What Had Happened Was

And the apostles and brethren that were in Judaea heard that the Gentiles had also received the word of God. And when Peter was come up to Jerusalem, they that were of the circumcision contended with him, Saying, Thou wentest in to men uncircumcised, and didst eat with them. But Peter rehearsed the matter from the beginning, and expounded it by order unto them, saying, I was in the city of Joppa praying: and in a trance I saw a vision, A certain vessel descend, as it had been a great sheet, let down from heaven by four corners; and it came even to me: Upon the which when I had fastened mine eyes, I considered, and saw fourfooted beasts of the earth, and wild beasts, and creeping things, and fowls of the air. And I heard a voice saying unto me, Arise, Peter; slay and eat. But I said, Not so, Lord: for nothing common or unclean hath at any time entered into my mouth. But the voice answered me again from heaven, What God hath cleansed, that call not thou common. And this was done three times: and all were drawn up again into heaven. And, behold, immediately there were three men already come unto the house where I was, sent from Caesarea unto me. And the Spirit bade me go with them, nothing doubting. Moreover these six brethren accompanied me, and we entered into the man's house: And he shewed us how he had seen an angel in his house, which stood and said unto him, Send men to Joppa, and call for Simon, whose surname is Peter; Who shall tell thee words, whereby thou and all thy house shall be saved. And as I began to speak, the Holy Ghost fell on them, as on us at the beginning. Then remembered I the word of the Lord, how that he said, John indeed baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost. Forasmuch then as God gave them the like gift as he did unto us, who believed on the Lord Jesus Christ; what was I, that I could withstand God? When they heard these things, they held their peace, and glorified God, saying, Then hath God also to the Gentiles granted repentance unto life.-Acts 11:1-18***In the desert wilderness of Sinai, in the region of Mount Sinai, the Lord God made a covenant with the Israelites. Over 600 years earlier, the Lord God made a covenant with their 99-year-old ancestor Abraham (Abram the Hebrew). Years before the Lord God made a covenant with Abraham, Abraham was living in Ur in southern Mesopotamia, and the Lord God appeared to Abraham and told Abraham to depart from his country and kin and come into the land he would be shown. Abraham journeyed away from Ur to Haran in northern Mesopotamia with his wife Sarah (Sarai), their father Terah, and nephew Lot. Sometime after 205-year-old Terah died in Haran, Abraham, Sarah and Lot journeyed with their servants and possessions to Canaan. The Lord God told Abraham that Abraham would be made into a great nation, and that he would be a blessing and everyone would be blessed through Abraham. The Lord God told Abraham that Abraham's descendants would be as numerous as the stars in the sky, and they would undergo 400 years of affliction in a foreign land, and depart from the land with a vast amount of valuable goods, and live in Canaan. Every male servant living among Abraham and Sarah and the male servants who lived among their descendants was to be circumcised. The divinely inspired Scriptures of the Holy Bible reveal that Abraham was 99 years old when he was circumcised, and Ishmael, the son born to Abraham and Hagar, Sarah's maidservant, was 13 years old when he was circumcised. When Abraham was 100 years old, Isaac was born to Abraham and 90-year-old Sarah. When Isaac was 40 years old, he became the husband of Rebekah, Abraham and Sarah's grandniece. When Isaac was 60 years old, fraternal twin son Esau (Edom) and Jacob (Israel) were born to Isaac and Rebekah. Decades thereafter, Jacob was married to Rebekah's nieces Leah and Rachel, the daughters of Rebekah's brother Laban the Syrian (Aramean). When Jacob was 130 years old, he moved with his family from Canaan to Egypt, the country wherein Jacob and Rachel's firstborn son Joseph was second-in-command. When Jacob was 147 years old, he died in Egypt and his family buried his body in Canaan. Sometime after 110-year-old Joseph and his siblings were dead, their descendants the Israelites were enslaved in Egypt. Miriam and her younger brothers Aaron and Moses were born into the tribe of Jacob and Leah's 3rd born son Levi. When Moses was 80 years old and Aaron was 83, the Lord God sent them to speak to the Israelite elders and Pharaoh, the king of Egypt. Before the Lord God brought the 10th and final plague upon Pharaoh and Egypt, the Lord God gave Moses commands to be obeyed. The Lord God explained the Passover and the yearly Passover commemoration to Aaron and Moses. Any man who was not an Israelite and wanted to participate in the Passover commemoration was to be circumcised, and the males in the participant's household were to be circumcised. Over 1,400 years after Moses and Aaron led the Israelites, and those with them, away from Egypt, across the divinely parted Red Sea, into the desert wilderness of Shur, and through a 40-year journey to  Canaan, the Promised Land, Jesus the Christ, the Son of God, was born. Jesus was conceived of the Holy Spirit in the womb of Mary, a virgin, and Jesus was born into the tribe of Jacob and Leah's 4th born son Judah to Mary and her husband Joseph when Mary was a virgin. On the 8th day after Jesus was born to Joseph and Mary, Jesus was circumcised. Approximately 30 years after Jesus was born to Joseph and Mary, Jesus was baptized in the Jordan River by Mary's relative John the Baptist, from the tribe of Levi. Jesus having prayed, the heavens tearing open, the Holy Spirit descended as a dove and lit upon Jesus. The Lord God in heaven audibly acknowledged his Son Jesus, and the Holy Spirit led Jesus into the desert wilderness. Jesus fasted for 40 days and nights and was tempted. Afterwards, Jesus was tended to by angels, and Jesus went to the area near John the Baptist, and John the Baptist proclaimed Jesus to be the Lamb of God taking away the sin of the world. In Galilee, Jesus told specific Israelite men, including Simon Peter, to follow him, and Jesus began to preach, teach and perform miracles among the Israelites, the treasured and chosen people of the Lord God. After Jesus was betrayed, arrested, crucified, buried in a tomb, resurrected, seen by over 500 people, and returned to heaven less than 3 1/2 years after he was baptized, Simon Peter was a prominent leader among Israelite believers.
