave Moses laws regarding maidens, wives, husbands, potential brides, divorce, and widows. Miriam the prophetess died and was buried in Kadesh, in the desert wilderness of Zin. Upon Mount Hor, 123-year-old Aaron the high priest died. When Moses went upon Mount Nebo, the Lord God showed Moses the Promised Land, and 120-year-old Moses the prophet died and was divinely buried. Joshua, Moses' aide and successor from the tribe of Ephraim, led the Israelites across the divinely parted Jordan River and onto the land that the Lord God promised to give to Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, and their descendants. Over 300 years after 110-year-old Joshua died and was buried in his tribe's portion of the Promised Land, David, from the tribe of Judah, became the 2nd king to rule over all of the Israelites. The divinely inspired Scriptures of the Holy Bible reveal that David was a man after God's own heart, Abraham was a friend of God, and Moses was known as the prophet whom the Lord God knew face to face. David was the husband of many women, and many children were born to David, his wives and concubines. Solomon, the 2nd child born to David and Bathsheba, was the 3rd king to rule over all of the Israelites. Solomon's great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-grandson Hezekiah was the 12th king to rule Judah, the southern nation in the Promised Land. Among Judah's kings, Hezekiah's trust in the Lord God was unparalleled. Hezekiah's great-grandson Josiah was the 15th king to rule Judah. Josiah reigned 31 years and was the king who turned to the Lord God with all of his heart, soul and might. Over 600 years after 39-year-old Josiah died from wounds in a battle against Pharaoh Necho (Neco/Nechoh), ruler of Egypt, John the Baptist and Jesus the Christ, the Son of God, were born. John the Baptist was born into the tribe of Levi to Zechariah (Zacharias) the priest and his wife Elizabeth (Elisabeth). Jesus the Christ was conceived of the Holy Spirit in the womb of Elizabeth's relative  Mary, a virgin, and Jesus was born into the tribe of Judah, the tribe of Judah's kings, to Mary and her husband Joseph when Mary was a virgin. Approximately 30 years after John the Baptist and Jesus the Christ were born, Jesus was baptized in the Jordan River by John the Baptist. Jesus having prayed, the heavens tearing open, the Holy Spirit descended as a dove and lit upon Jesus. The Lord God in heaven audibly acknowledged his Son Jesus, and the Holy Spirit led Jesus into the desert wilderness. Jesus fasted 40 days and nights and was tempted. Afterwards, Jesus was tended to by angels, and Jesus went to the area near John the Baptist, and John the Baptist proclaimed Jesus to be the Lamb of God taking away the sin of the world, and testified that Jesus is the Son of God. In Galilee, Jesus told specific Israelite men to follow him, and Jesus began to preach, teach and perform miracles among the Israelites. Before Jesus was  betrayed, arrested, crucified, buried in a tomb, resurrected, and returned to heaven less than 3 1/2 years after he was baptized, Jesus spoke about marriage, divorce and widows. Paul (Saul) was an Israelite from the tribe of Jacob and Rachel's 2nd and last son Benjamin. Paul did not believe Jesus to be the Christ.  Throughout Jerusalem, Paul persecuted and imprisoned Israelites who believed Jesus to be the Christ of God. When Paul was journeying to the synagogues in Damascus, Syria, to find, bind and take to Jerusalem any Israelite believers he found, Paul and those with him saw a light from heaven flash around them. Paul heard the voice of Jesus speaking to him, and Paul spoke to Jesus and obeyed Jesus. In Damascus, Paul was baptized.
