...................................................................LET US LEARN TOGETHER WHAT IS GOOD. Job 34:4b(NIV)................................................................Some people see the Bible as a long and boring book filled with incidents and events from the lives of ancient people who probably never existed. The biblical stories are seen as fables. Notably, Romans 15:4 reveals: For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope.(KJV) In this blog, many of the situations and conversations found in the divinely inspired Scriptures of the Holy Bible have been placed in categories that correspond to expressive sayings and phrases. Reference information, background information and links connecting the people and places are given to help you find a place to begin reading the Bible for yourself.

Water, Water, Right Over Here

And the angel of the Lord spake unto Philip, saying, Arise, and go toward the south unto the way that goeth down from Jerusalem unto Gaza, which is desert. And he arose and went: and, behold, a man of Ethiopia, an eunuch of great authority under Candace queen of the Ethiopians, who had the charge of all her treasure, and had come to Jerusalem for to worship, Was returning, and sitting in his chariot read Esaias the prophet. Then the Spirit said unto Philip, Go near, and join thyself to this chariot. And Philip ran thither to him, and heard him read the prophet Esaias, and said, Understandest thou what thou readest? And he said, How can I, except some man should guide me? And he desired Philip that he would come up and sit with him. The place of the scripture which he read was this, He was led as a sheep to the slaughter; and like a lamb dumb before his shearer, so opened he not his mouth: In his humiliation his judgment was taken away: and who shall declare his generation? for his life is taken from the earth. And the eunuch answered Philip, and said, I pray thee, of whom speaketh the prophet this? of himself, or of some other man? Then Philip opened his mouth, and began at the same scripture, and preached unto him Jesus. And as they went on their way, they came unto a certain water: and the eunuch said, See, here is water; what doth hinder me to be baptized? And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. And he commanded the chariot to stand still: and they went down both into the water, both Philip and the eunuch: and he baptized him. And when they were come up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord caught away Philip, that the eunuch saw him no more: and he went on his way rejoicing. But Philip was found at Azotus: and passing through he preached in all the cities, till he came to Caesarea.-Acts 8:26-40***Hagar the Egyptian maidservant was intimate with Abraham (Abram the Hebrew) due to the suggestion and consent of Abraham's wife  Sarah (Sarai). When Hagar was pregnant, the interaction between Hagar and Sarah was horrible, and Hagar ran away. The angel of the Lord questioned Hagar and told Hagar to return to Sarah. Over 600 years after Ishmael was born to 86-year old Abraham and Hagar, and Isaac was born to 100-year-old Abraham and 90-year-old Sarah,  Balaam was on his donkey traveling to see King Balak, ruler of the Moabites. The Moabites were descendants of Abraham and Sarah's nephew Lot and Lot's oldest daughter, and the son, Moab, born to Lot and his daughter. The angel of the Lord interrupted Balaam's journey, questioned Balaam, told Balaam to continue with the journey, and gave Balaam specific speaking instructions. Abraham and Sarah's descendant King Ahaziah was the 8th king to reign over all of the Israelites in the northern nation of Israel in the Promised Land. During Ahaziah's 2-year reign, Ahaziah sent an envoy to seek an answer from a Philistine idol. Meanwhile, the angel of the Lord sent Elijah the prophet to meet Ahaziah's envoy and speak specific words. The envoy returned to Ahaziah and relayed the message. Ahaziah sent another group, and Elijah caused their fiery deaths, and Ahaziah sent another group, and Elijah caused their fiery deaths. The captain of the 3rd group spoke entreatingly to Elijah, and the angel of the Lord told Elijah to go with the captain. Over 800 years after Ahaziah's brother Jehoram (Joram) became the 9th king to rule over all of the Israelites in the northern nation of Israel, Jesus the Christ, the Son of God, was born. Before Jesus was conceived of the Holy Spirit in the womb of Mary, a virgin, and born into the tribe of Abraham and Sarah's great-grandson Judah to Mary and her husband Joseph when Mary was a virgin, the angel Gabriel spoke to Mary. Shortly thereafter, an angel of the Lord told Joseph to continue with the plans to receive Mary as his wife, and the angel explained the divine conception to Joseph. After Jesus was born and King Herod the Great, ruler of Judea for the Roman Empire, wanted to kill Jesus, an angel of the Lord told Joseph to take Jesus and Mary to Egypt. After Herod's death, an angel of the Lord told Joseph to take Jesus and Mary and return, and Joseph, Mary and Jesus lived in Nazareth, Galilee. Approximately 30 years after Jesus was born to Joseph and Mary, Jesus was baptized in the Jordan River by Mary's relative John the Baptist, from the tribe of Abraham and Sarah's great-grandson Levi. Jesus having prayed, the heavens tearing open, the Holy Spirit descended as a dove and lit upon Jesus. The Lord God in heaven audibly acknowledged his Son Jesus, and the Holy Spirit led Jesus into the desert wilderness. Jesus fasted for 40 days and nights and was tempted. Afterwards, Jesus was tended to by angels, and Jesus went to the area near John the Baptist, and John the Baptist proclaimed Jesus to be the Lamb of God taking away the sin of the world. In Galilee, Jesus told specific Israelite men to follow him, and Jesus began to preach, teach and perform miracles among the Israelites, the treasured and chosen people of the Lord God. Less than 3 1/2 years after Jesus was baptized, Jesus was betrayed by Judas Iscariot the disciple and apostle, and Jesus was arrested, crucified, buried in a tomb, resurrected, seen by over 500 people, and returned to heaven. Sometime thereafter, the apostles of the Lord Jesus were imprisoned by the high priest, with the Sadducees in agreement with the high priest. An angel of the Lord led the apostles out of the prison and told the apostles to go to the temple and speak. During the same era, an angel of the Lord spoke to Philip, an Israelite and evangelist descended from Abraham and Sarah.-Genesis 11:26-50:26, Exodus, Numbers 20:1-25:18, 27:12-23, 31:1-54, Deuteronomy 31:1-30, 32:44-52, 34:1-12, Joshua 1:1-4:24, 23:1-24:33, Judges 1:1-2:23, 1 Samuel 1:1-3:21, 8:1-31:13, 2 Samuel, 1 Kings, 2 Kings, Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, Acts 1:1-8:40, 21:1-40
