Job 34:4b(NIV)................................................................Some people see the Bible as a long and boring book filled with incidents and events from the lives of ancient people who probably never existed. The biblical stories are seen as fables. Notably, Romans 15:4 reveals: For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope.(KJV) In this blog, many of the situations and conversations found in the divinely inspired Scriptures of the Holy Bible have been placed in categories that correspond to expressive sayings and phrases. A Certain Time

From the words spoken by Job after
Job's 1st words, and the words spoken
 by Job's friend Eliphaz,
when Job was in the midst of suffering:

Is there not an appointed time to man upon earth? are not his days also like the days of an hireling? As a servant earnestly desireth the shadow, and as a hireling looketh for the reward of his work: So am I made to possess months of vanity, and wearisome nights are appointed to me. When I lie down, I say, When shall I arise, and the night be gone? and I am full of tossings to and fro unto the dawning of the day. My flesh is clothed with worms and clods of dust; my skin is broken, and become loathsome. My days are swifter than a weaver's shuttle, and are spent without hope. O remember that my life is wind: mine eye shall no more see good. The eye of him that hath seen me shall see me no more: thine eyes are upon me, and I am not. As the cloud is consumed and vanisheth away: so he that goeth down to the grave shall come up no more. He shall return no more to his house, neither shall his place know him any more. Therefore I will not refrain my mouth; I will speak in the anguish of my spirit; I will complain in the bitterness of my soul. Am I a sea, or a whale, that thou settest a watch over me? When I say, My bed shall comfort me, my couch shall ease my complaint; Then thou  scarest me with dreams, and terrifiest me through visions: So that my soul chooseth strangling, and death rather than my life. I loathe it; I would not man live alway: let me alone; for my days are vanity. What is  man, that thou shouldest magnify him? and that thou shouldest set thine heart upon him? And that thou shouldest visit him every morning, and try him every moment? How long wilt thou not depart from me, nor let me alone till I swallow down my spittle? I have sinned; what shall I do unto thee, O thou preserver of men? why hast thou set me as a mark against thee, so that I am a burden to myself? And why dost thou not pardon my transgression, and take away my iniquity? for now shall I sleep in the dust; and thou shalt seek me in the morning, but I shall not be.-Job 7:1-21/the complete chapter

Questions in Succession

Psalm 89 consists of 52 verses,
verses 46-52 are given below:

How long, LORD? wilt thou hide thyself for ever? shall thy wrath burn like fire? Remember how short my time is: wherefore hast thou made all men in vain? What man is he that liveth, and shall not see death? shall he deliver his soul from the hand of the grave? Selah. Lord, where are thy former lovingkindnesses, which thou swarest unto David in thy truth? Remember, Lord, the reproach of thy servants; how I do bear in my bosom the reproach of all the mighty people; Wherewith thine enemies have reproached, O LORD; wherewith they have reproached the footsteps of thine anointed. Blesssed be the LORD for evermore. Amen, and Amen
.
-Psalm 89:46-52***The divinely inspired Scriptures of the Holy Bible reveal that the Lord God created  Adam, the 1st man. The Lord God formed Adam from the dust of the ground, and the Lord God made Adam's wife Eve, the mother of all living, after taking a part out of Adam. Adam lived 930 years. Methuselah, the great-great-great-great-great-grandson of Adam and Eve, lived 969 years. Methuselah's grandson Noah the ark builder lived 950 years. Noah's son Shem lived 600 years, and Shem's son Arphaxad lived 438 years. Arphaxad's great-great-great-great-great
-grandson Terah lived 205 years and died and was buried in Haran, in northern Mesopotamia. Abraham (Abram the Hebrew) and Sarah (Sarai) were born to Terah. Isaac was born to 100-year-old Abraham and 90-year-old Sarah. When Isaac was 40 years old, he was married to Rebekah, Abraham and Sarah's grandnieceFraternal twin sons Esau (Edom) and Jacob (Israel) were born to 60-year-old Isaac and Rebekah. Sarah (Sarai) lived 127 years, Abraham lived 175 years, and Isaac lived 180 years. In Padan Aram, Jacob was married to Leah and Rachel, the daughters of Rebekah's brother Laban the Syrian (Aramean). Reuben was the 1st son born to Jacob and Leah, and Joseph was the 1st son born to Jacob and Rachel. During Jacob's 20th year in Haran, he began journeying with his family to Canaan. Benjamin was born near Bethlehem to Jacob and Rachel, and Rachel died. When Joseph was at least 17 years old, his brothers sold him to merchants traveling to Egypt and led Jacob to believe that Joseph was killed by a wild beast. Pharaoh, the king of Egypt, proclaimed Joseph  second-in-command when Joseph was 30 years old. When Jacob was 130 years old, he moved with his family from Canaan to Egypt. After 147-year-old Jacob died in Egypt, Jacob's family buried his body in the same cave in Canaan wherein the bodies of Sarah, Abraham, Rebekah, Isaac, and Leah were buried. Over 700 years after 110-year-old Joseph and his siblings were dead, David was born into the tribe of Jacob and Leah's 4th born son JudahOver a decade after David was born, Samuel, the priest, prophet and judge from the tribe of Levi, anointed David to reign as king over the Israelites in the Promised Land, according to the commands of the Lord God. When David was 30 years old, he began to reign only over the tribe of Judah in the Promised Land, the land that the Lord God promised to give to Abraham, and  Isaac, and to Jacob, and their descendants. When David was 37 1/2 years old, he became the 2nd king to rule over all of the Israelites. Before 70-year-old David died and his body was buried in the City of David, Solomon, the 2nd child born to David and Bathsheba, became the 3rd king to rule over all of the Israelites. Solomon reigned 40 years, died, and was buried in the City of David. Rehoboam, the son born to Solomon and Naamah, was the 4th king to rule over all of the Israelites. After Rehoboam gave a specific answer, the Israelites split into 2 kingdoms, according to the will of the Lord God, due to the idolatry and other wickedness of Solomon. Israel was the northern nation. Samaria was the final royal city and Jeroboam, the son born to Nebat and Zeruah, was the 1st king to reign. Judah was the nation in the south, Jerusalem was the royal city, and Rehoboam was the 1st king to reign. Rehoboam began ruling when he was 41 years old, reigned 17 years, died, and his body was buried in the City of David. Rehoboam's great-great-great-great-grandson Joash (Jehoash) was the 7th king to rule Judah. Jehoiada was a priest from the tribe of Jacob and Leah's 3rd born son Levi. Jehoiada's wife Jehosheba (Jehoshabeath) kept 1-year-old Joash alive when Joash's siblings were being killed by their grandmother Athaliah, and Jehoiada and Jehosheba kept Joash hidden within the bedchambers in the temple of the Lord during the 6 years that Athaliah ruled Judah. After Jehoiada, his sons and those with them presented Joash as the rightful ruler, Joash was crowned and anointed and became the 7th king to rule Judah, and Athaliah was killed. Notably, Jehoiada taught Joash to obey the commands of the Lord God. After 130-year-old Jehoiada died, his body was buried near the bodies of the kings in the City of David, and Joash became an idolater. Joash reigned 40 years, and was killed, and his body was buried in the City of David. Over 700 years after Amaziah, the son born to Joash and Jehoaddan, became the 8th king to rule Judah, John the Baptist and Jesus the Christ, the Son of God, were born. John the Baptist was born into the tribe of Levi to Zechariah (Zacharias) the priest and his wife Elizabeth (Elisabeth). Jesus the Christ was conceived of the Holy Spirit in the womb of Elizabeth's relative  Mary, a virgin, and Jesus was born into the tribe of Judah, the tribe of Judah's kings, to Mary and her husband Joseph when Mary was a virgin. Approximately 30 years after John the Baptist and Jesus the Christ were born, Jesus was baptized in the Jordan River by John the Baptist. Jesus having prayed, the heavens tearing open, the Holy Spirit descended as a dove and lit upon Jesus. The Lord God in heaven audibly acknowledged his Son, and the Holy Spirit led Jesus into the desert wilderness. Jesus fasted 40 days and nights and was tempted. Afterwards, Jesus was tended to by angels, and Jesus went to the area near John the Baptist, and John the Baptist proclaimed Jesus to be the Lamb of God taking away the sin of the world, and testified that Jesus is the Son of God. In Galilee, Jesus told specific Israelite men to follow him, and Jesus began to preach, teach and perform miracles among the Israelites, the treasured and chosen people of the Lord God. Less than 3 1/2 years after Jesus was baptized, Jesus was betrayed by Judas Iscariot the disciple and apostle, and Jesus was arrested, crucified, buried in a tomb, resurrected, seen by over 500 people, and returned to heaven.-Genesis, Exodus, Numbers 13:1-14:45, 20:1-29, 26:127:23, Deuteronomy 31:34:12, Joshua 1:1-4:24, 23:1-24:33, Judges 1:1-2:23, Ruth, 1 Samuel, 2 Samuel, 1 Kings, 2 Kings, 1 Chronicles 1:1-34, 2:1-17, 3:1-24, 6:1-81, 10:1-29:30, 2 Chronicles, Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, Acts 1:1-26

Picture This

upon a mountain with his disciples and
when Elijah (Elias) and Moses, prophets
 from centuries earlier, appear, and
the voice of the Lord God is heard:

And he said unto them, Verily I say unto you, That there be some of them that stand here, which shall not taste of death, till they have seen the kingdom of God come with power. And after six days Jesus taketh with him Peter, and James, and John, and leadeth them up into an high mountain apart by themselves: and he was transfigured before them. And his raiment became shining, exceeding white as snow; so as no fuller on earth can white them. And there appeared unto them Elias with Moses: and they  were talking with Jesus. And Peter answered and said to Jesus, Master, it is good for us to be here: and let us make three tabernacles; one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elias. For he wist not what to say; for they were sore afraid. And there was a cloud that overshadowed them: and a voice came out of the cloud, saying, This is my beloved Son: hear him. And suddenly, when they had looked round about, they saw no man any more, save Jesus only with themselves. And as they came down from the mountain, he charged them that they should tell no man what things they had seen, till the Son of man were risen from the dead. And they kept that saying with themselves, questioning one with another what the rising from the dead should mean. And they asked him, saying, Why say the scribes that Elias must first come? And he answered and told them, Elias verily cometh first, and restoreth all things; and how it is written of the Son of man, that he must suffer many things, and be set at nought. But I say unto you, That Elias is indeed come, and they have done unto him whatsoever they listed, as it is written of him.-Mark 9:1-13

Our Advice You'll Like

And Samuel said unto Jesse, Are here all thy children? And he said, There remaineth yet the youngest, and, behold, he keepeth the sheep. And Samuel said unto Jesse, Send and fetch him: for we will not sit down till he come hither. And he sent, and brought him in. Now he was ruddy, and withal of a beautiful countenance, and goodly to look to. And the LORD said, Arise, anoint him: for this is he. Then Samuel took the horn of oil, and anointed him in the midst of his brethren: and the Spirit of the LORD came upon David from that day forward. So Samuel rose up, and went to Ramah. But the Spirit of the LORD departed from Saul, and an evil spirit from the LORD troubled him. And Saul's servants said unto him, Behold now, an evil spirit from God troubleth thee. Let our lord now command thy servants, which are before thee, to seek out a man, who is a cunning player on an harp: and it shall come to pass, when the evil spirit from God is upon thee, that he shall play with his hand, and thou shalt be well. And Saul said unto his servants, Provide me now a man that can play well, and bring him to me. Then answered one of the servants, and said, Behold, I have seen a son of Jesse the Bethlehemite, that is cunning in playing, and a mighty valiant man, and a man of war, and prudent in matters, and a comely person, and the LORD is with him. Wherefore Saul sent messengers unto Jesse, and said, Send me David thy son, which is with the sheep. And Jesse took an ass laden with bread, and a bottle of wine, and a kid, and sent them by David his son unto Saul. And David came to Saul, and stood before him: and he loved him greatly; and he became his armourbearer. And Saul sent to Jesse, saying, Let David, I pray thee, stand before me; for he hath found favour in my sight. And it came to pass, when the evil spirit from God was upon Saul, that David took an harp, and played with his hand: so Saul was refreshed, and was well, and the evil spirit departed from him.-1 Samuel 16:11-23***Samuel, Saul and David were Israelites born in the Promised Land, the land that the Lord God promised to give to Abraham (Abram the Hebrew), and to Abraham's son Isaac, and to Isaac's youngest fraternal twin son Jacob (Israel), and to their descendants. Samuel was a priest, prophet and judge from the tribe of Levi, descended from Jacob and his 1st wife Leah, and Jacob and Leah's 3rd born son Levi. Saul was from the tribe of Benjamin, descended from Jacob and his 2nd wife Rachel, and Jacob and Rachel's 2nd and last son Benjamin. David was from the tribe of Jacob and Leah's 4th born son Judah. After Samuel's mother Hannah  weaned Samuel, she took Samuel to live at the tabernacle complex in Shiloh, according to the vow Hannah made to the Lord God before Samuel was conceived. Samuel eventually established his home in Ramah (Ramathaim Zophim), his family's hometown. Saul and his family were from Gibeah in Benjamin, in the portion of the Promised Land allotted to the tribe of Benjamin. David and his family were from Bethlehem in Judah, in the portion of the Promised Land allotted to the tribe of Judah. When Samuel was elderly, and his sons Joel (Vashni) and Abiah (Abijah) were not obeying the commands of the Lord God, and King Nahash and his Ammonite army were preparing to attack, the Israelite elders demanded that Samuel appoint a king to lead them. Samuel prayed to the Lord God, and heard from the Lord God, and Samuel spoke to the Israelites, and spoke to the Lord God, and obeyed the commands of the Lord God, and anointed Saul to reign as king. At least twice, Saul did not obey the commands of the Lord God. The Lord God told Samuel that he regretted setting Saul as king and rejected Saul from being king. While Saul reigned, the Lord God sent Samuel to anoint David, a man after God's own heart, to reign as king. After David killed and beheaded Goliath the gigantic Philistine from Gath, David and Jonathan, Saul's son, made a covenant. David was victorious against enemies, and the Israelite women sang of David higher than they sang of Saul, and Saul was angry. Saul wanted to kill David, and sent David on missions to get killed, and commanded others, including Jonathan, to kill David. Saul's daughter Michal was married to David, and helped David escape from their home, and David immediately went to Samuel. After Samuel died, the Israelites buried Samuel's body in Ramah. After the Philistines killed Jonathan and his brothers Malchishua and Abinadab (Ishui?), and Saul's self-inflicted death on the same battlefield, Israelite men from Jabesh Gilead went to Beth Shean (Shan), in the Philistine region, and retrieved the beheaded and mutilated bodies of Saul and his sons, and buried the bones in Jabesh Gilead. Notably, Jabesh Gilead was on the other side of the Jordan River, in the portion of land that Moses had allotted to 1/2 the tribe of Manasseh, the Israelites descended from Jacob and Rachel's firstborn son Joseph and his wife Asenath, and Joseph and Asenath's firstborn son Manasseh, whom Jacob proclaimed to be his own son. Sometime after Israelites from the tribe of Judah anointed 30-year-old David, and David began to reign as king only over the tribe of Judah, David sent a message of blessing to the men in Jabesh Gilead. Meanwhile, Saul's son Ishbosheth (Eshbaal) ruled over the other Israelite tribes. Sometime after Ishbosheth was murdered, the Israelite elders went to David, and David made a covenant with them. The elders anointed 37-year-old David, and David began to rule over all of the Israelite tribes. During his reign, David retrieved the bones of Saul and Jonathan from Jabesh Gilead and buried the bones in Zelah, in the portion of the Promised Land allotted to the tribe of Benjamin. Before 70-year-old David died and his body was buried in the City of David, Solomon, the 2nd child born to David and Bathsheba, became the 3rd king to rule over all of the Israelites. Over 900 years after Rehoboam, the son born to Solomon and Naamah, became the 4th king to rule over all of the Israelites, Jesus the Christ, the Son of God, was born. Jesus was conceived of the Holy Spirit in the womb of Mary, a virgin, and Jesus was born in Bethlehem, into the tribe of Judah, to Mary and her husband Joseph when Mary was a virgin.-Genesis 11:26-50:26, Exodus, Numbers 20:1-29, 27:12-23, Deuteronomy 31:1-30, 32:44-52, 34:1-12, Joshua 1:1-4:24, 23:1-24:33, Judges 1:1-2:23, Ruth, 1 Samuel, 2 Samuel, 1 Kings 1:1-11:43, 1 Chronicles 1:1-34, 2:1-17, 3:1-24, 6:1-81, 8:1-40, 9:35-29:30, Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, Acts 1:1-26

Sounds Like a Plan

From a letter written by the apostle Paul
to believers in Rome:

But now having no more place in these parts, and having a great desire these many years to come unto you; Whensoever I take my journey into Spain, I will come to you: for I trust to see you in my journey, and to be brought on my way thitherward by you, if first I be somewhat filled with your company. But now I go unto Jerusalem to minister unto the saints. For it hath pleased them of Macedonia and Achaia to make a certain contribution for the poor saints which are at Jerusalem. It hath pleased them verily; and their debtors they are. For if the Gentiles have been made partakers of their spiritual things, their duty is also to minister unto them in carnal things. When therefore I have performed this, and have sealed to them this fruit, I will come by you into Spain. And I am sure that, when I come unto you, I shall come in the fulness of the blessing of the gospel of Christ. Now I beseech you, brethren, for the Lord Jesus Christ's sake, and for the love of the Spirit, that ye strive together with me in your prayers to God for me; That I may be delivered from them that do not believe in Judaea; and that my service which I have for Jerusalem may be accepted of the saints; That I may come unto you with joy by the will of God, and may with you be refreshed. Now the God of peace be with you all. Amen.-Romans 15:23-33***Over 500 years before Jesus the Christ, the Son of God, was conceived of the Holy Spirit in the womb of Mary, a virgin, and born in Bethlehem, in Judea (Judaea), to Mary and her husband Joseph when Mary was a virgin, Judea was identified as Judah, the southern nation in the Promised Land. Jerusalem was the royal city. During the 11-year reign of King Jehoiakim (Eliakim), the 17th king to rule Judah, the Babylonians (Chaldeans) invaded Judah and Jerusalem and King Nebuchadnezzar, ruler of Babylon, began looting the temple of the Lord. Jehoiachin (Jeconiah/Coniah), the son born to Jehoiakim and Nehushta, was the 18th king to rule Judah. During Jehoiachin's 3-month reign, the Babylonians took more prominent Israelites, including Jehoiachin, his wives and mother, to Babylon. During the 11th year of the reign of Jehoiakim's brother King Zedekiah (Mattaniah), the 17th king to rule Judah, the Babylonians conquered Jerusalem, according to the will of the Lord God, due to the idolatry and other wickedness of the Israelites. Over 130 years before Jerusalem was conquered, the Assyrians invaded the northern nation of Israel in the Promised Land and King Tiglath-pileser, ruler of Assyria, began taking Israelites captive. During the 9th year of the reign of King Hoshea, the 19th king to rule over all of the Israelites in the northern nation of Israel, the Assyrians conquered the royal city, Samaria, according to the will of the Lord God, due to the idolatry and other wickedness of the Israelites. Before Jesus was born to Joseph and Mary, and after Jesus was betrayed, arrested, crucified, buried in a tomb, resurrected, and returned to heaven less than 33 1/2 years after he was born, the Roman Empire was ruling the land whereupon the kingdoms of the Israelites previously stood. Israelites were living throughout Judea, Samaria and the surrounding provinces, and Romans and other Gentiles, people not born into the Israelite tribes, were also living throughout the land. Paul (Saul) was an Israelite from the tribe of Benjamin, descended from Abraham (Abram the Hebrewand Sarah (Sarai), Isaac and Rebekah, Jacob (Israel) and his 2nd wife Rachel, and Jacob and Rachel's 2nd and last son Benjamin. Paul did not believe Jesus to be the Christ. Throughout Jerusalem, Paul persecuted and imprisoned Israelites who believed Jesus to be the Christ of God. When Paul was journeying to the synagogues in Damascus, Syria, to find, bind, and take to Jerusalem any Israelite believers he found, Paul and those with him saw a light from heaven flash around them. Paul heard the voice of Jesus speaking to him, and Paul spoke to Jesus, and obeyed Jesus. In Damascus, Paul was baptized. From thenceforward, Paul the apostle journeyed and wrote divinely inspired letters, teaching Israelites and Gentiles the good news of Jesus the Christ and everlasting life. Timothy (Timotheus) and Silas (Silvanus) were with Paul during at least 1 journey to Macedonia, a Roman province and country north of Achaia (Greece). Moreover, Timothy and Silas journeyed together from Macedonia to help Paul in Achaia.-Genesis 11:26-50:26, Exodus, Numbers 13:1-14:45, 20:1-19, 26:1-27:23, Deuteronomy 31:1-34:12, Joshua 1:1-4:24, 23:1-24:33, Judges 1:1-2:23, Ruth, 1 Samuel, 2 Samuel, 1 Kings, 2 Kings, 1 Chronicles 1:1-34, 2:1-17, 3:1-24, 8:1-40, 9:35-29:30, 2 Chronicles, Ezra 1:1-11, Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, Acts 1:1-26, 6:1-84, 9:1-31, 11:19-28:31, Romans, 1 Corinthians, 2 Corinthians, Galatians, Ephesians, Philippians, Colossians, 1 Thessalonians, 2 Thessalonians, 1 Timothy, 2 Timothy, Titus, Philemon

How Now Has This Come About

And it came to pass, that when Jesus had finished these parables, he departed thence. And when he was come into his own country, he taught them in their synagogue, insomuch that they were astonished, and said, Whence hath this man this wisdom, and these mighty works? Is not this the carpenter's son? is not his mother called Mary? and his brethren, James, and Joses, and Simon, and Judas? And his sisters, are they not all with us? Whence then hath this man all these things? And they were offended in him. But Jesus said unto them, A prophet is not without honour, save in his own country, and in his own house. And he did not many mighty works there because of their unbelief.-Matthew 13:53-58***When Jesus the Christ, the Son of God, was born in Bethlehem, Judea, into the tribe of Judah to Mary  and her husband Joseph after being conceived of the Holy Spirit in Mary's womb when Mary was a virgin, Jesus was the only child in their family. When Joseph, Mary and Jesus were staying in Egypt after an angel of the Lord appeared and spoke to Joseph in a dream, Jesus was the only child in their family. Sometime after an angel of the Lord appeared and spoke to Joseph in a dream, and Joseph, Mary and Jesus returned to Judea, and Joseph received another divine warning in a dream, Joseph, Mary and Jesus lived in Nazareth, Joseph and Mary's hometown in Galilee, and other children were eventually living in the household. Approximately 30 years after Jesus was born to Joseph and Mary, Jesus was baptized in the Jordan River by Mary's relative John the Baptist, from the tribe of Levi.
