...................................................................LET US LEARN TOGETHER WHAT IS GOOD. Job 34:4b(NIV)................................................................Some people see the Bible as a long and boring book filled with incidents and events from the lives of ancient people who probably never existed. The biblical stories are seen as fables. Notably, Romans 15:4 reveals: For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope.(KJV) In this blog, many of the situations and conversations found in the divinely inspired Scriptures of the Holy Bible have been placed in categories that correspond to expressive sayings and phrases. Reference information, background information and links connecting the people and places are given to help you find a place to begin reading the Bible for yourself.

Not at All

From a letter written by Peter (Simon)
to believers dispersed throughout Asia Minor:

Servants, be subject to your masters with all fear; not only to the good and gentle, but also to the froward. For this is thankworthy, if a man for conscience toward God endure grief, suffering wrongfully. For what glory is it, if, when ye be buffeted for your faults, ye shall take it patiently? but if, when ye do well, and suffer for it, ye take it patiently, this is acceptable with God. For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps: Who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth: Who, when he was reviled, reviled not again; when he suffered, he threatened not; but committed himself to him that judgeth righteously: Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed. For ye were as sheep going astray; but are now returned unto the Shepherd and Bishop of your souls.-1 Peter 2:18-25***Simon Peter was an Israelite, a descendant of Abraham (Abram the Hebrew) and Sarah (Sarai), Isaac and Rebekah, and Isaac and Rebekah's youngest fraternal twin son Jacob (Israel). Approximately 30 years after Jesus the Christ, the Son of God, was conceived of the Holy Spirit in the womb of Mary, a virgin, and born into the tribe of Jacob's 4th born son Judah to Mary and her husband Joseph when Mary was a virgin, Jesus was baptized in the Jordan River by Mary's relative John the Baptist, from the tribe of Jacob's 3rd born son Levi. Jesus having prayed, the heavens tearing open, the Holy Spirit descended as a dove and lit upon Jesus. The Lord God in heaven audibly acknowledged his Son Jesus, and the Holy Spirit led Jesus into the desert wilderness. Jesus fasted 40 days and nights and was tempted. Afterwards, Jesus was tended to by angels, and Jesus went to the area near John the Baptist, and John the Baptist proclaimed Jesus to be the Lamb of God taking away the sin of the world, and testified that Jesus is the Son of God. In Galilee, Jesus told specific Israelite men, including Simon Peterto follow him, and Jesus began to preach, teach and perform miracles among the Israelites, the treasured and chosen people of the Lord God. Less than 3 1/2 years after Jesus was baptized, Jesus was betrayed by  Judas Iscariot the disciple and apostle, and Jesus was  arrested,  crucified, buried in a tomb, resurrected, seen by over 500 people, including the disciple and apostle Simon Peter, and returned to heaven. Simon Peter became a leader among those who believed Jesus to be the Christ, and stated the need to add another apostle to the group, and addressed the curious crowd on the day of Pentecost.  Simon Peter spoke truthful words to Ananias and Sapphira before their deaths, and Simon Peter received the revelation that the good news of Jesus the Christ was to be shared with Gentiles, people not born into the Israelite tribes. Simon Peter journeyed to teach the good news of Jesus the Christ, and was beaten, and imprisoned, and wrote divinely inspired letters to believers. The apostle Paul (Saul) was an Israelite from the tribe of Jacob's 12th and last son Benjamin. After Paul was baptized, he journeyed to teach the good news of Jesus the Christ, and was beaten and imprisoned, and wrote divinely inspired letters to believers. Paul wrote that slaves and bondservants were always to obey the orders given by their masters and perform all tasks as if performing them for the Lord. Peter's message to slaves and bondservants was similar to Paul's message and included an explanation about some of the suffering endured by Jesus the Christ.-Genesis 11:26-35:29, 1 Chronicles 1:1-34, 2:1-17, 3:1-24, 8:1-40, 9:35-44, Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, Acts, Romans, 1 Corinthians, 2 Corinthians, Galatians, Ephesians, Philippians, Colossians, 1 Thessalonians, 2 Thessalonians, 1 Timothy, 2 Timothy, Titus, Philemon, 1 Peter, 2 Peter

Them, too

Paul and Timotheus, the servants of Jesus Christ, To all the saints in Christ Jesus which are at Philippi, with the bishops and deacons: Grace be unto you, and peace, from God our Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ. I thank my God upon every remembrance of you, Always in every prayer of mine for you all making request with joy, For your fellowship in the gospel from the first day until now; Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ: Even as it is meet for me to think this of you all, because I have you in my heart; inasmuch as both in my bonds, and in the defense and confirmation of the gospel, ye all are partakers of my grace. For God is my record, how greatly I long after you all in the bowels of Jesus Christ. And this I pray, that your love may abound yet more and more in knowledge and in all judgment; That ye may approve things that are excellent; that ye may be sincere and without offence till the day of Christ; Being filled with the fruits of righteousness, which are by Jesus Christ unto the glory and praise of God.-Philippians 1:1-11***The divinely inspired words that the  apostle Paul (Saul) wrote to Titus reveal that bishops and those who want to become bishops must be men whose lives exist of specific characteristics. They must be without fault, hospitable, sober, holy, righteous, encouraging, instructive, married to only 1 wife, self-controlled, not self-willed or quick-tempered, not greedy for sordid money, and their children must be faithful and well-behaved and not under any accusation. Paul's letter to Timothy (Timotheus)  reveals that bishops and potential bishops must be without fault, married to only 1 wife, sober, self-controlled, respectable, hospitable, instructive, gentle, peaceable, and not a newcomer or moneygrubber, managers of their households, with their children in obedience to them. Paul wrote that deacons must be truthful, reverential, and sober, respected by their family, and cannot have a heart set on ill-gotten gains. In a letter sent by Paul, with Timothy, to believers in Philippi, bishops and deacons were specifically noted in the address.-Genesis 11:26-35:29, 1 Chronicles 1:1-34, 2:1-17, 3:1-24, Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, Acts 1:1-26, 6:1-8:4, 9:1-31, 11:19-28:31, Philippians, 1 Timothy

From This and This to That

The words that Moses spoke to his fellow Israelites,
and the actions of King Solomon, the third king to
rule over all of the Israelites in the Promised Land:

FROM THIS:

These are the statutes and judgments which ye shall observe to do in the land, which the LORD God of thy fathers giveth thee to possess it, all the days that ye live upon the earth. Ye shall utterly destroy all the places, wherein the nations which ye shall possess served their gods, upon the high mountains, and upon the hills, and under every green tree: And ye shall overthrow their altars, and break their pillars, and burn their groves with fire; and ye shall hew down the graven images of their gods, and destroy the names of them out of that place. Ye shall not do so unto the LORD your God. But unto the place which the LORD your God shall choose out of all your tribes to put his name there, even unto his habitation shall ye seek, and thither thou shalt come: And thither ye shall bring your burnt offerings, and your sacrifices, and your tithes, and heave offerings of you hand, and your vows, and you freewill offerings, and the firstlings of your herds and of your flocks: And there ye shall eat before the LORD your God, and ye shall rejoice in all that ye put your hand unto, ye and your households, wherein the LORD thy God hath blessed thee. Ye shall not do after all the things that we do here this day, every man whatsoever is right in his own eyes.-Deuteronomy 12:1-8

and THIS:

Thus Solomon finished the house of the LORD, and the king's house: and all that came into Solomon's heart to make in the house of the LORD, and in his own house, he prosperously effected. And the LORD appeared to Solomon by night, and said unto him, I have heard thy prayer, and have chosen this place to myself for an house of sacrifice. If I shut up heaven that there be no rain, or if I command the locusts to devour the land, or if I send pestilence among my people; If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land. Now mine eyes shall be open, and mine ears attent unto the prayer that is made in this place. For now have I chosen and sanctified this house, that my name may be there for ever: and mine eyes and mine heart shall be there perpetually. And as for thee, if thou wilt walk before me, as David thy father walked, and do according to all that I have commanded thee, and shalt observe my statutes and my judgments; Then will I stablish the throne of thy kingdom, according as I have covenanted with David thy father, saying, There shall not fail thee a man to be ruler in Israel. But if ye turn away, and forsake my statutes and my commandments, which I have set before you, and shall go and serve other gods, and worship them; Then will I pluck them up by the roots of my land which I have given them; and this house, which I have sanctified for my name, will I cast out of my sight, and will make it to be a proverb and a byword among all nations. And this house, which is high, shall be an astonishment to every one that passeth by it; so that he shall say, Why hath the LORD done thus unto this land, and unto this house? And it shall be answered, because they forsook the LORD God of their fathers, which brought them forth out of the land of Egypt, and laid hold on other gods, and worshipped them, and served them: therefore hath he brought all this evil upon them.-2 Chronicles 7:11-22

TO THAT:

But king Solomon loved many strange women, together with the daughter of Pharaoh, women of the Moabites, Ammonites, Edomites, Zidonians, and Hittites; Of the nations concerning which the LORD said unto the children of Israel, Ye shall not go in to them, neither shall they come in unto you: for surely they will turn away your heart after their gods: Solomon clave unto these in love. And he had seven hundred wives, princesses, and three hundred concubines: and his wives turned away his heart. For it came to pass, when Solomon was old, that his wives turned away his heart after other gods: and his heart was not perfect with the LORD his God, as was the heart of David his father. For Solomon went after Ashtoreth the goddess of the Zidonians, and after Milcom the abomination of the Ammonites. And Solomon did evil in the sight of the LORD, and went not fully after the LORD, as did David his father. Then did Solomon build an high place for Chemosh, the abomination of Moab, in the hill that is before Jerusalem, and for Molech, the abomination of the children of Ammon. And likewise did he for all his strange wives, which burnt incense and sacrificed unto their gods. And the LORD was angry with Solomon, because his heart was turned from the LORD God of Israel, which had appeared unto him twice, And had commanded him concerning this thing, that he should not go after other gods: but he kept not that which the LORD commanded. Wherefore the LORD said unto Solomon, Forasmuch as this is done of thee, and thou hast not kept my covenant and my statutes, which I have commanded thee, I will surely rend the kingdom from thee, and will give it to thy servant. Notwithstanding in thy days I will not do it for David thy father's sake: but I will rend it out of the hand of thy son. Howbeit I will not rend away all the kingdom; but will give one tribe to thy son for David my servant's sake, and for Jerusalem's sake which I have chosen.-1 Kings 11:1-13

Like Father, Like Son

King Jehoshaphat

And Jehoshaphat the son of Asa began to reign over Judah in the fourth year of Ahab king of Israel. Jehoshaphat was thirty and five years old when he began to reign and he reigned twenty and five years in Jerusalem. And his mother's name was Azubah the daughter of Shilhi. And he walked in all the ways of Asa his father; he turned not aside from it, doing that which was right in the eyes of the LORD: nevertheless the high places were not taken away; for the people offered and burnt incense yet in the high places. And Jehoshaphat made peace with the king of Israel. Now the rest of the acts of Jehoshaphat, and his might that he shewed, and how he warred, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?
-1 Kings 22:41-45

    *********************************************

King Jotham

In the second year of Pekah the son of Remaliah king of Israel began Jotham the son of Uzziah king of Judah to reign. Five and twenty years old was he when he began to reign, and he reigned sixteen years in Jerusalem. And his mother's name was Jerusha, the daughter of Zadok. And he did that which was right in the sight of the LORD: he did according to all that his father Uzziah had done. Howbeit the high places were not removed: the people sacrificed and burned incense still in the high places. He built the higher gate of the house of the LORD. Now the rest of the acts of Jotham, and all that he did, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the king of Judah?-2 Kings 15:32-36

 Background Information:
When the Israelites began living on the Promised Land, they lived as a united nation. However, the Israelites from the tribe of Reuben and the tribe of Gad and 1/2 of the Israelites from the tribe of Manasseh lived on the other side of the Jordan River, according to their request. Saul was from the tribe of Benjamin, descended from Abraham (Abram the Hebrew) and Sarah (Sarai), Isaac and Rebekah,  Jacob (Israel) and his 2nd wife Rachel, and Jacob and Rachel's 2nd and last son Benjamin. Saul was the 1st king to rule over the Israelites in the Promised Land, the land that the Lord God promised to give to Abraham, and Isaac, and to Jacob, and their descendants.  At least twice, Saul did not obey the commands of the Lord God. While Saul reigned, the Lord God sent Samuel, the priest, prophet and judge from the tribe of Levi, to anoint David to reign as king. David was from the tribe of Judah, descended from Jacob and his 1st wife Leah, and Jacob and Leah's 4th born son Judah. Levi was Jacob and Leah's 3rd born son. David initially served as a musician and an armor-bearer for Saul. After David killed and beheaded Goliath the gigantic Philistine, David and Jonathan, Saul's son, made a covenant, and the Israelite women sang of David higher than they sang of Saul. Saul was angry, and wanted to kill David, and became afraid of David, and sent David on missions to get killed, and commanded others, including Jonathan, to kill David. Saul's daughter Michal was married to David and helped David escape from their home. After the Philistines killed Jonathan and his brothers Malchishua and Abinadab (Ishui?), and Saul's self-inflicted death on the same battlefield, men from the tribe of Judah anointed 30-year-old David and David began to reign only over the tribe of Judah.  Saul's son Ishbosheth (Eshbaal) reigned over the other Israelite tribes. After Ishbosheth was murderedthe Israelite elders went to David and David made a covenant with them. The elders anointed 37-year-old David and David became the 2nd king to rule over all of the Israelites. During David's reign, there was a split among the Israelites when Absalom, the son born to David and Maacah, had himself proclaimed king. A minor division occurred when some Israelites followed the words spoken by Sheba, from the tribe of Benjamin. A potential split was about to occur before Solomon, the 2nd child born to David and Bathsheba, became the 3rd king to rule over all of the Israelites. Rehoboam, the son born to Solomon and Naamah, was the 4th king to reign. After Rehoboam gave a specific answer, the Israelites split into 2 kingdoms, according to the will of the Lord God, due to the idolatry and other wickedness of Solomon. Judah was the nation in the south and consisted of the tribe of Judah and the tribe of Benjamin. Jerusalem was the royal city and Rehoboam was the 1st king to reign. Israel was the northern nation and consisted of the other Israelite tribes. Samaria was the final royal city and Jeroboam, the son born to Nebat and Zeruah, was the 1st king to reign. Jeroboam established idolatry throughout the kingdom, and murderers and idolaters continuously ruled the northern nation. King Pekah was the 18th king to rule over all of the Israelites in the northern nation of Israel. During Pekah's 20-year reign, the Assyrians invaded the kingdom and King Tiglath-pileser, ruler of Assyria, began taking Israelites to Assyria. During the 9th year of the reign of King Hoshea, the 19th king to rule the northern nation, the Assyrians conquered Samaria, according to the will of the Lord God, due to the idolatry and other wickedness of the Israelites. In Judah, Rehoboam's grandson Asa, the 3rd king, and Asa's son Jehoshaphat, the 4th king, and Jehoshaphat's great-great-great-grandson Uzziah (Azariah), the 9th king, and Uzziah's son Jotham, the 10th king, and Jotham's grandson Hezekiah, the 12th king, and Hezekiah's great-grandson Josiah, the 15th king, were the only rulers who only worshiped the Lord God and never worshiped idols. Moreover, Asa and Uzziah were the only kings whose son and successor only worshiped the Lord God and never worshiped idols. Many of the high places, however, the constructed places raised by some for the worship of the Lord God and raised by others for idol worship, remained throughout the reigns of Asa, Jehoshaphat, Uzziah, and Jotham. Jehoiakim (Eliakim), the son born to Josiah and Zebudah, was the 17th king to rule Judah. During Jehoiakim's 11-year reign, the Babylonians (Chaldeans) invaded Judah and Jerusalem and King Nebuchadnezzar, ruler of Babylon, began looting the temple of the Lord. Jehoiachin (Jeconiah/Coniah), the son born to Jehoiakim and Nehushta, was the 18th king to rule Judah. During Jehoiachin's 3-month reign, the Babylonians took more prominent Israelites, including Jehoiachin, his wives and mother, to Babylon. Zedekiah (Mattaniah), the son born to Josiah and Hamutal, was the 19th king to rule Judah. During the 11th year of Zedekiah's reign, the Babylonians conquered Jerusalem, according to the will of the Lord God, due to the idolatry and other wickedness of the Israelites.  Over 500 years after Israelites began returning to Judah and Jerusalem, Jesus the Christ, the Son of God, was born. Jesus was conceived of the Holy Spirit in the womb of Mary, a virgin, and Jesus was born into the tribe of Judah to Mary and her husband Joseph when Mary was a virgin. Before Jesus was born to Joseph and Mary, and after Jesus was betrayed, arrested, crucified, buried in a tomb, resurrectedseen by over 500 people, and returned to heaven less than 33 1/2 years after he was born, the Roman Empire was ruling the land whereupon the kingdoms of the Israelites previously stood.-Genesis 11:26-50:26, Exodus, Leviticus 26:1-46, Numbers 20:1-29, 27:12-23, Deuteronomy 31:1-30, 32:44-52, 34:1-12, Joshua 1:1-4:24, 23:1-24:33, Judges 1:1-2:23, 1 Samuel 1:1-3:21, 8:1-31:13, 2 Samuel, 1 Kings, 2 Kings, 1 Chronicles 1:1-34, 2:1-17, 3:1-24, 6:1-81, 8:1-40, 9:35-29:30, 2 Chronicles, Ezra, Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, Acts 1:1-26

Walk This Way

From a letter written by the apostle Paul
to believers in Ephesus and everywhere:

Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right. Honour thy father and mother; (which is the first commandment with promise;) That it may be well with thee, and thou mayest live long on the earth. And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord. Servants, be obedient to them that are your masters according to the flesh, with fear and trembling, in singleness of your heart, as unto Christ; Not with eyeservice, as menpleasers; but as the servants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart; With good will doing service, as to the Lord, and not to men; Knowing that whatsoever good thing any man doeth, the same shall he receive of the Lord, whether he be bond or free. And, ye masters, do the same things unto them, forbearing threatening: knowing that your Master also is in heaven; neither is their respect of persons with him.-Ephesians 6:1-9***Jesus the Christ, the Son of God, was conceived of the Holy Spirit in the womb of Mary, a virgin, and Jesus was born into the tribe of Judah to Mary and her husband Joseph when Mary was a virgin. Over 1,500 years before Jesus was born to Joseph and Mary, Miriam her younger brothers Aaron and Moses were born into the tribe of Levi, descended from Jacob and his 1st wife Leah, and Jacob and Leah's 3rd born son Levi. Judah was Jacob and Leah's 4th born son. Miriam, Aaron and Moses were born when the Israelites were enslaved in Egypt. However, Moses lived as the son of the daughter of Pharaoh, the king of Egypt. When Moses was 40 years old, he killed an Egyptian and hid the corpse. After the murder was mentioned to Moses, and Pharaoh wanted to kill Moses, Moses hurried away and began living in Midian. Moses was married to Zipporah, a Midianite woman, and Gershom and Eliezer were born to Moses and Zipporah. When Moses was 80 years old, the Lord God spoke to Moses and sent Moses and 83-year-old Aaron to speak to the Israelite elders and Pharaoh. After the Lord God brought the 10th and final plague upon Pharaoh and Egypt, Moses and Aaron led the Israelites, and those with them, away from Egypt, across the divinely parted Red Sea, and into the desert wilderness of Shur. In the desert wilderness of Sinai, in the region of Mount Sinai, the Lord God gave Moses commands for consecrating the Israelites. After the Israelites were consecrated, the Lord God descended upon Mount Sinai in fire, and the Israelites heard the voice of the Lord God proclaim the Ten Commandments to them. The commandment to honor one's parents was the 5th commandment that the Lord God proclaimed. During the 40-year journey to Canaan, the Promised Land, Miriam died and was buried in Kadesh, in the desert wilderness of Zin. Upon Mount Hor, 123-year-old Aaron died. When Moses went upon Mount Nebo, the Lord God showed Moses the Promised Land, and 120-year-old Moses died and was divinely buried. Joshua, Moses' successor from the tribe of Ephraim, led the Israelites across the divinely parted Jordan River and onto the land that the Lord God promised to give to Abraham, and Isaac, and to Jacob, and their descendants. Over 1,300 years after 110-year-old Joshua died and was buried in his tribe's portion of the Promised Land, Jesus the Christ and John the Baptist were born. John the Baptist was born into the tribe of Levi to Zechariah (Zacharias) the priest and his wife Elizabeth (Elisabeth), Mary's relative. Approximately 30 years after John the Baptist and Jesus the Christ were born, Jesus was baptized in the Jordan River by John the Baptist. Afterwards, Jesus was tended to by angels, and Jesus went to the area near John the Baptist, and John the Baptist proclaimed Jesus to be the Lamb of God taking away the sin of the world. In Galilee, Jesus told specific Israelite men to follow him, and Jesus began to preach, teach and perform miracles among the Israelites, the treasured and chosen people of the Lord God. Less than 3 1/2 years after Jesus was baptized, Jesus was betrayed by Judas Iscariot, the disciple and apostle, and Jesus was arrested, crucified, buried in a tomb, resurrected, seen by over 500 people, and returned to heaven. The apostle Paul (Saul) was an Israelite from the tribe of Benjamin, descended from Jacob and his 2nd wife Rachel, and Jacob and Rachel's 2nd and last son Benjamin. In a divinely inspired letter Paul sent to the people in Ephesus who believed Jesus to be the Christ, Paul made a reference to the commandment and the promise attached.-Genesis 11:26-50:26, Exodus, Deuteronomy 4:1-5:33, 31:1-30, 32:44-52, 34:1-12,Joshua 1:1-4:24, 1 Chronicles 1:1-34, 2:1-17, 6:1-81, Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, Acts 1:1-26, 6:1-8:4, 9:1-31, 11:19-28:31, Romans 11:1-36, 2 Corinthians 11:1-33, Ephesians, Philippians 3:1-21

This is the inheritance of the children of Benjamin according to their families.-Joshua 18:21-28***The Israelites in the tribe of Benjamin descended from Abraham (Abram the Hebrew) and Sarah (Sarai), Isaac and Rebekah, Jacob (Israel) and his 2nd wife Rachel, and Jacob and Rachel's 2nd and last son Benjamin. Joseph was Jacob and Rachel's firstborn son. When Joseph was at least 17 years old, his brothers sold him to merchants traveling to Egypt and led Jacob to believe that Joseph was killed by a wild animal. Potiphar, an Egyptian official, bought Joseph from the merchants, and Joseph became the top servant in Potiphar's home. After Potiphar's wife made a false accusation, Potiphar put Joseph in prison. At least 2 years after Joseph explained the meaning to a dream to Pharaoh's imprisoned cupbearer, and explained the meaning of a dream to Pharaoh's imprisoned baker, Joseph explained the meaning of a dream to Pharaoh, and Pharaoh proclaimed Joseph second-in-command. When Jacob was 130 years old, he moved with his family from Canaan to Egypt. In Egypt, Jacob proclaimed Manasseh and Ephraim, the sons born to Joseph and his wife Asenath, to be his own sons. Thus, the tribe of Joseph became 2 tribes, the tribe of Manasseh and the tribe of Ephraim. Sometime after 147-year-old Jacob died in Egypt and Jacob's family buried his body in Canaan, and 110-year-old Joseph and his siblings were dead, their descendants the Israelites were enslaved in Egypt. Miriam and her younger brothers Aaron and Moses were born into the tribe of Levi, descended from Jacob and his 1st wife Leah, and Jacob and Leah's 3rd born son Levi. When Moses was 80 years old and Aaron was 83, they led the Israelites away from Egypt, across the divinely parted Red Sea, and into the desert wilderness of Shur, according to the commands of the Lord God. During the 40-year journey to Canaan, the Promised Land, Miriam died and was buried in Kadesh, in the desert wilderness of Zin. Upon Mount Hor, 123-year-old Aaron died. Shortly thereafter, the Lord God told Moses that Aaron's son and successor Eleazar the priest, and Joshua, Moses' successor from the tribe of Ephraim, and the tribal leaders specified were to assign portions of the Promised Land to each tribe. Larger tribes were to be given larger land portions and smaller tribes were to be given smaller portions, and the location of each tribe's land was to be determined by the casting of lots. When Moses went upon Mount Nebo, the Lord God showed Moses the Promised Land, and 120-year-old Moses died and was divinely buried. Joshua led the Israelites across the divinely parted Jordan River and onto the land inhabited by idolaters that the Lord God promised to give to Abraham, and Isaac, and to Jacob, and their descendants. Jericho was the 1st city the Israelites attacked and defeated in the Promised Land. The divinely inspired Scriptures of the Holy Bible reveal that Jericho was within the portion of the Promised Land allotted to the tribe of Benjamin. Over 1,300 years after 110-year-old Joshua died and was buried in his tribe's portion of the Promised Land, Jesus the Christ, the Son of God, was born. Jesus was conceived of the Holy Spirit in the womb of Mary, a virgin, and Jesus was born in Bethlehem, near the place wherein Benjamin was born and Rachel died, into the tribe of Jacob and Leah's 4th born son Judah to Mary and her husband Joseph when Mary was a virgin. Approximately 30 years after Jesus was born to Joseph and Mary, Jesus was baptized in the Jordan River by Mary's relative John the Baptist, from the tribe of Levi. Jesus journeyed with his 12 disciples and apostles to Jericho, and through Jericho, and near Jericho, and away from Jericho, and Jesus mentioned Jericho in a parable.-Genesis 11:26-50:26, Exodus, Leviticus 8:1-10:19, Numbers 3:1-4:49, 8:1-26, 18:1-32, 20:1-29, 26:52-65, 27:12-23, 33:50-35:34, Deuteronomy 18:1-22, 31:1-30, 32:44-52, 34:1-12, Joshua, Judges 1:1-2:23, 1 Chronicles 1:1-34, 2:1-17, 3:1-24, 6:1-81, 7:20-29, Proverbs 16:33, Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, Acts 1:1-26
