Sounds Like a Plan

Then all the men of Judah and Benjamin gathered themselves together unto Jerusalem within three days. It was the ninth month, on the twentieth day of the month; and all the people sat in the street of the house of God, trembling because of this matter, and for the great rain. And Ezra the priest stood up, and said unto them, Ye have transgressed, and have taken strange wives, to increase the trespass of Israel. Now therefore make confession unto the LORD God of your fathers, and do his pleasure: and separate yourselves from the people of the land, and from the strange wives. Then all the congregation answered and said with a loud voice, As thou hast said, so must we do. But the people are many, and it is a time of much rain, and we are not able to stand without, neither is this a work of one day or two: for we are many that have transgressed in this thing. Let now our rulers of all the congregation stand, and let all them which have taken strange wives in our cities come at appointed times, and with them the elders of every city, and the judges thereof, until the fierce wrath of our God for this matter be turned from us.-Ezra 10:9-14***King Jehoiakim (Eliakim) was the 17th king to rule Judah, the southern nation in the Promised Land. During Jehoiakim's 11-year reign, the Babylonians (Chaldeans) invaded Judah and Jerusalem, the royal city, and King Nebuchadnezzar, ruler of Babylon, began looting the temple of the Lord. Jehoiachin (Jeconiah/Coniah), the son born to Jehoiakim and Nehushta, was the 18th king to rule Judah. During Jehoiachin's 3-month reign, the Babylonians took more prominent Israelites, including Jehoiachin, his wives and mother, to Babylon. During the 11th year of the reign of Jehoiakim's brother King Zedekiah (Mattaniah), the 19th king to rule Judah, the Babylonians conquered Jerusalem, according to the will of the Lord God, due to the idolatry and other wickedness of the Israelites. Amid the destruction, the Babylonians looted and burned the temple of the Lord. Less than 70 years after Jerusalem was conquered, Israelites began returning to Judah and Jerusalem. Over 20 years thereafter, the Israelites finished building the new temple. A dedication and the Passover were observed, and the matter of Israelite men married to idol worshiping women was brought to the attention of Ezra, the priest and scribe. Ezra had recently arrived in Jerusalem after years of living in Babylon and was unaware that such marriages had occurred. Over 800 years earlier, the Lord God revealed to Moses the prophet that the Israelites, the treasured and chosen people of the Lord God, were not to marry the idolatrous inhabitants living throughout Canaan, the Promised Land. During the 40th year after Moses and his older brother Aaron led the Israelites away from Egyptian slavery, across the divinely parted Red Sea, and into the desert wilderness of Shur, and the Lord God gave Moses the martial commands, 123-year-old Aaron died and was buried upon Mount Hor. When Moses went upon Mount Nebo, the Lord God showed Moses the Promised Land, and 120-year-old Moses died and was divinely buried.  Joshua, Moses' successor, led the Israelites across the divinely parted Jordan River and onto the land that the Lord God promised to give to Abraham (Abram the Hebrew), and to Abraham's son Isaac, and to Isaac's youngest fraternal twin son Jacob (Israel), and to their descendants. The divinely inspired Scriptures of the Holy Bible reveal that the Israelites began marrying the idolatrous inhabitants. Over 400 years after Ezra prayed and cried to the Lord God, and fasted, mourned, and threw himself to the ground, Jesus the Christ, the Son of God, was born.
