...................................................................LET US LEARN TOGETHER WHAT IS GOOD. Job 34:4b(NIV)................................................................Some people see the Bible as a long and boring book filled with incidents and events from the lives of ancient people who probably never existed. The biblical stories are seen as fables. Notably, Romans 15:4 reveals: For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope.(KJV) In this blog, many of the situations and conversations found in the divinely inspired Scriptures of the Holy Bible have been placed in categories that correspond to expressive sayings and phrases. Reference information, background information and links connecting the people and places are given to help you find a place to begin reading the Bible for yourself.

The Second Time Around

And it came to pass, when Solomon had finished the building of the house of the LORD, and the king's house, and all Solomon's desire which he was pleased to do, That the LORD appeared to Solomon the second time, as he had appeared unto him at Gibeon. And the LORD said unto him, I have heard thy prayer and thy supplication, that thou hast made before me: I have hallowed this house, which thou hast built, to put my name there for ever; and mine eyes and mine heart shall be there perpetually. And if thou wilt walk before me, as David thy father walked, in integrity of heart, and in uprightness, to do according to all that I have commanded thee, and wilt keep my statutes and my judgments: Then I will establish the throne of thy kingdom upon Israel for ever, as I promised to David thy father, saying, There shall not fail thee a man upon the throne of Israel. But if ye shall at all turn from following me, ye or your children, and will not keep my commandments, and my statutes which I have set before you, but go and serve other gods, and worship them: Then will I cut off Israel out of the land which I have given them; and this house, which I have hallowed for my name, will I cast out of my sight; and Israel shall be a proverb and a byword among all people: And at this house, which is high, every one that passeth by it shall be astonished, and shall hiss; and they shall say, Why hath the LORD done thus unto this land, and to this house? And they shall answer, Because they forsook the LORD their God, who brought forth their fathers out of the land of Egypt, and have taken hold upon other gods, and have worshipped them, and served them: therefore hath the LORD brought upon them all this evil.-1 Kings 9:1-9***Levi was the 3rd son born to Jacob and his 1st wife Leah, and  Judah was Jacob and Leah's 4th born son. Benjamin was the 2nd and last son born to Jacob (Israel) and his 2nd wife Rachel. David, from the tribe of Judah, was the 2nd king to rule over all of the Israelites. Before 70-year-old David died, he identified Solomon as the next king. Solomon was the 2nd child born to David and Bathsheba. In a dream, the Lord God appeared to Solomon and told Solomon to make a request. Solomon asked the Lord God to give him an understanding heart, wisdom and knowledge. The Lord God was pleased with Solomon's request and also gave Solomon unparalleled riches and honor and the possibility of a long life. In Jerusalem, after the temple of the Lord and the royal palace were built, and the ark of the covenant of the Lord was placed in the Most Holy Place within the temple, Solomon gathered the Israelites. Solomon and the Israelites sacrificed a multitude of offerings to the Lord God, and Solomon publicly prayed to the Lord God. Shortly thereafter, the Lord God appeared to Solomon again. Over 900 years after Rehoboam, the son born to Solomon and Naamah, became the 4th king to rule over all of the Israelites, Jesus the Christ, the Son of God, was born.
