...................................................................LET US LEARN TOGETHER WHAT IS GOOD. Job 34:4b(NIV)................................................................Some people see the Bible as a long and boring book filled with incidents and events from the lives of ancient people who probably never existed. The biblical stories are seen as fables. Notably, Romans 15:4 (KJV) reveals: For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope. In this blog, many of the situations and conversations found in the divinely inspired Scriptures of the Holy Bible have been placed in categories that correspond to expressive sayings and phrases. Reference information, background information and links connecting the people and places are given to help you find a place to begin reading the Bible for yourself.

The Israelites in Canaan, the Promised Land

Neither did Manasseh drive out the inhabitants of Beth-shean and her towns, nor Taanach and her towns, nor the inhabitants of Dor and her towns, nor the inhabitants of Ibleam and her towns, nor the inhabitants of Megiddo and her towns: but the Canaanites would dwell in that land. And it came to pass, when Israel was strong, that they put the Canaanites to tribute, and did not utterly drive them out. Neither did Ephraim drive out the Canaanites that dwelt in Gezer; but the Canaanites dwelt in Gezer among them. Neither did Zebulun drive out the inhabitants of Kitron, nor the inhabitants of Nahalol; but the Canaanites dwelt among them, and became tributaries. Neither did Asher drive out the inhabitants of Accho, nor the inhabitants of Zidon, nor of Ahlab, nor of Achzib, nor of Helbah, nor of Aphik, nor of Rehob: But the Asherites dwelt among the Canaanites, the inhabitants of the land: for they did not drive them out. Neither did Naphtali drive out the inhabitants of Beth-shemesh, nor the inhabitants of Beth-anath; but he dwelt among the Canaanites, the inhabitants of the land: nevertheless the inhabitants of Beth-shemesh and of Beth-anath became tributaries unto them. And the Amorites forced the children of Dan into the mountain: for they would not suffer them to come down to the valley: But the Amorites would dwell in mount Heres in Aijalon, and in Shaalbim: yet the hand of the house of Joseph prevailed, so that they became tributaries. And the coast of the Amorites was from the going up to Akrabbim, from the rock, and upward.-Judges 1:27-36***The Israelites descended from Noah the ark builder, Noah's son Shem, Shem's great-great-great-great-great-great-grandson Terah, Terah's children Abraham (Abram the Hebrew) and Sarah (Sarai), their son Isaac and his wife Rebekah, and Isaac and Rebekah youngest fraternal twin son Jacob (Israel). The Canaanites and Amorites descended from Noah's son Ham, and Ham's son Canaan. Notably, Canaan was the name of the land inhabited by the Canaanites, Amorites and other idolaters that the Lord God promised to give to Abraham's descendants and childless Abraham. When Abraham was over 75 years old and in a deep sleep, the Lord God told Abraham that Abraham's descendants would be afflicted 400 years in a foreign land, and the Lord God would judge the foreign nation, and Abraham's descendants would come out of the land with great possessions and live in Canaan. Ishmael was born in Canaan to 86-year-old Abraham and Hagar, Sarah's maidservant. Isaac was born in Canaan to 100-year-old Abraham and 90-year-old Sarah (Sarai). When Isaac was 40 years old, he was married to Rebekah, Abraham and Sarah grandniece. Fraternal twin sons Esau (Edom) and Jacob (Israel) were born to 60-year-old Isaac and Rebekah. In Padan Aram, Haran, Jacob was married to Leah and Rachel, the daughters of Rebekah's brother Laban the Syrian (Aramean). Reuben, Simeon, Levi, Judah, Issachar, Zebulun, and daughter Dinah were born to Jacob and Leah. Dan and Naphtali were born to Jacob and Bilhah, Rachel's maidservant. Gad and Asher were born to Jacob and Zilpah, Leah's maidservant. Joseph was the 1st son born to Jacob and Rachel. During Jacob's 20th year in Haran, he began journeying home to Canaan with his family, servants, animals, and pbossessions. In Canaan, in an area near Bethlehem, Benjamin was born to Jacob and Rachel, and Rachel died. When Jacob was 130 years old, he moved with his family from Canaan to Egypt, the country wherein Joseph was second-in-command. In Egypt, Jacob proclaimed Manasseh and Ephraim, the sons born to Joseph and his wife Asenath, to be his own sons, and the tribe of Joseph became the tribe of Manasseh and the tribe of Ephraim. Sometime after 147-year-old Jacob died in Egypt, and Jacob's family buried his body in Canaan, and 110-year-old Joseph and his siblings were dead, the Israelites were enslaved in Egypt. Miriam and her younger brothers Aaron and Moses were from the tribe of Levi. When Moses was 80 years old and in the region of Mount Horeb (Sinai), he saw a fiery sight, and the Lord God told Moses that he was going to deliver the Israelites from Egypt and bring the Israelites to a good, spacious land flowing with milk and honey and inhabited by the Canaanites, Amorites, Hivites, Hittites, Perizzites, and Jebusites. Moses spoke to the Lord God, and the Lord God answered Moses, and the Lord God sent Moses and 83-year-old Aaron to speak to the Israelite elders and Pharaoh, the king of Egypt. The Israelites believed and worshiped. Pharaoh did not believe. After the Lord God brought the 10th and final plague upon Pharaoh and Egypt, Pharaoh told Moses and Aaron to get the Israelites and their animals and go serve the Lord God. Moreover, Pharaoh told Moses and Aaron to bless him. Before Moses and Aaron led the Israelites, and those with them, away from Egypt, across the divinely parted Red Sea, and into the desert wilderness of Shur, the Israelites requested and were given an abundance of valuable goods, fulfilling the words that the Lord God spoke to Abraham. In the desert wilderness of Sinai, in the region of Mount Sinai, the Israelites heard the voice of the Lord God proclaim the Ten Commandments to them, and the Lord God began giving Moses judgments, statues and laws for the Israelites, and the Lord God described the methods whereby he would expel the Canaanites, Amorites and other idolaters from the land. During the 40-year journey to Canaan, the Promised Land, Miriam the prophetess died and was buried in Kadesh, in the desert wilderness of Zin. Upon Mount Hor, 123-year-old Aaron the high priest died. Shortly thereafter, the Lord God gave Moses commands for allotting each tribe its portion of the Promised Land, and the Lord God told Moses the names of the men chosen to help Joshua and Eleazer, Aaron's son and successor, assign the land. Before Moses went upon Mount Nebo, and the Lord God showed Moses the Promised Land, and 120-year-old Moses the prophet died and was divinely buried, Moses began proclaiming his last messages to the Israelites, including the commands that the Lord God gave regarding the Canaanites, Amorites, and other idolaters inhabiting the Promised Land. Joshua, Moses' aide and successor from the tribe of Ephraim, led the Israelites across the divinely parted Jordan River and onto the land that the Lord God promised to give to Abraham, and Isaac, and to Jacob, and their descendants. After the Israelites destroyed Jericho and Ai, and defeated King Adoni-zedek, King Jabin, their armies and allies, and conquered more kings and kingdoms, Joshua, Eleazer and the specified leaders began dividing the land according to the commands that the Lord God gave Moses. Over 1,300 years after the Danites, the Israelites in the tribe of Dan, were forced into the mountains, and sent spies to search for land, and conquered and burned Laish (Leshem), and rebuilt and settled in the city, and renamed the city Dan, John the Baptist and Jesus the Christ, the Son of God, were born. John the Baptist was born into the tribe of Levi to Zechariah (Zacharias) the priest and his wife Elizabeth (Elisabeth). Jesus the Christ was conceived of the Holy Spirit in the womb of Elizabeth's relative Mary, a virgin, and Jesus was born in Bethlehem into the tribe of Judah to Mary and her husband Joseph when Mary was a virgin. Approximately 30 years after Jesus was born to Joseph and Mary, Jesus was baptized in the Jordan River by John the Baptist. Jesus having prayed, the heavens tearing open, the Holy Spirit descended as a dove and lit upon Jesus. The Lord God in heaven audibly acknowledged his Son Jesus, and the Holy Spirit led Jesus into the desert wilderness. Jess fasted 40 days and nights and was tempted. Afterwards, Jesus was tended to by angels, and Jesus went to the area near John the Baptist, and John the Baptist proclaimed Jesus to be the Lamb of God taking away the sin of the world, and testified that Jesus is the Son of God. In Galilee, Jesus told specific Israelite men to follow him, and Jesus began to preach, teach and perform miracles among the Israelites. When Jesus saw vendors and money changers conducting business on  the grounds of the temple in Jerusalem, approximately 6 miles from Bethlehem, Jesus drove out the vendors and customers. In the synagogue in Nazareth, Galilee, Jesus spoke of Elijah the prophet, Elisha the prophet, a widow in Zarephath, and Naaman the Syrian (Aramean), and the Israelites stood up and cast Jesus out of their city, and brought Jesus to the brink of the hill, intending to throw Jesus down.-Genesis, Exodus, Numbers, Deuteronomy, Joshua, Judges, Ruth, 1 Samuel, 2 Samuel, 1 Kings, 2 Kings, 1 Chronicles, 2 Chronicles, Ezra 1:1-11, Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, Acts 1:1-26

But If You Don't

After the Lord God commanded Moses the prophet
and Eleazar the high priest to conduct a census,
the Lord God gave Moses commands for dividing
Canaan, the Promised Landthe land that the
Lord God promised to give to Abraham (Abram
the Hebrew), and to Abraham's son Isaac,
and to Isaac's youngest fraternal twin son

And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, Unto these the land shall be divided for an inheritance according to the number of names. To many thou shalt give the more inheritance, and to few thou shalt give the less inheritance: to every one shall his inheritance be given according to those that were numbered of him. Notwithstanding the land shall be divided by lot: according to the names of the tribes of their fathers they shall inherit. According to the lot shall the possession thereof be divided between many and few.-Numbers 26:52-56

And the LORD spake unto Moses in the plains of Moab by Jordan near Jericho, saying, Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, When ye are passed over Jordan into the land of Canaan; Then ye shall drive out all the inhabitants of the land from before you, and destroy all their pictures, and destroy all their molten images, and quite pluck down all their high places: And ye shall dispossess the inhabitants of the land, and dwell therein: for I have given you the land to possess it. And ye shall divide the land by lot for an inheritance among your families: and to the more ye shall give the more inheritance, and to the fewer ye shall give the less inheritance: every man's inheritance shall be in the place where his lot falleth; according to the tribes of your fathers ye shall inherit. But if ye will not drive out the inhabitants of the land from before you; then it shall come to pass, that those which ye let remain of them shall be pricks in our eyes, and thorns in your sides, and shall vex you in the land wherein ye dwell. A Certain Woman

Jesus the Christ, the Son of God,
after speaking with some
and his disciples

And from thence he arose, and went into the borders of Tyre and Sidon, and entered into an house, and would have no man know it: but he could not be hid. For a certain woman, whose young daughter had an unclean spirit, heard of him, and came and fell at his feet: The woman was a Greek, a Syrophenician by nation; and she besought him that he would cast forth the devil out of her daughter. But Jesus said unto her, Let the children first be filled: for it is not meet to take the children's bread, and to cast it unto the dogs. And she answered and said unto him, Yes, Lord: yet the dogs under the table eat of the children's crumbs. And he said unto her, For this saying go thy way; the devil is gone out of thy daughter. And when she was come to her house, she found the devil gone out, and her daughter laid upon the bed.-Mark 7:24-30***Sidon (Zidon) was born to Canaan, and Canaan was born to Ham, and Ham was born to Noah the ark  builder. Noah was the great-grandson of Enoch, and Enoch was the great-great-great-grandson of Seth, and Seth was born to Adam and Eve. Adam was the 1st man. The Lord God created Adam. The Lord God formed Adam from the dust of the ground, and the Lord God formed Adam's wife Eve, the mother of all living, after taking a part out of Adam. Noah's son Shem was the great-great-great-great-great-great-grandfather of Terah. Abraham (Abram the Hebrew) and Sarah (Sarai) were born to Terah. After the Lord God appeared to Abraham and told Abraham to get out from his country and kin and come into the land he would be shown, Abraham journeyed away from Ur, in southern Mesopotamia, with Sarah, Terah, and nephew Lot and began living in Haran, in northern Mesopotamia. Shortly after 205-year-old Terah died, 75-year-old Abraham, 65-year-old Sarah, and Lot journeyed with their servants and possessions to Canaan, land inhabited by Canaan's descendants the Canaanites and other idolaters. The Lord God promised to give Canaan to Abraham's descendants and Abraham. Ishmael was born to 86-year-old Abraham and Hagar, Sarah's maidservant. Isaac was born to 100-year-old Abraham and 90-year-old Sarah. When Isaac was 40 years old, he was married to Rebekah, Abraham and Sarah's grandniece. Fraternal twin sons Esau (Edom) and Jacob (Israel) were born to 60-year-old Isaac and Rebekah. Gad and Asher were born to Jacob and Zilpah, Leah's maidservant. Joseph was the 1st son born to Jacob and Rachel. Near Bethlehem, Benjamin was born to Jacob and Rachel, and Rachel died. Sidon was a prominent Phoenician seaport city located in the portion of the Promised Land allotted to the tribe of Asher. However, the Israelites in the tribe of Asher were not able to expel the Sidonians, and thus the Israelites lived among them. Tyre was a prominent Phoenician seaport city located at least 20 miles from Sidon. Over 300 years after 110-year-old Joshua died and was buried in his tribe's portion of the Promised Land, Saul, from the tribe of Benjamin, became the 1st king to rule over the Israelites. David, from the tribe of Judah, was the 2nd king to rule over all of the Israelites. Solomon, a son born to David and Bathsheba, was the 3rd king to reign. Rehoboam, the son born to Solomon and Naamah, was the 4th king to rule over all of the Israelites. After Rehoboam gave a specific answer, the Israelites split into 2 kingdoms, according to the will of the Lord God, due to the idolatry and other wickedness of Solomon. Judah was the nation in the south and consisted of the tribe of Judah and the tribe of Benjamin. Jerusalem was the royal city, and Rehoboam was the 1st king to reign. Israel was the northern nation and consisted of the other Israelite tribes. Samaria was the final royal city and Jeroboam, the son born to Nebat and Zeruah, was the 1st king to reign. King Ahab was the 7th king to rule over all of the Israelites in the northern nation of Israel. Ahab was an Israelite, Ahab's wife Jezebel was a Sidonian princess, and Ahab and Jezebel were idolaters. The divinely inspired Scriptures of the Holy Bible reveal that a famine occurred during Ahab's 22-year reign after Elijah the prophet prayed to the Lord God, and the Lord God sent Elijah to a widow divinely appointed to provide for him in Zarephath, a Phoenician seaport city located between Tyre and Sidon. Over 800 years after Elijah went up into heaven by a whirlwind, John the Baptist and Jesus the Christ, the Son of God, were born. Background information:

Abraham (Abram the Hebrew) and Sarah (Sarai) were born to Terah.  Terah was the great-great-great-great-great-great-grandson of Shem. Shem was born to Noah the ark builder. Fraternal twin sons Esau (Edom) Jacob (Israel) were born to 60-year-old Isaac and Rebekah. Mount Seir was the region inhabited by the Horites (Horim). The Lord God gave Mount Seir to Esau, and the Lord God destroyed the Horites, and Esau's descendants the Edomites destroyed and dispossessed the Horites and began living throughout Mount Seir. Canaan was land inhabited by the Hittites and other idolaters that the Lord God promised to give to Abraham, and Isaac, and to Jacob, and their descendants. Esau was 40 years old when he was married to Judith and Bashemath, Hittite women descended from Noah's son Ham, Ham's son Canaan, and Canaan's son Heth. When Isaac was elderly and his eyesight was dim, he gave instructions to Esau, his favorite son. Rebekah heard Isaac speaking to Esau, and gave instructions to Jacob, her favorite son, and Jacob deceived Isaac and cheated Esau. After Rebekah learned that Esau planned to kill Jacob, she spoke words to Isaac that led Isaac to send Jacob from their home in Canaan to Rebekah's family in Padan Aram, Haran.  Shortly thereafter, Esau was married to Ishamel's daughter Mahalath. During Jacob's 7th year in Haran, Jacob was married to Leah and Rachel, the daughters of Rebekah's brother Laban the Syrian (Aramean). During Jacob's 20th year in Haran, he began journeying home to Canaan with his family, servants, animals, and possessions. After a divine wrestling encounter in Peniel (Penuel), Jacob and Esau were reunited, and Esau returned to his home in Seir. Near Bethlehem, Benjamin was born to Jacob and Rachel, and Rachel died. Jacob and Isaac were reunited in Hebron. Over 800 years after 180-year-old Isaac died, and Esau and Jacob buried Jacob's body in the cave in Hebron wherein Sarah, Abraham, and Rebekah were buried after they died, Samuel the priest and prophet was the judge leading the Israelites. When Samuel was elderly, and his sons Joel (Vashni) and Abiah (Abijah) were not obeying the commands of the Lord God, and King Nahash and his Ammonite army were preparing to attack, the Israelite elders demanded that Samuel appoint a king to lead them. Meanwhile, the donkeys that belonged to Kish, from the tribe of Benjamin, were lost and Kish sent his son Saul, with a servant, to find the donkeys. Saul followed the servant's advice, and the directions given by a group of young ladies, and Saul and the servant met Samuel, and obeyed Samuel, and Samuel anointed Saul to reign as king, according to the command of the Lord God. David, from the tribe of Judah was the 2nd king to rule over all of the Israelites in the Promised Land. The divinely inspired Scriptures of the Holy Bible reveal that before the era of the Israelite kings, 130-year-old Jacob moved with his family from Canaan to Egypt, and 147-year-old Jacob died in Egypt, and Jacob's family buried his body in the cave in Canaan, and 110-year-old Joseph and his siblings died in Egypt, and the Israelites were enslaved in Egypt, and Moses and his older brother Aaron led the Israelites away from Egypt, across the divinely parted Red Sea, and through a 40-year journey in the desert wilderness, and Joshua led the Israelites across the divinely parted Jordan River and onto the Promised Land, and after 110-year-old Joshua died and was buried in his tribe's portion of the Promised Land, the Israelites were led by elders, judges, and their own minds. Over 900 years after Solomon, a son born to David and Bathsheba, became the 3rd king to rule over all of the Israelites, Jesus the Christ, the Son of God, was born, Jesus was conceived of the Holy Spirit in the womb of Mary, a virgin, and Jesus was born in Bethlehem, into the tribe of Judah, to Mary and her husband Joseph when Mary was a virgin.-Genesis, Exodus, Numbers 13:1-14:45, 20:1-19, 26:1-27:23, Deuteronomy 31:1-34:12, Joshua 1:1-4:24, 23:1-24:33, Judges 1:1-2:23, Ruth, 1 Samuel, 2 Samuel, 1 Kings, 2 Kings, 1 Chronicles, 2 Chronicles, Ezra 1:1-11, Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, Acts 1:1-26

King Solomon

And three times in a year did Solomon offer burnt offerings and peace offerings upon the altar which he built unto the LORD, and he burnt incense upon the altar that was before the LORD. So he finished the house. And king Solomon made a navy of ships in Ezion-geber, which is beside Eloth, on the shore of the Red sea, in the land of Edom. And Hiram sent in the navy his servants, shipmen that had knowledge of the sea, with the servants of Solomon. And they came to Ophir, and fetched from thence gold, four hundred and twenty talents, and brought it to king Solomon

When Isaac was 40 years old, he was married to Rebekah, Abraham and Sarah's grandniece. Fraternal twin sons Esau (Edom) and Jacob (Israel) were born to 60-year-old Isaac and Rebekah. The divinely inspired Scriptures of the Holy Bible reveal that the Lord God promised to give Canaan, land inhabited by idolaters, to Abraham, and Isaac, and to Jacob, and their descendants, and the Lord God gave Mount Seir, the region inhabited by Horites (Horim), to Esau. Elath (Eloth) was a seaport in the territory of the Edomites, and was located near Ezion-geber. During Jacob's 20th year in Haran, he began journeying home to Canaan with his family, servants, animals, and possessions. Near Bethlehem, Benjamin was born to Jacob and Rachel, and Rachel died. When Joseph was at least 17 years old, his brother sold him to merchants traveling to Egypt and led Jacob to believe that Joseph was killed by a wild beast. Joseph was 30 years old when Pharaoh, the king of Egypt, proclaimed him second-in-command. Jacob was 130 years old when he moved with his family from Canaan to Egypt. In Egypt, Jacob proclaimed Manasseh and Ephraim, the sons born to Joseph and his wife Asenath, to be his own sons. Sometime after 147-year-old Jacob died in Egypt, and Jacob's family buried his body in Canaan, and 110-year-old Joseph and his siblings were dead, their descendants the Israelites were enslaved in Egypt. Miriam and her younger brothers Aaron and Moses were born into the tribe of Levi. When Moses was 80 years old and Aaron was 83, the Lord God sent them to speak to the Israelite elders and Pharaoh, the king of Egypt. After the Lord God brought the 10th and final plague upon Pharaoh and Egypt, Moses and Aaron led the Israelites, and those with them, away from Egypt, across the divinely parted Red Sea, and into the desert wilderness of Shur. In the desert wilderness of Sinai, in the region of Mount Sinai, the Israelites heard the voice of the Lord God proclaim the Ten Commandments to them, and the Lord God began giving Moses judgments, statues and laws for the Israelites, and the Lord God gave Moses commands about the feasts that the Israelites were to celebrate. When Moses was upon Mount Sinai 40 days and nights with the Lord God, the Lord God described to Moses and showed Moses the likeness of everything the Israelites were to make, including the altar of burnt offering, and the altar of incense, and the holy incense. The Lord God told Moses that only Aaron, and Aaron sons, and the sons born to their descendants were to serve the Lord God as priests, and the Lord God described some of the duties that were only to be performed by the priests. During the 40-year journey to Canaan, the Promised Land, Miriam the prophetess died and was buried in Kadesh, into the desert wilderness of Zin. Upon Mount Hor, 123-year-old Aaron the high priest died. While in Kadesh, Moses sought permission from the Edomite king to pass through their land, and the Edomite king refused, and Moses made another plea, and the Edomite king refused again, and the Edomites prepared to show their strength. The Israelites did not force their might upon the Edomites, according to the command of the Lord God, and journeyed away from the road that comes up through Elath and Ezion-geber. When Moses went upon Mount Nebo, the Lord God showed Moses the Promised Land and 120-year-old Moses the prophet died and was divinely buried. Joshua, Moses' aide and successor from the tribe of Ephraim, led the Israelites across the divinely parted Jordan River and onto the land that the Lord God promised to give to Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, and their descendants. While reigning, David conquered the Edomites and their land. Solomon, a son born to David and Bathsheba, was the 3rd king to rule over all of the Israelites. In Gibeon, when Solomon was asleep after sacrificing  1,000 burnt offerings, the Lord God appeared to Solomon in a dream and told Solomon to make a request. Solomon asked the Lord God to give him an understanding heart, wisdom and knowledge. The Lord God was pleased with Solomon's request and gave Solomon a wise and an understanding heart, and unparalleled riches, wealth, and honor, and the possibility of long life. King Hiram (Huram) was the ruler of Tyre, a prominent Phoenician seaport city. When David reigned, Hiram provided David with timber and craftsmen, and Hiram's workers built David a palace. After Solomon began to reign, Solomon and Hiram sent messages to each other, and Hiram sent servants to Solomon, and agreed to provide Solomon with the timber, craftsmen, servants, gold, and specific supplies. The temple of the Lord was built in Jerusalem, and a palace was built for Solomon and a palace was built for Solomon's wife, the daughter of Pharaoh. Moreover, Solomon built and renovated walls, and cities, and established a navy, and Hiram sent skilled seamen to Solomon. Eventually, Solomon was married to 700 idol worshiping princesses from foreign kingdoms, and in the latter portion of Solomon's 40-year reign, Solomon became an idolater. Over 900 years after Rehoboam, the son born to Solomon and Naamah, became the 4th king to rule over all of the Israelites, Jesus the Christ, the Son of God, was born.
