...................................................................LET US LEARN TOGETHER WHAT IS GOOD. Job 34:4b(NIV)................................................................Some people see the Bible as a long and boring book filled with incidents and events from the lives of ancient people who probably never existed. The biblical stories are seen as fables. Notably, Romans 15:4 reveals: For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope.(KJV) In this blog, many of the situations and conversations found in the divinely inspired Scriptures of the Holy Bible have been placed in categories that correspond to expressive sayings and phrases. Reference information, background information and links connecting the people and places are given to help you find a place to begin reading the Bible for yourself.

HELP

Now when Jesus saw great multitudes about him, he gave commandment to depart unto the other side. And a certain scribe came, and said unto him, Master, I will follow thee whithersoever thou goest. And Jesus saith unto him, The foxes have holes, and the birds of the air have nests; but the Son of man hath not where to lay his head. And another of his disciples said unto him, Lord, suffer me first to go and bury my father. But Jesus said unto him, Follow me; and let the dead bury their dead. And when he was entered into a ship, his disciples followed him. And, behold, there arose a great tempest in the sea, insomuch that the ship was covered with the waves: but he was asleep. And his disciples came to him, and awoke him, saying, Lord, save us: we perish. And he saith unto them, Why are ye fearful, O ye of little faith? Then he arose, and rebuked the winds and the sea; and there was a great calm. But the men marvelled, saying, What manner of man is this, that even the winds and the sea obey him!-Matthew 8:18-27***Jericho was a walled city in Canaan, the Promised LandJoshua was an Israelite from the tribe of Ephraim, descended from Abraham (Abram the Hebrew) and Sarah (Sarai), Isaac and Rebekah, Jacob (Israel) and his 2nd wife Rachel, their firstborn son Joseph and his wife Asenath, and Joseph and Asenath's 2nd born son Joseph, whom Jacob proclaimed to be his own son. Shortly after Joshua led his fellow Israelites across the divinely parted Jordan River and onto the Promised Land, Joshua and the Israelites destroyed Jericho, its inhabitants and animals, according to the commands of the Lord God. Shortly thereafter, the Israelites battled the inhabitants of Ai. However, due to the disobedience of Achan   (Achar), an Israelite from the tribe of Judah, the Israelites were defeated. Joshua and the Israelite elders humbled themselves before the Lord God, and Joshua questioned and reasoned with the Lord God. The Lord God answered Joshua and gave commands to Joshua and the Israelites. After the commands were obeyed, the Lord God assured Joshua of victory. Other enemy nations heard about the Israelites and their victories. Thus, men from Gibeon tricked Joshua and the Israelites into making a peace treaty with them. However, King Adonizedek of Jerusalem allied himself with King Hoham of Hebron, King Piram of Jarmuth, King Japhia of Lachish, and King Debir of Eglon. Adonizedek and his allies prepared to battle the Gibeonites, and the Gibeonites contacted Joshua for help. The Lord God assured Joshua of victory and smote the armies, and stones that the Lord God cast down from heaven caused deaths among the enemies. Joshua spoke to the Lord God. Moreover, in the presence of the Israelites, Joshua spoke a command that involved the sun and the moon. Approximately 1,400 years after Joshua killed and hanged Adonizedek, Hoham, Piram, Japhia, and Debir, Jesus the Christ, the Son of God, was born. Jesus was conceived of the Holy Spirit in the womb of Mary, a virgin, and Jesus was born into the tribe of Judah to Mary and her husband Joseph when Mary was a virgin. Approximately 30 years after Jesus was born to Joseph and Mary, Jesus was baptized in the Jordan River by Mary's relative John the Baptist, from the tribe of Levi. Jesus having prayed, the heavens tearing open, the Holy Spirit descended as a dove and lit upon Jesus. The Lord God in heaven audibly acknowledged his Son Jesus, and the Holy Spirit led Jesus into the desert wilderness. Jesus fasted for 40 days and nights and was tempted. Afterwards, Jesus was tended to by angels, and Jesus went to the area near John the Baptist, and John the Baptist proclaimed Jesus to be the Lamb of God taking away the sin of the world. In Galilee, Jesus told specific Israelite men to follow him, and Jesus began to preach, teach and perform miracles among the Israelites, the treasured and chosen people of the Lord God. In the presence of his disciples, Jesus spoke a command to the winds and the sea.-Genesis 11:26-50:26, Exodus, Numbers 20:1-29, 27:12-23, Deuteronomy 31:1-30, 32:44-52, 34:1-12, Joshua 1:1-12:24 23:1-24:33, 1 Chronicles 1:1-34, 2:1-17, 3:1-24, 7:20-29, Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, Acts 1:1-26
