King Menahem

In the nine and thirtieth year of Azariah king of Judah began Menahem the son of Gadi to reign over Israel, and reigned ten years in Samaria. And he did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD; he departed not all his days from the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, who made Israel to sin. And Pul the king of Assyria came against the land: and Menahem gave Pul a thousand talents of silver, that his hand might be with him to confirm the kingdom in his hand. And Menahem exacted the money of Israel, even of all the mighty men of wealth, of each man fifty shekels of silver, to give to the king of Assyria. So the king of Assyria turned back, and stayed not there in the land.-2 Kings 15:17-20***Saul was the 1st king to rule over the Israelites in the Promised Land. Saul was from the tribe of Benjamin, descended from Abraham (Abram the Hebrew) and Sarah (Sarai), Isaac and Rebekah, Jacob (Israel) and his 2nd wife Rachel, and Jacob and Rachel's 2nd and last son Benjamin. David was from the tribe of Judah, descended from Jacob and his 1st wife Leah, and Jacob and Leah's 4th born son Judah. When David was 30 years old, he began to reign as king only over the tribe of Judah, and when David was 37 1/2 years old, he became the 2nd king to rule over all of the Israelites. Solomon, the 2nd child born to David and Bathsheba, was the 3rd king to rule over all of the Israelites. Rehoboam, the son born to Solomon and Naamah, was the 4th king to rule over all of the Israelites in the land that the Lord God promised to give to Abraham, and Isaac, and to Jacob, and their descendants.  After Rehoboam gave a specific answer, the Israelites split into 2 kingdoms, according to the will of the Lord God, due to the idolatry and other wickedness of Solomon. Judah was the nation in the south and consisted of the tribe of Judah and the tribe of Benjamin.  Jerusalem was the royal city and Rehoboam was the 1st king to reign. Israel was the northern nation and consisted of the other Israelite tribes. Samaria was the final royal city, and Jeroboam, the son born to Nebat and Zeruah, was the 1st king to reign. Murderers and idolaters successively ruled the northern nation of Israel. David's descendants ruled Judah, except for the 6-year reign of Athaliah.  Rehoboam's great-great-great-great-great-great-grandson Uzziah (Azariah), was the 9th king to rule Judah. Zechariah  (Zachariah) was the 14th king to rule over all of the Israelites in the northern nation of Israel. Shallum killed Zechariah and ruled for 1 month before Menahem killed Shallum. Menahem proclaimed himself king and gave silver to King Pul (Tiglath-pileser), ruler of Assyria. Pekah was the 18th king to rule over all of the Israelites in the northern nation of Israel. During Pekah's 20-year reign, the Assyrians invaded the kingdom, and Tiglath-pileser began taking Israelites captive. During the 9th year of the reign of King Hoshea, the 19th king to rule the northern nation of Israel, the Assyrians conquered Samaria, according to the will of the Lord God, due to the idolatry and other wickedness of the Israelites. Less than 125 years after Samaria was conquered, Uzziah's great-great-great-great-great-grandson Jehoiakim (Eliakim) became the 17th king to rule Judah. During Jehoiakim's 11-year reign, the Babylonians (Chaldeans), invaded Judah and Jerusalem and King Nebuchadnezzar, ruler of Babylon, began looting the temple of the Lord. Jehoiachin  (Jeconiah/Coniah), the son born to Jehoiakim and Nehushta, was the 18th king to rule Judah. During Jehoiachin's 3-month reign, the Babylonians took more prominent Israelites, including Jehoiachin, his wives and mother, to Babylon. During the 11th year of the reign of Jehoiakim's brother King Zedekiah (Mattaniah), the 19th king to rule Judah, the Babylonians conquered Jerusalem, according to the will of the Lord God, due to the idolatry and other wickedness of the Israelites. Over 500 years after Israelites began returning to Judah and Jerusalem, Jesus the Christ, the Son of God, was born. Samson

And Samson said unto them, I will now put forth a riddle unto you: if ye can certainly declare it me within the seven days of the feast, and find it out, then I will give you thirty sheets and thirty change of garments: But if ye cannot declare it me, then shall ye give me thirty sheets and thirty change of garments. And they said unto him, Put forth thy riddle, that we may hear it. And he said unto them, Out of the eater came forth meat, and out of the strong came forth sweetness. And they could not in three days expound the riddle. And it came to pass on the seventh day, that they said unto Samson's wife, Entice thy husband, that he may declare unto us the riddle, lest we burn thee and thy father's house with fire: have ye called us to take that we have? is it not so? And Samson's wife wept before him, and said, Thou dost but hate me, and lovest me not: thou hast put forth a riddle unto the children of my people, and hast not told it me. And he said unto her, Behold, I have not told it my father nor my mother, and shall I tell it thee? And she wept before him the seven days, while their feast lasted: and it came to pass on the seventh day, that he told her, because she lay sore upon him: and she told the riddle to the children of her people. And the men of the city said unto him on the seventh day before the sun went down, What is sweeter than honey? and what is stronger than a lion? But her father would not suffer him to go in. Samson was preparing to marry a Philistine woman in Timnath. During the weeklong wedding feast, Samson told his 30 Philistine groomsmen a riddle that he bet they would not be able to solve. To learn the answer, the groomsmen threatened Samson's wife, and she cried and nagged Samson for the answer. The wife spoke to the groomsmen and the groomsmen spoke to Samson. Afterwards, Samson went to Ashkelon, a Philistine city, and killed and stripped 30 Philistines, and fulfilled his obligation, and went to his father's house. Meanwhile, Samson's wife was given to another man. When Samson was eventually in Philistine captivity, he prayed to the Lord God, and Samson and a multitude of Philistines died. Over 1,000 years after Israelites from the tribe of Dan conquered the inhabitants of Laish and renamed the city Dan, Jesus the Christ, the Son of God, was born. And Jacob lifted up his eyes, and looked, and, behold, Esau came, and with him four hundred men. And he divided the children unto Leah, and unto Rachel, and unto the two handmaids. And Esau ran to meet him, and embraced him, and fell on his neck, and kissed him: and they wept. And he lifted up his eyes, and saw the women and the children; and said, Who are those with thee? And he said, The children which God hath graciously given thy servant. Then the handmaidens came near, they and their children, and they bowed themselves. And Leah also with her children came near, and bowed themselves: and after came Joseph near and Rachel, and they bowed themselves. And he said, What meanest thou by all this drove which I met? And Jesus entered and passed through Jericho. And, behold, there was a man named Zacchaeus, which was the chief among the publicans, and he was rich. And he sought to see Jesus who he was; and could not for the press, because he was little of stature. And he ran before, and climbed up into a sycomore tree to see him: for he was to pass that way. And when Jesus came to the place, he looked up, and saw him, and said unto him, Zacchaeus, make haste, and come down; for to day I must abide at thy house. And he made haste, and came down, and received him joyfully.-Luke 19:1-6***Sycamore (sycomore) trees were plentiful within a particular region in Judah, the southern nation in the Promised Land, the land that the Lord God promised to give to Abraham (Abram the Hebrew), and to Abraham's son Isaac, and to Isaac's youngest fraternal twin son Jacob (Israel), and to their descendants. The divinely inspired Scriptures of the Holy Bible reveal that the Lord God destroyed with frost the sycamore trees, and Amos, a prophet of the Lord God, gathered the fruit of some sycamore trees. Over 700 years after Amos journeyed from Judah to proclaim the words of the Lord God to the Israelites in the northern nation of Israel in the Promised Land, John the Baptist and Jesus the Christ, the Son of God, were born. John the Baptist was born into the tribe of Jacob's 3rd son Levi to Zechariah (Zacharias) the priest and his wife Elizabeth (Elisabeth). Jesus the Christ was conceived of the Holy Spirit in the womb of Elizabeth's relative Mary, a virgin, and Jesus was born in Bethlehem into the tribe of Jacob's 4th born son Judah to Mary and her husband Joseph when Mary was a virgin. Bethlehem was in the portion of the Promised Land allotted to the tribe of Judah, and Jericho was in the portion of the Promised Land allotted to the tribe of Jacob's 12th and last son Benjamin. Approximately 30 years after John the Baptist and Jesus the Christ were born, Jesus was baptized in the Jordan River by John the Baptist. Jesus having prayed, the heavens tearing open, the Holy Spirit descended as a dove and lit upon Jesus. The Lord God in heaven audibly acknowledged his Son Jesus, and the Holy Spirit led Jesus into the desert wilderness. Jesus fasted 40 days and nights and was tempted. Afterwards, Jesus was tended to by angels, and Jesus went to the area near John the Baptist, and John the Baptist proclaimed Jesus to be the Lamb of God taking away the sin of the world, and testified that Jesus is the Son of God. In Galilee, Jesus told specific Israelite men to follow him, and Jesus began to preach, teach and perform miracles among the Israelites, the treasured and chosen people of the Lord God. Jesus witnessed many examples of faith. When a Roman centurion wanted Jesus to heal a servant, and the centurion did not deem himself worthy to have Jesus come to his home, the centurion's words to Jesus revealed his level of faith. In Capernaum, 4 friends of a paralytic man carried their friend to a rooftop while the man was lying on a mat. The friends busted through the ceiling in order to set the man before Jesus, and Jesus forgave the man's sins and told him to get up, take his mat and go home. When a woman who had been steadily bleeding for 12 years purposefully touched the hem of the garment being worn by Jesus, the woman expected to be healed. David and Jonathan

And it came to pass, when he had made an end of speaking unto Saul, that the soul of Jonathan was knit with the soul of David, and Jonathan loved him as his own soul. And Saul took him that day, and would let him go no more home to his father's house. Then Jonathan and David made a covenant, because he loved him as his own soul. And Jonathan stripped himself of the robe that was upon him, and gave it to David, and his garments, even to his sword, and to his bow, and to his girdle.-1 Samuel 18:1-4***Samuel the priest, prophet and judge was from the tribe of Levi, descended from Abraham (Abram the Hebrew) and Sarah (Sarai), Isaac and Rebekah, Jacob (Israel) and his 1st wife Leah, and Jacob and Leah's 3rd born son Levi. Saul and his son Jonathan were from the tribe of Benjamin, descended from Jacob and his 2nd wife Rachel, and Jacob and Rachel's 2nd and last son Benjamin. David was from the tribe of Jacob and Leah's 4th born son Judah. When Samuel was elderly, and his sons Joel (Vashni) and Abiah and (Abijah) were not obeying the commands of the Lord God, and King Nahash and his Ammonite army were preparing to attack, the Israelite elders demanded that Samuel appoint a king to lead them. The divinely inspired Scriptures of the Holy Bible reveal that Samuel was not pleased with their request. After Samuel prayed to the Lord God and proclaimed the words of the Lord God to the Israelites, Samuel anointed Saul to reign as king over the Israelites in the Promised Land, according to the command of the Lord God. At least twice, Saul did not obey the commands of the Lord God. While Saul reigned, the Lord God sent Samuel to anoint David, a young shepherd, to reign as king.  Sometime thereafter, David began serving as a musician and an armor-bearer for Saul. After David killed and beheaded Goliath the gigantic Philistine, David remained in Saul's service full-time. David was a brave and strategic fighter and went towards any opponent he was facing knowing that the Lord God was responsible for every victory. Similarly, Jonathan was a brave and strategic fighter. Whether Jonathan was fighting alongside Saul, or an armor-bearer, or Saul's troops, Jonathan went on the offensive, going towards his enemies knowing that each outcome was according to the will of the Lord God. The Israelite women sang of David higher than they sang of Saul, and Saul was angry and tried to kill David. Saul became afraid of David, and sent David on missions to get killed, and commanded others, including Jonathan, to kill David. The Israelites interceded for Jonathan, and Jonathan interceded for David. Saul's youngest daughter Michal was married to David and helped David escape from their home. Jonathan brought messages to David, and confirmed their covenant, and helped David remain safe from Saul, and strengthened David's hand in the Lord God. After the Philistines killed Jonathan and his brothers Abinadab and Malchishua (Ishui?), and Saul's self-inflicted death on the same battlefield, men from the tribe of Judah anointed 30-year-old David, and David began to rule only over the tribe of Judah. Saul's son Ishbosheth (Eshbaal) ruled over the other Israelite tribes. Sometime after Ishbosheth was murdered, the Israelite elders went to David, and David made a covenant with them. The elders anointed 37-year-old David, and David became the 2nd king to rule over all of the Israelites in the land that the Lord God promised to give to Abraham, and Isaac, and to Jacob, and their descendants. Over 900 years after David established royal and financial kindness for Jonathan's son Mephibosheth, and retrieved and buried the bones of Saul, Jonathan, Malchishua, and Abinadab, Jesus the Christ, the Son of God, was born. The king of Syria and Elisha the prophet

Then the king of Syria warred against Israel, and took counsel with his servants, saying, In such and such a place shall be my camp. And the man of God sent unto the king of Israel, saying, Beware that thou pass not such a place; for thither the Syrians are come down. And the king of Israel sent to the place which the man of God told him and warned him of, and saved himself there, not once nor twice. Therefore the heart of the king of Syria was sore troubled for this thing; and he called his servants, and said unto them, Will ye not shew me which of us is for the king of Israel? And one of his servants said, None, my lord, O king: but Elisha, the prophet that is in Israel, telleth the king of Israel the words that thou speakest in thy bedchamber. And he said, Go and spy where he is, that I may send and fetch him. And it was told him, saying, Behold, he is in Dothan. Therefore sent he thither horses, and chariots, and a great host; and they came by night, and compassed the city about. And when the servant of the man of God was risen early, and gone forth, behold, an host compassed the city both with horses and chariots. And his servant said unto him, Alas, my master! how shall we do? And he answered, Fear not: for they that be with us are more than they that be with them. And Elisha prayed, and said, LORD, I pray thee, open his eyes, that he may see. And the LORD opened the eyes of the young man; and he saw: and, behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire round about Elisha. And when they came down to him, Elisha prayed unto the LORD, and said, Smite this people, I pray thee, with blindness. And he smote them with blindness according to the word of Elisha. One of the Syrian king's men informed the king that Elisha, an Israelite and a prophet of the Lord God, was relaying secrets to Jehoram. Thus, the Syrian king sent spies to determine Elisha's location. After learning that Elisha was in Dothan, the king of Syria sent a band of troops, chariots and horsemen to seize Elisha. Over 750 years after Elisha died and a dead man began living again after contact with Elisha's bones, Jesus the Christ, the Son of God, was born. Of this man's seed hath God according to his promise raised unto Israel a Saviour, Jesus:-Acts 13:16-23***Over 300 years after Reuben, Simeon, Levi, Judah, Issachar, Zebulun, and daughter Dinah were born to Jacob (Israel) and his 1st wife Leah, and Dan and Naphtali were born to Jacob and maidservant Bilhah, and Gad and Asher were born to Jacob and maidservant Zilpah, and Joseph and Benjamin were born to Jacob and his 2nd wife Rachel, and Rachel died, Miriam and her younger brothers Aaron and Moses were born into the tribe of Levi. When Moses was 80 years old and Aaron was 83, the Lord God sent them to speak to the Israelite elders and Pharaoh, the king of Egypt. After the Lord God brought the 10th and final plague upon Pharaoh and Egypt, Moses and Aaron led the Israelites, and those with them, away from Egyptian slavery, across the divinely parted Red Sea, and into the desert wilderness of Shur. During the 40-year journey to Canaan, the Promised Land, Miriam the prophetess died and was buried in Kadesh, in the desert wilderness of Zin. Upon Mount Hor, 123-year-old Aaron the high priest died, and Aaron's son Eleazar became the high priest. When Moses went upon Mount Nebo, the Lord God showed Moses the Promised Land, and 120-year-old Moses the prophet died, and was divinely buried. Joshua, Moses' aide and successor  from the tribe of Ephraim, led the Israelites across the divinely parted Jordan River and onto the land that the Lord God promised to give to Jacob, and to Jacob's father Isaac, and to Isaac's father Abraham (Abram the Hebrew), and to their descendants. Joshua led the Israelites to victory over the inhabitants of Jericho, and Ai, and against King Adoni-zedek, King Jabin, their armies and allies, and more kings and kingdoms, and Joshua, Eleazar, and the Israelite leaders specified by the Lord God allotted each tribe its portion of the Promised Land, according to the commands that the Lord God gave Moses. After 110-year-old Joshua died, and was buried in his tribe's portion of the Promised Land, Israelites from the tribe of Simeon and the tribe of Judah fought together in a battle against the Canaanites and Perizzites, idol worshiping inhabitants living in Canaan. Sometime thereafter, Othniel, from the tribe of Judah, was the judge leading the Israelites. Ehud the judge was from the tribe of Benjamin. Shamgar the judge killed 600 Philistines. Israelites from the tribe of Naphtali and the tribe of Zebulun followed Deborah, the prophetess and judge, and Barak, the army commander, in a battle against the Canaanites. Gideon  (Jerubbaal) the judge was from the tribe of Manasseh. Tola the judge was from the tribe of Issachar and led the Israelites 23 years, and Jephthah the judge was from the tribe of Manasseh and led the Israelites 6 years. Judges Ibzan, Elon and Abdon successively led the Israelites. Samson the judge was from the tribe of Dan and led the Israelites 20 years. When Samuel the priest, prophet and judge from the tribe of Levi was elderly, and his sons Joel (Vashni) and Abiah (Abijah) were not obeying the commands of the Lord God, and King Nahash and his Ammonite were preparing to attack, the Israelite elders demanded that Samuel appoint a king to lead them, and Samuel anointed Saul, from the tribe of Benjamin, to reign, according to the command of the Lord God. At least twice, Saul did not obey the commands of the Lord God. While Saul reigned, the Lord God sent Samuel to anoint David, from the tribe of Judah, to reign as king. After the Philistines killed Saul's sons Jonathan, Malchishua and Abinadab (Ishui?), and Saul's self-inflicted death on the same battlefield, men from the tribe of Judah anointed 30-year-old David, and David began to reign only over the tribe of Judah. Saul's son Ishbosheth (Eshbaal) ruled over the other Israelite tribes. Sometime after Ishbosheth was murdered, the Israelite elders went to David, and David made a covenant with them. The elders anointed 37-year-old David, and David became the 2nd king to rule over all of the Israelites. At least 900 years after Solomon, a son born to David and Bathsheba, became the 3rd king to rule over all of the Israelites, and 70-year-old David died, John the Baptist and Jesus the Christ, the Son of God, were born. John the Baptist was born into the tribe of Levi to Zechariah (Zacharias) the priest and his wife Elizabeth (Elisabeth). Jesus the Christ was conceived of the Holy Spirit in the womb of Elizabeth's relative Mary, a virgin, and Jesus was born into the tribe of Judah to Mary and her husband Joseph when Mary was a virgin. Anna, the elderly prophetess and widow from the tribe of Asher, told other Israelites about the arrival of Jesus. Approximately 30 years after John the Baptist and Jesus the Christ were born, Jesus was baptized in the Jordan River by John the Baptist. Jesus having prayed, the heavens tearing open, the Holy Spirit descended as a dove and lit upon Jesus. The Lord God in heaven audibly acknowledged his Son Jesus, and the Holy Spirit led Jesus into the desert wilderness. Jesus fasted 40 days and nights and was tempted. Afterwards, Jesus was tended to by angels, and Jesus went to the area near John the Baptist, and John the Baptist proclaimed Jesus to be the Lamb of God taking away the sin of the world, and testified that Jesus is the Son of God. In Galilee, Jesus told specific Israelite men to follow him, and Jesus began to preach, teach and perform miracles among the Israelites, the treasured and chosen people of the Lord God. Less than 3 1/2 years after Jesus was baptized, Jesus was betrayed by Judas Iscariot the disciple and apostle, and Jesus was arrested, crucified, buried in a tomb,  resurrected, and returned to heaven. Sometime thereafter, Paul (Saul), from the tribe of Benjamin, began persecuting and imprisoning Israelites throughout Jerusalem who believed Jesus to be the Christ. When Paul was journeying to the synagogues in Damascus, Syria, to find, bind and take to Jerusalem any Israelite believers he found, Paul and those with him saw a light from heaven flash around them. Paul heard the voice of Jesus speaking to him, and Paul spoke to Jesus, and obeyed Jesus. In Damascus Paul was baptized. From thenceforward, Paul the apostle journeyed and wrote divinely inspired letters, teaching Israelites and Gentiles, people not born into the Israelite tribes, the good news of Jesus the Christ and everlasting life.
