King David, and
Shobi, Machir, and Barzillai
And it came to pass, when David was come to Mahanaim, that Shobi the son of Nahash of Rabbah of the children of Ammon, and Machir the son of Ammiel of Lo-debar, and Barzillai the Gileadite of Rogelim, Brought beds, and basons, and earthen vessels, and wheat, and barley, and flour, and parched corn, and beans, and lentiles, and parched pulse, And honey, and butter, and sheep, and cheese of kine, for David, and for the people that were with him, to eat: for they said, The people is hungry, and weary, and thirsty, in the wilderness.-2 Samuel 17:27-29***Ben-ammi, the forefather of the Ammonites, was the son born to Lot and Lot's youngest daughter. Lot and Milcah were born to Haran. Haran, Abraham (Abram the Hebrew), Nahor (Nachor), and Sarah (Sarai) were born to Terah. Terah was the great-great-great-great-great-great-grandson of Shem, and Shem was born to Noah the ark builder. Bethuel the Syrian (Aramean) was born to Nahor and Milcah. Shem's son Aram was the forefather of the Arameans. The Philistines, Amorites and Canaanites descended from Noah's son Ham. Isaac was born to 100-year-old Abraham and 90-year-old Sarah. On the 8th day after Isaac was born, Abraham circumcised Isaac, according to the covenant of circumcision that the Lord God gave Abraham. Laban the Syrian (Aramean) and Rebekah were born to Bethuel. Forty years after Isaac was born, he was married to Rebekah. Fraternal twin sons Esau (Edom) and Jacob (Israel) were born to 60-year-old Isaac and Rebekah. Esau was Isaac's favorite, and Jacob was Rebekah's favorite. Isaac was elderly, and his eyesight was diminished, and he thought his death was near when he told Esau to hunt a specific animal and cook and serve him a specific meal, and Esau said that he would bless Esau before dying. Rebekah heard Esau's instructions and prompted and prepared Jacob to deceive Isaac and cheat Esau. After Rebekah learned that Esau planned to kill Jacob, she spoke words to Isaac that led him to send Jacob from their home in Beersheba, Canaan, to Rebekah's family in Padan Aram, Haran. During Jacob's 7th year in Haran, he was married to Laban's daughters Leah and Rachel. Reuben, Simeon, Levi, Judah, Issachar, Zebulun, and daughter Dinah were born to Jacob and Leah. Dan and Naphtali were born to Jacob and Bilhah, Rachel's maidservant. Gad and Asher were born to Jacob and Zilpah, Leah's maidservant. Joseph was the 1st son born to Jacob and Rachel, and Rachel and Joseph were Jacob's favorites. During Jacob's 20th year in Haran, he began journeying home to Canaan with his family, servants, animals, and possessions. In Mahanaim, Jacob saw the angels of God. Shortly thereafter, Jacob was involved in a divine wrestling encounter, and Jacob was reunited with Esau. Near Bethlehem, Benjamin was born to Jacob and Rachel, and Rachel died, and near Kiriath-arba (Kirjatharba/Hebron), Jacob and Esau were reunited. Joseph was 17 years old when his brothers sold him to merchants traveling to Egypt and led Jacob to believe that Joseph was killed by a wild beast, and Joseph was 30 years old when Pharaoh, the king of Egypt, proclaimed him second-in-command. Jacob was 130 years old when he moved with his family from Canaan to Egypt. In Egypt, Jacob proclaimed Manasseh and Ephraim, the sons born to Joseph and his wife Asenath, to be his own sons, and the tribe of Joseph became the tribe of Manasseh and the tribe of Ephraim. Sometime after 147-year-old Jacob died in Egypt, and Jacob's family buried his body in Canaan, and 110-year-old Joseph and his siblings were dead, their descendants the Israelites were enslaved in Egypt. Miriam and her younger brothers Aaron and Moses were born into the tribe of Levi to Amram and Jochebed. Moses was 80 years old and Aaron was 83 when they led the Israelites away from Egypt, across the divinely parted Red Sea, into the desert wilderness of Shur, and the desert wilderness of Sin, and the desert wilderness of Sinai, according to the commands of the Lord God. During the 40-year journey to Canaan, the Promised Land, Miriam the prophetess died and was buried in Kadesh, in the desert wilderness of Zin. Upon Mount Hor, 123-year-old Aaron the high priest died. The Israelites destroyed the Canaanite ruler of Arad and his kingdom, and Amorite King Sihon and his kingdom, and expelled the Amorites from Jazer (Jaazer), and destroyed gigantic Amorite King Og and his kingdom, and the Israelites in the tribe of Reuben and the tribe of Gad asked to be given some of the land recently conquered. Moses spoke to the Reubenites and Gadites, and after they agreed to the terms presented, Moses gave the Reubenites, Gadites, and 1/2 the tribe of Manasseh the land requested. Gilead was in the region that Moses gave to the descendants of Manasseh's son Machir, and the Israelites living throughout Gilead were known as Gileadites, and the family of Machir's son Gilead were known as Gileadites, Near Canaan, Moses proclaimed his last messages to the Israelites and told them about their upcoming desire to be led by a king. When Moses went upon Mount Nebo, the Lord God showed Moses the Promised Land, and 120-year-old Moses the prophet died, and was divinely buried. Joshua, Moses' aide and successor from the tribe of Ephraim, led the Israelites across the divinely parted Jordan River and onto the land that the Lord God promised to give to Abraham, and Isaac, and to Jacob, and their descendants. After 110-year-old Joshua died, and was buried in his tribe's portion of the Promised Land, the Israelites were led by elders, judges and their own minds. Samuel the priest, prophet and judge was born into the tribe of Levi to Elkanah and Hannah. When Samuel was elderly, and his sons Joel (Vashni) and Abiah (Abijah) were not obeying the commands of the Lord God, and King Nahash and his Ammonite army were preparing to attack, the Israelite elders demanded that Samuel appoint a king to lead them, and Samuel anointed Saul, from the tribe of Benjamin, to reign, according to the command of the Lord God. Saul was at Gibeah of God (the hill of God) when the Spirit of God came upon him. At least twice, Saul did not obey the commands of the Lord God. Samuel told Saul that the Lord God rejected Saul from being king and had torn the kingdom from Saul. David was from the tribe of Judah, and lived in Bethlehem, and was a man after God's own heart. While Saul reigned, the Lord God sent Samuel to anoint David to reign as king, and the Spirit of the Lord came upon David, and the Spirit of the Lord departed from Saul. After Saul heard about David's skills, strength, appearance, and favor with the Lord God, he commanded that David's father Jesse send David to him, and David began serving as a musician and an armor-bearer for Saul. Amid the Valley of Elah, David killed and beheaded Goliath the gigantic Philistine. The Israelite women sang of David higher than they sang of Saul, and Saul was angry. Saul wanted to kill David, and became afraid of David, and sent David on missions to get killed, and commanded others, including Jonathan, to kill David. Saul's daughter Michal was married to David and helped David escape from their home. Hundreds of distressed, discontented and indebted men joined David. In the wilderness, David sent 10 of the younger men among them to speak with wealthy Nabal and make a request. Nabal refused to give any goods to the 10 young men and they returned to David. David gave all of his men a command, and approximately 400 of the men went with David and 200 men stayed on guard at the camp. A young man from Nabal's camp told Abigail, Nabal's wife, about the incident, and Abigail prepared and packed an abundance of bread, wine, meat, and other food for David and his men. David and Abigail saw and spoke with each other, and David sent Abigail away in peace. The next morning, Abigail told Nabal about the provision given to David, and Nabal's heart died, and Nabal spent approximately 10 days like a stone, and the Lord God struck Nabal, and Nabal died. Abigail became David's wife, and Ahinoam was David's wife. Meanwhile, Michal was married to Palti (Paltiel/Phalti/Phatiel). After the Philistines killed Jonathan and his brothers Malchishua and Abinadab (Ishui?) upon Mount Gilboa, and Saul's self-inflicted death on the same battlefield, men from the tribe of Judah anointed 30-year-old David, and David began to reign only over the tribe of Judah. In Mahanaim, Saul's cousin and army commander Abner installed Saul's son Ishbosheth (Eshbaal) as king over the other Israelite tribes. Sometime after Ishbosheth was murdered, the Israelite elders went to David, and David made a covenant with them. The elders anointed 37-year-old David, and David began to rule over all of the Israelites. In Hebron, Amnon was born to David and Ahinoam, and Chileab (Daniel)?) was born to David and Abigail, and Absalom and Tamar were born to David and Maacah (Maachah), a Syrian (Aramean) princess from Geshur. The divinely inspired Scriptures of the Holy Bible reveal that 2 years after Amnon raped Tamar, Absalom was responsible for Amnon's death, and Absalom spent 3 years in Geshur before Joab, David's nephew and army commander, received David's permission to bring Absalom home. Years thereafter, Absalom worked to have himself proclaimed king while David reigned. David and those loyal to David left Jerusalem. Near a hilltop, Ziba, the servant of Jonathan's son Mephibosheth (Meribbaal), provided David with donkeys hauling bread, raisins, fruit and wine. At Mahanaim, Nahash's son Shobi, and Barzillai the Gileadite, and Machir, the benefactor who provided for Mephibosheth after Jonathan was killed, brought supplies to David. While in the hearing of some Israelites, David gave Joab, Abishai and Ittai a command about Absalom. Joab disobeyed the command and thrust 3 weapons into Absalom's body, and Joab's 10 armor-bearers attacked Absalom, and Absalom was dead. Over 900 years after Adonijah, the son born to David and Haggith, worked to have himself proclaimed king while David reigned, and Solomon, a son born to David and Bathsheba, became the 3rd king to rule over all of the Israelites, and 70-year-old David died, John the Baptist and Jesus the Christ, the Son of God, were born. John the Baptist was born into the tribe of Levi to Zechariah (Zacharias) the priest and his wife Elizabeth (Elisabeth). Jesus the Christ was conceived of the Holy Spirit in the womb of Elizabeth's relative Mary, a virgin, and Jesus was born in Bethlehem into the tribe of Judah to Mary and her husband Joseph when Mary was a virgin. On the 8th day after John the Baptist was born, he was circumcised, and on the 8th day after Jesus the Christ was born, Jesus was circumcised. Approximately 30 years after John the Baptist and Jesus the Christ were born, Jesus was baptized in the Jordan River by John the Baptist. Jesus having prayed, the heavens tearing open, the Holy Spirit descended as a dove and lit upon Jesus. The Lord God in heaven audibly acknowledged his Son Jesus, and the Holy Spirit led Jesus into the desert wilderness. Jesus fasted 40 days and nights and was tempted. Afterwards, Jesus was tended to by angels, and Jesus went to the area near John the Baptist, and John the Baptist proclaimed Jesus to the the Lamb of God taking away the sin of the world, and testified that Jesus is the Son of God. In Galilee, Jesus told specific Israelite men to follow him, and Jesus began to preach, teach and perform miracles among the Israelites. Now the days of David drew nigh that he should die; and he charged Solomon his son, saying,-1 Kings 2:1...But shew kindness unto the sons of Barzillai the Gileadite, and let them be of those that eat at thy table: for so they came to me when I fled because of Absalom thy brother.-1 Kings 2:7
