The sons of Reuben, and the Gadites, and half the tribe of Manasseh, of valiant men, men able to bear buckler and sword, and to shoot with bow, and skilful in war, were four and forty thousand seven hundred and threescore, that went out to the war. And they made war with the Hagarites, with Jetur, and Nephish, and Nodab. And they were helped against them, and the Hagarites were delivered into their hand, and all that were with them: for they cried to God in the battle, and he was intreated of them; because they put their trust in him. And they took away their cattle; of their camels fifty thousand, and of sheep two hundred and fifty thousand, and of asses two thousand, and of men an hundred thousand. For there fell down many slain, because the war was of God. And they dwelt in their steads until the captivity.-1 Chronicles 5:18-22***Ishmael was the son born to 86-year-old Abraham (Abram the Hebrew) and Hagar, the maidservant of Abraham's wife Sarah (Sarai). Jetur and Naphish descended from Ishmael. The Reubenites, the sons of Reuben, the Israelites in the tribe of Reuben, descended from Abraham and Sarah, their son Isaac and his wife Rebekah, Isaac and Rebekah's youngest fraternal twin son Jacob (Israel) and his 1st wife Leah, and Jacob and Leah's firstborn son Reuben. The Gadites, the Israelites in the tribe of Gad, descended from Jacob and Zilpah, Leah's maidservant, and Jacob and Zilpah's firstborn son Gad. The Manassites, the Israelites in the tribe of Manasseh, descended from Jacob and his 2nd wife Rachel, their firstborn son Joseph and his wife Asenath, and Joseph and Asenath's firstborn son Manasseh. Ephraim was Joseph and Asenath's youngest son. In Egypt, Jacob proclaimed Manasseh and Ephraim to be his own sons, and the tribe of Joseph became the tribe of Manasseh and the tribe of Ephraim. Miriam and her younger brothers Aaron and Moses were from the tribe of Jacob and Leah's 3rd born son Levi. During the 40th year after 80-year-old Moses and 83-year-old led the Israelites away from Egyptian slavery, across the divinely parted Red Sea, and into the desert wilderness of Shur, according to the commands of the Lord God, 123-year-old Aaron the high priest died upon Mount Hor. Before Moses went upon Mount Nebo, and the Lord God showed Moses the Promised Land, the Reubenites and Gadites asked Moses, and Aaron's son and successor Eleazar, and the leaders with them, if they could be given some of the land that the Israelites had already conquered. After Moses spoke to the Gadites and Reubenites, and the Gadites responded, Moses gave the Reubenites, Gadites and 1/2 the tribe of Manasseh the land they requested. When Moses went upon Mount Nebo, the Lord God showed Moses the Promised Land, and 120-year-old Moses the prophet died and was divinely buried. Joshua, Moses' aide and successor from the tribe of Ephraim, led the Israelites across the divinely parted Jordan River and onto the land that the Lord God promised to give to Abraham, and Isaac, and to Jacob, and their descendants. The Reubenites, Gadites and 1/2 the tribe of Manasseh were at the forefront of the tribes, and helped the other Israelites conquer much of the Promised Land, according to the commands of the Lord God that Moses proclaimed to them. Joshua spoke to and blessed the Reubenites, Gadites, and 1/2 the tribe of Manasseh, and they were given vast amounts of the animals and valuable goods taken from defeated enemies, and they returned to the land they had been given. Shortly thereafter, the Reubenites, Gadites, and 1/2 the tribe of Manasseh decided to build an altar, and the other Israelites wanted to attack them. However, the Israelites sent Eleazar's son Phinehas and 10 tribal leaders to question the Reubenites, Gadites and 1/2 the tribe of Manasseh. Phinehas and the tribal leaders were pleased with the answer given by the Reubenites, Gadites and 1/2 the tribe of Manasseh, and returned to the other Israelites, and all of the Israelites were pleased, and blessed the Lord God, and decided not to war against their fellow Israelites. The divinely inspired Scriptures of the Holy Bible reveal that sometime thereafter, the Reubenites, Gadites, and 1/2 the tribe of Manasseh became idolaters. Solomon, the 2nd child born to King David and Bathsheba, was the 3rd king to rule over all of the Israelites. During the latter portion of Solomon's 40-year reign, Solomon became an idolater. Rehoboam, the son born Solomon and Naamah, was the 4th king to rule over all of the Israelites. After Rehoboam gave a specific answer, the Israelites split into 2 kingdoms, according to the will of the Lord God, due to the idolatry and other wickedness of the Israelites. Judah was the nation in the south, Jerusalem was the royal city and Rehoboam was the 1st king to reign. After obeying the Lord God during the beginning few years of his 17-year reign, Rehoboam and many Israelites in Judah began worshiping idols. Israel was the northern nation, Samaria was the final royal city and Jeroboam, the son born to Nebat and Zeruah, was the 1st king to reign. Jeroboam established a system of idolatry throughout the northern nation and idolatry remained throughout the land. King Pekah was the 18th king to rule over all of the Israelites in the northern nation of Israel. During Pekah's 20-year reign, the Assyrians invaded the kingdom and King Tiglath-pileser, ruler of Assyria, began taking captives, including the Reubenites, Gadites and 1/2 the tribe of Manasseh. During the 9th year of the reign of King Hoshea, the 19th king to rule the northern nation, the Assyrians conquered Samaria, according to the will of the Lord God, due to the idolatry and other wickedness of the Israelites. Less than 125 years after Samaria was conquered, Rehoboam's great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-grandson Jehoiakim (Eliakim) became the 17th king to rule Judah. During Jehoiakim's 11-year reign, the Babylonians (Chaldeans) invaded Judah and Jerusalem and King Nebuchadnezzar, ruler of Babylon, began looting the temple of the Lord. Jehoiachin (Jeconiah/Coniah), the son born to Jehoiakim and Nehushta, was the 18th king to rule Judah. During Jehoiachin's 3-month reign, the Babylonians took more prominent Israelites, including Jehoiachin, his wives and mother, to Babylon. During the 11th year of the reign of Jehoiakim's brother King Zedekiah (Mattaniah), the 19th king to rule Judah, the Babylonians conquered Jerusalem, according to the will of the Lord God, due to the idolatry and other wickedness of the Israelites. Over 500 years after Israelites began returning to Judah and Jerusalem, Jesus the Christ, the Son of God, was born.
