...................................................................LET US LEARN TOGETHER WHAT IS GOOD. Job 34:4b(NIV)................................................................Some people see the Bible as a long and boring book filled with incidents and events from the lives of ancient people who probably never existed. The biblical stories are seen as fables. Notably, Romans 15:4 reveals: For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope.(KJV) In this blog, many of the situations and conversations found in the divinely inspired Scriptures of the Holy Bible have been placed in categories that correspond to expressive sayings and phrases. Reference information, background information and links connecting the people and places are given to help you find a place to begin reading the Bible for yourself.

Drinking, Drank and Drunk

And the Lord said, Who then is that faithful and wise steward, whom his lord shall make ruler over his household, to give them their portion of meat in due season? Blessed is that servant, whom his lord when he cometh shall find so doing. Of a truth I say unto you, that he will make him ruler over all that he hath. But and if that servant say in his heart, My lord delayeth his coming; and shall begin to beat the menservants and maidens, and to eat and drink and to be drunken; The lord of that servant will come in a day when he looketh not for him, and at at an hour when he is not aware, and will cut him in sunder, and will appoint him his portion with the unbelievers. And that servant, which knew his lords's will, and prepared not himself, neither did according to his will, shall be beaten with many stripes. But he that knew not, and did commit things worthy of stripes, shall be beaten with few stripes. For unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required; and to whom men have committed much, of him they will ask the more.-Luke 12:42-48***The faithful servant sent from Canaan to northern Mesopotamia by Abraham (Abram the Hebrew) to find a wife for Isaac, the only child born to Abraham and his wife Sarah (Sarai), was in charge of everything Abraham owned. The servant returned with Rebekah, the grandniece of Abraham and Sarah, and Rebekah became Isaac's wife.  Fraternal twin sons Esau (Edom) and Jacob (Israel) were born to Isaac and Rebekah. In Padan Aram, Haran, in northern Mesopotamia, Jacob was married to Leah and Rachel, the daughters of Rebekah's brother Laban the Syrian (Aramean). Joseph was the 1st son born to Jacob and Rachel. When Joseph was at least 17 years old, his brothers sold him to merchants traveling to Egypt and led Jacob to believe that Joseph was killed by a wild animal. The merchants sold Joseph to Potiphar, an Egyptian official. The divinely inspired Scriptures of the Holy Bible reveal that Joseph was in charge of everything in Potiphar's house. Sometime after Potiphar's wife made a false accusation and Potiphar put Joseph in prison, Joseph became in charge of the other prisoners. When Joseph was 30 years old, he became second-in-command in Egypt. When Jacob was 130 years old, he moved with his family from Canaan to Egypt, and the Lord God spoke to Jacob during the journey. In Egypt, Jacob proclaimed Manasseh and Ephraim, the sons born to Joseph and his wife Asenath, to be his own sons. Sometime after 147-year old Jacob died in Egypt and Jacob's family buried his body body in Canaan, and 110-year-old Joseph and his siblings were dead, their descendants the Israelites were enslaved in Egypt. Miriam and her younger brothers Aaron and Moses were from the tribe of Jacob and Leah's 3rd born son Levi. When Moses was 80 years old and Aaron was 83, they led the Israelites away from Egypt, across the divinely parted Red Sea, and into the desert wilderness of Shur, according to the commands of the Lord God. During the 40-year journey to Canaan, the Promised Land, Miriam the prophetess died and was buried in Kadesh, in the desert wilderness of Zin. Upon Mount Hor, 123-year-old Aaron the high priest died. When Moses went upon Mount Nebo, the Lord God showed Moses the Promised Land, and 120-year-old Moses the prophet died and was divinely buried. Joshua, Moses' assistant and successor from the tribe of Ephraim, led the Israelites across the divinely parted Jordan River and onto the land that the Lord God promised to give to Abraham, and Isaac, and to Jacob, and their descendants. In the Promised Land, Elisha the prophet served and stayed by the side of Elijah the prophet, and became a leader among the prophets after Elijah was taken up into heaven by a whirlwind. Baruch was an assistant to Jeremiah the prophet. Baruch read the words that Jeremiah received from the Lord God to the Israelites in Jerusalem and Judah, the southern nation in the Promised Land. After being taken captive from Jerusalem to Babylon, Daniel served throughout the reigns of 4 Babylonian kings. Over 500 years after Daniel began receiving revelations from the Lord God, John the Baptist and Jesus the Christ, the Son of God, were born. John the Baptist was born into the tribe of Levi to Zechariah (Zacharias) the priest and his wife Elizabeth (Elisabeth). Jesus the Christ was conceived of the Holy Spirit in the womb of Elizabeth's relative  Mary, a virgin, and Jesus was born into the tribe of Jacob and Leah's 4th born son Judah to Mary and her husband Joseph when Mary was a virgin. Approximately 30 years after John the Baptist and Jesus the Christ were born, Jesus was baptized in the Jordan River by John the Baptist. Jesus having prayed, the heavens tearing open, the Holy Spirit descended as a dove and lit upon Jesus. The Lord God in heaven audibly acknowledged his Son Jesus, and the Holy Spirit led Jesus into the desert wilderness. Jesus fasted 40 days and nights and was tempted. Afterwards, Jesus was tended to by angels, and Jesus went to the area near John the Baptist, and John the Baptist proclaimed Jesus to be the Lamb of God taking away the sin of the world, and testified that Jesus is the Son of God. In Galilee, Jesus told specific Israelite men to follow him, and Jesus began to preach, teach and perform miracles among the Israelites, the treasured and chosen people of the Lord God. Oftentimes, Jesus used parables when he spoke to his disciples and apostles and other listeners.-Genesis 11:27-50:26, Exodus, Numbers 11:1-35, 13:1-14:45, 20:1-29, 27:12:23, Deuteronomy 31:1-30, 32:44-52, 34:1-12, Joshua 1:1-4:24, 23:1-24:33, Judges 1:1-2:23, Ruth, 1 Samuel, 2 Samuel, 1 Kings, 2 Kings, 1 Chronicles 1:1-34, 2:1-17, 3:1-24, 6:1-81, 7:20-29, Jeremiah 1:1-19, 32:1-44, 36:1-32, 39:1-18, 43:1-13, 45:1-5, 52:1-34, Daniel, Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, Acts 1:1-26, 6:1-8:4, 9:1-31, Ephesians 1:1-2, 6:5-9, Colossians 1:1-2, 3:22-25
