The death of Ahithophel

And when Ahithophel saw that his counsel was not followed, he saddled his ass, and arose, and gat him home to his house, to his city, and put his household in order, and hanged himself, and died, and was buried in the sepulchre of his father.-2 Samuel 17:23***Forty years after Moses and his older brother Aaron led their fellow Israelites away from Egyptian slavery, across the divinely parted Red Sea, into the desert wilderness of Shur, and the desert wilderness of Sin, and the desert wilderness of Sinai, 123-year-old Aaron the high priest died upon Mount Hor, and Moses went upon Mount Nebo, according to the commands of the Lord God. The Lord God showed Moses the Promised Land, and 120-year-old Moses the prophet died, and was divinely buried. Joshua was Moses' aide and successor from the tribe of Ephraim, descended from Abraham (Abram the Hebrew) and Sarah (Sarai), Isaac and Rebekah, Jacob (Israel) and his 2nd wife Rachel, their firstborn son Joseph and his wife Asenath, and Joseph and Asenath's 2nd born son Ephraim, whom Jacob proclaimed to be his own son. The Lord God spoke to Joshua, and Joshua sent 2 spies to Canaan, the Promised Land, and Rahab hid the spies, and the spies returned, and Joshua led the Israelites across the divinely parted Jordan River and onto the land that the Lord God promised to give to Abraham, and Isaac, and to Jacob, and their descendants. The Israelites, led by Joshua, destroyed Jericho, and Ai, and other kingdoms and kings before Joshua, and Aaron's son and successor Eleazar, and the 10 tribal leaders specified by the Lord God, began allotting each tribe its portion of the Promised Land, according to the commands that the Lord God gave Moses. Giloh was in the portion of the Promised Land allotted to the tribe of Judah, the Israelites descended from Jacob and his 1st wife Leah and their 4th born son Judah. Aaron and Moses were from the tribe of Jacob and Leah's 3rd born son Levi. Over 300 years after 110-year-old Joshua died, and was buried in his tribe's portion of the Promised Land, Saul, from the tribe of Jacob and Rachel's 2nd and last son Benjamin, became the 1st king to reign. David, from the tribe of Judah, was the 2nd king to rule over all of the Israelites. Ahithophel was from Giloh, and was identified as a Gilonite, and served as David's counselor. Amnon was the son born to David and Ahinoam. Absalom and Tamar were the children born to David and Maacah (Maachah), a Syrian (Aramean) princess from Geshur. While David reigned, Amnon raped Tamar, and Absalom planned and commanded Amnon's death, and Absalom bolted to Geshur. During Absalom's 3rd year in Geshur, his cousin Joab, the commander of David's army, developed a plan and received permission from David to bring Absalom home to Jerusalem. Throughout the next 2 years, David refused to see Absalom. Absalom sent for Joab twice, and twice Joab did not meet with Absalom. Absalom's servants burned Joab's field, according to Absalom's command, and Joab went to Absalom, and Joab and Absalom spoke with each other, and Joab went to David, and Absalom was summoned and went to David. Sometime thereafter, Absalom worked to win the Israelites to his side, and Absalom had himself proclaimed king. Ahithophel united with Absalom, and David and those loyal to David left Jerusalem. Hushai the Archite was loyal to David and was possibly from Archi, in the portion of the Promised Land allotted to the tribe of Ephraim. When David learned that Ahithophel was conspiring with Absalom, David prayed to the Lord God and asked the Lord God to turn Ahithophel's counsel into foolishness. David told Hushai to pretend to be loyal to Absalom, thereby allowing Hushai the opportunity to defeat Ahithophel's advice. The divinely inspired Scriptures of the Holy Bible reveal that when Absalom asked Ahithophel for advice, Ahithophel's suggestion involved David's concubines. Absalom obeyed Ahithophel's instructions, and Ahithophel wanted Absalom's permission to choose 12,000 men and capture and kill David. Absalom and the elders found Ahithophel's advice agreeable. Hushai suggested a different plan when Absalom asked to hear his idea. Absalom and those with Absalom thought that Hushai's advice was better. In Mahanaim, David gave Ittai the Gittite, and Joab, and Joab's brother Abishai, a command regarding Absalom. Joab disobeyed David's command and thrust 3 weapons into Absalom's body, and Joab's 10 armor-bearers surrounded and attacked Absalom, and Absalom was dead. At least 900 years after Solomon, a son born to David and Bathsheba, became the 3rd king to rule over all of the Israelites, and 70-year-old David died, Jesus the Christ, the Son of God, was born. During the 4th year of his 40-year reign, Solomon began building the temple of the Lord, and in the 11th year, workers finished building the temple in Jerusalem. Rehoboam, the son born to Solomon and Naamah, was the 4th king to rule over all of the Israelites. After Rehoboam gave a specific answer, the Israelites split into 2 kingdoms, according to the will of the Lord God, due to the idolatry and other wickedness of Solomon. Judah was the nation in the south, Jerusalem was the royal city and Rehoboam was the 1st king to reign. Israel was the northern nation, Samaria was the final royal city and Jeroboam, the son born to Nebat and Zeruah, was the 1st king to reign. Rehoboam's great-great-great-great-great-great-grandson Uzziah (Azariah) was the 9th king to rule Judah. Jotham, the son born to Uzziah and Jerushah (Jerusha), was the 10th king. Jotham's son Ahaz was the 11th king, and Hezekiah, the son born to Ahaz and Abi (Abijah) was the 12th king to rule Judah. When Uzziah, Jotham, Ahaz, and Hezekiah reigned, Isaiah the prophet received revelations from the Lord God. Pekah was the 18th king to rule over all of the Israelites in the northern nation of Israel. During Pekah's 20-year reign, the Assyrians invaded the kingdom and King Tiglath-pileser, ruler of Assyria, began taking Israelites captive. Hoshea was the 19th king to rule over all of the Israelites in the northern nation of Israel. Hezekiah began ruling Judah during the 3rd year of Hoshea's reign. During the 9th year of Hoshea's reign, the Assyrians conquered Samaria, according to the will of the Lord God, due to the idolatry and other wickedness of the Israelites, and during the 14th year of Hezekiah's 29-year reign, King Sennacherib, ruler of Assyria, conquered fortified cities throughout Judah. Hezekiah sent an apologetic message to Sennacherib and offered to pay any amount Sennacherib requested. Sennacherib commanded Hezekiah to give him over 1,800 pounds of silver and over 900 pounds of gold. Hezekiah took the silver from the temple and the palace, and stripped the gold from the doors and pillars of the temple. Sometime thereafter, Sennacherib sent Rabshakeh and other Assyrians with an army to Jerusalem and Rabshakeh proclaimed Sennacherib's message to Hezekiah's men and the other Israelites. Hezekiah's men repeated the message to Hezekiah, and Hezekiah sent his men to Isaiah, and Isaiah spoke the words of the Lord God to Hezekiah's men. Meanwhile, Rabshakeh learned about the movements of the Ethiopians, and the Assyrians were sent back to Hezekiah. When Hezekiah read the written message from Sennacherib, he went to the temple, spread the written message before the Lord God, and prayed to the Lord God. Isaiah sent a message from the Lord God to Hezekiah, including details about the sign Hezekiah would see. During the night, the angel of the Lord caused 185,000 Assyrians to die. In Nineveh, Assyria, Sennacherib was killed by his sons Adrammelech and Sharezer. The divinely inspired Scriptures of the Holy Bible reveal that when Hezekiah was deathly ill, Isaiah went to Hezekiah. Manasseh, the son born to Hezekiah and Hephzibah, was the 13th king to rule Judah. During Manasseh's 55-year reign, the Assyrians bound Manasseh and took Manasseh to Babylon, a kingdom under Babylonian control. In Babylon, Manasseh humbled himself before the Lord God, and prayed to the Lord God, and the Lord God brought Manasseh to Jerusalem. Manasseh's great-grandson Jehoiakim (Eliakim) was the 17th king to rule Judah. During Jehoiakim's 11-year reign, the Babylonians (Chaldeans) invaded Judah and Jerusalem and King Nebuchadnezzar, ruler of Babylon, began looting the temple of the Lord. Jehoiachin (Jeconiah/Coniah), the son born to Jehoiakim and Nehushta, was the 18th king to rule Judah. During Jehoiachin's 3-month reign, the Babylonians took more prominent Israelites, including Jechoiachin, his wives and mother, to Babylon. During the 11th year of the reign of Jehoiakim's brother Zedekiah (Mattaniah), the 19th king to rule Judah, the Babylonians conquered Jerusalem, according to the will of the Lord God, due to the idolatry and other wickedness of the Israelites. Over 500 years after Israelites began returning to Judah and Jerusalem, John the Baptist and Jesus the Christ, the Son of God, were born. John the Baptist was born into the tribe of Levi to Zechariah (Zacharias) the priest and his wife Elizabeth (Elisabeth). Judah, Reuben, Simeon, Levi, Issachar, Zebulun, and daughter Dinah were born to Jacob and Leah. Dan and Naphtali were born to Jacob and Bilhah, Rachel's maidservant. Over 1,800 years after 147-year-old Jacob died in Egypt, and Jacob's family buried his body in Canaan, the angel Gabriel appeared to elderly, childless Zechariah (Zacharias) the priest and told Zechariah that his prayer was heard, and told him about the conception, birth and purpose of the son who would be born to Zechariah and his wife Elizabeth (Elisabeth). The angel Gabriel told Zechariah to name the child John, and said the birth of John was going to cause rejoicing and gladness, and John would be great in the eyes of the Lord, and would be filled with the Holy Spirit while in Elizabeth's womb, and would bring many Israelites back to the Lord, and prepare people for the Lord. During the 6th month that elderly Elizabeth was carrying John the Baptist in her womb, the Lord God sent the angel Gabriel to Elizabeth's relative Mary, a virgin. The angel Gabriel said Mary was favored with grace, and the Lord was with Mary, and Mary was blessed among women. The angel Gabriel told Mary not to fear, and said Mary had favor with the Lord God, and Mary would give birth to a Son, and Mary was to name the Son Jesus, and Jesus, the Son of the Highest (the Most High), would be conceived of the Holy Spirit in Mary's womb. The angel Gabriel also told Mary about the baby boy in Elizabeth's womb. When Mary visited Elizabeth, John the Baptist, the baby in Elizabeth's womb, leaped when Elizabeth heard Mary's voice, and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit, and proclaimed that Mary was blessed among women, and proclaimed the blessing of the fruit of Mary's womb. Mary spoke humbly and reverently, and spoke of herself and said that all the generations would count her blessed. Joseph was the craftsman pledged to wed Mary. After Jesus was conceived of the Holy Spirit in Mary's womb when Mary was a virgin, an angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph when Joseph was asleep and told Joseph, in a dream, not to be afraid to receive Mary as his wife, and explained that the child in Mary's womb was conceived of the Holy Spirit, and Joseph was to name the Son Jesus, and Jesus will save his people from their sins. Months after John the Baptist was born into the tribe of Levi to Zechariah and Elizabeth, Jesus, the Christ, was born in Bethlehem to Mary and her husband Joseph when Mary was a virgin. Joseph of Arimathea was a secret disciple of Jesus, and Nicodemus was a Pharisee who secretly went to see Jesus. A Song Sung

Deborah and Barak, after Joshua led his 

fellow Israelites across the divinely parted 

Jordan River and onto the Promised Land, and 

after Othniel, Ehud and Shamgar were judges, and

after the Israelites battled Sisera, army commander

for Canaanite King Jabin, and Jael killed Sisera:

Then sang Deborah and Barak the son of Abinoam on that day, saying, Praise ye the LORD for the avenging of Israel, when the people willingly offered themselves. Hear, O ye kings; give ear, O ye princes; I, even I, will sing unto the LORD; I will sing praise to the LORD God of Israel. LORD, when thou wentest out of Seir, when thou marchedst out of the field of Edom, the earth trembled, and the heavens dropped, the clouds also dropped water. In the days of Shamgar the son of Anath, in the days of Jael, the highways were unoccupied, and the travellers walked through byways. The inhabitants of the villages ceased, they ceased in Israel, until that I Deborah arose, that I arose a mother in Israel. They chose new gods; then was war in the gates: was there a shield or spear seen among forty thousand in Israel? My heart is toward the governors of Israel, that offered themselves willingly among the people. Bless ye the LORD. Speak, ye that ride on white asses, ye that sit in judgment, and walk by the way. Then he made him that remaineth have dominion over the nobles among the people: the LORD made me have dominion over the mighty. Out of Ephraim was there a root of them against Amalek; after thee, Benjamin, among thy people; out of Machir came down governors, and out of Zebulun they that handle the pen of the writer. Zebulun and Naphtali were a people that jeoparded their lives unto the death in the high places of the field. The kings came and fought, then fought the kings of Canaan in Taanach by the waters of Megiddo; they took no gain of money. They fought from heaven; the stars in their courses fought against Sisera. The river of Kishon swept them away, that ancient river, the river Kishon. O my soul, thou hast trodden down strength. Then were the horsehoofs broken by the means of the pransings, the pransings of their mighty ones. Curse ye Meroz, said the angel of the LORD, curse ye bitterly the inhabitants thereof; because they came not to the help of the LORD, to the help of the LORD against the mighty.-Judges 5:13-23

Blessed above women shall Jael the wife of Heber the Kenite be, blessed shall she be above women in the tent. He asked water, and she gave him milk; she brought forth butter in a lordly dish. She put her hand to the nail, and her right hand to the workmen's hammer; and with the hammer she smote Sisera, she smote off his head, when she had pierced and stricken through his temples. At her feet he bowed, he fell, he lay down: at her feet he bowed, he fell: where he bowed, there he fell down dead. The mother of Sisera looked out at a window, and cried through the lattice, Why is his chariot so long in coming? why tarry the wheels of his chariots? Her wise ladies answered her, yea, she returned answer to herself, Have they not sped? have they not divided the prey; to every man a damsel or two; to Sisera a prey of divers colours, a prey of divers colours of needlework, of divers colours of needlework on both sides, meet for the necks of them that take the spoil? Always and Forever

Psalm 104 consists of 35 verses,

The trees of the LORD are full of sap; the cedars of Lebanon, which he hath planted; Where the birds make their nests: as for the stork, the fir trees are her house. The high hills are a refuge for the wild goats; and the rocks for the conies. He appointed the moon for seasons: the sun knoweth his going down. Thou makest darkness, and it is night: wherein all the beasts of the forest do creep forth. The young lions roar after their prey, and seek their meat from God. The sun ariseth, they gather themselves together, and lay them down in their dens. Man goeth forth unto his work and to his labour until the evening.-Psalm 104:16-23

O LORD, how manifold are thy works! in wisdom hast thou made them all: the earth is full of thy riches. Put Off and Put On

From a letter written by the apostle Paul (Saul),

with Timotheus (Timothy), to believers in 

Colossae, years after

Jesus the Christ, the Son of God,

was betrayed, arrested, crucified, buried

in a tomb, resurrected, seen by over 500

people, and returned to heaven:

But now ye also put off all these; anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication out of your mouth. Lie not one to another, seeing that ye have put off the old man with his deeds; And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him: Where there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcision, nor uncircumcision, Barbarian, Scythian, bond nor free: but Christ is all, and in all. Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering; Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye. And above all these things put on charity, which is the bond of perfectness. And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful.
